Written back in 2020: I can only agree with the many other reviews here; this place is awesome! We hade 4 dishes, 3 tapas and a potato salad. Everything was simply delicious, and the friendly waiter (which was the owner, I think) made the our lunch just perfect!
Read moreUpdate 2026-01-03: Their opening hours are unreliable. To be sure their posted hours are correct, I contacted them to ask about the hours, and they replied that they were indeed open that day. When I arrived some hours later, well within their posted opening hours, they were closed.
Update 2026-01-09: I finally found them open and had great expectations. The main course was good but not great. I asked for a tapas-of-the-day and that was only just edible. I then waited to order a dessert, but could not get the attention of the chef nor her waiter. It took some effort to get attention to get the bill.

i didn't like the taste of almost anything, only the burrito was ok-ish, but too small, and the tortilla chips next to it was inedible as it was dry and hard as a rock. i'm sure the staff is friendly, but it doesn't make up for the food and its price.

We tried four dishes and they were all delicious. There is a varied menu inspired by different cuisines. Very friendly atmosphere and great service. Excellent dessert too. We will definitely be back.

A Raices is a comfy little tapas place that also offers a few main courses. Ingredients and drinks are said to be mostly sourced locally. While many tapas are canary/spanish cuisine, some main courses or desserts are international dishes (e.g. Bolivian, Austrian).

Apparently she had been living in Vienna a while back, funnily enough basically down the road from us. Just goes to show the world can be a small place sonetines.

Read moreWe really enjoyed the vegan tapas here - croquetas, chorizo, and tortilla, washed down with homemade limonata. I still rave about the smokiness of the chorizo here! The owner was working alone on the day, acting as waitress and chef - you could see her cooking each dish behind the counter. No dish is pre-made. This made the service slow but you can tell it was all made with care and skill. Definitely recommend.

We ate at A Raices twice during our 1 week stay in Las Palmas, and we’d love to take the owner/cook back to London with us - she is a marvel.
Read moreOn our first night, she ran front of house and the kitchen single handedly, while maintaining a smile and looking after everyone in the busy restaurant. Our second night, the restaurant was even busier with people even choosing to stand and eat (a sign that this place is good), and thankfully she had some help this time!
We ate a carnival inspired dish (with potato and fried pea protein) which was so tasty that we had it both nights, and on night one we had the schnitzel and potato salad which went down really well. Night two, we also had their delicious falafel, the Caribbean rice (which was fantastic) and a burrito.
Highly recommend booking, as this place is only open three days per week and gets very busy. But definitely a must try!

Finally made it here and LOVE it. Small restaurant but so worth it. The owner couple is very kind and even informed me of tonight's carnival parade. The lady cook is excellent. Glad it's still running since 2019.

We ordered 3 tapas and 2 main dishes, all of which were delicious. Beautifully prepared and presented food. Although we're only in the area for 5 days, we will go back and try some other dishes. I'm sure we won't be disappointed. #Veganuary
