Clearly marked VEGAN items! - Edit
Nifty small grocery store with CLEARLY marked vegan items. We don’t see that often in other grocery stores. Good quality of non-GMO and vegan items. Stopped to buy a few items and got everything under ten minutes. Never shopped that quick. Fairly good price too. A bit more than $25 for seven items. I brought a fluorite-free toothpaste and a couple of irresistible Alternative Baking Company cookies. Glad I swing by.

Vegan Options! - Edit
I've been shopping occasionally at the Alberta Co-op since 2013 & it's my favorite co-op that I've visited. While it's a tiny storefront, they carry a diverse array of products & there are always sales. The produce is usually impeccable, & they do well with carrying many vegan products & brands.

amazing natural food store in the Alberta Art District - Edit
Alberta Cooperative Grocery is amazing. I used to frequent it when I lived in PDX in the day circa 2004 to 2005. On a recent visit here it is still a special place worth visiting and supporting. Kate, who works in bulk, was friendly and helpful.
Read moreI ended up picking up some goji berries in bulk, harmless coconut water to hydrate the walkabout in the sun, and some medjool dates rolled in coconut with a sliced date on top.
They have a great variety of everything from flowers, to heaps in bulk including:
numerous whole grains, to various local coffee beans, almonds, and even reishi mushrooms in bulk. I try to eat a lot of whole grains. Quinoa is a staple of mine in San Francisco for it cooks fast, is high in protein, and just make sure to rinse first. 20 min it is done.
For produce they had amazing heirloom tomatoes in a variety of colors, avocado, and heaps of greens which are a favorite of mine. Greens such as kale cook up fast with a little bit of olive oil or steamed.
Anyone living in or visiting Portland should check out this gem of a store with amazing products and friendly helpful staff.
Pros: helpful and friendly staff, amazing bulk section, amazing produce
Cons: nothing to dislike

Tons of vegan products - Edit
With a quick stop here, I was able to get many products that were clearly labeled vegan, climate neutral, and with no animal testing. I got vegan floss using plant wax, deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush made of recycled yogurt cups, and a razor made of recycled yogurt cups. They make it easy to buy products that you can feel good about! There were also vegan baked goods available in a case at the front from Shoofly Vegan Bakery.

Absolutely love! - Edit
I’m so glad we stopped in here for snacks. Got some chapstick and two bars of vegan chocolate. Both were delicious and the store has plenty of options to choose from!

Great food + CBD products - Edit
It’s worth spending a bit of time to look through the unique and local items carried here. Highlights for me include PCNW kombucha, local tempeh, soy-free tempeh, well-priced produce, and dips/sauces like vegan pesto. My knowledgeable friends said Alberta Co-op has some of the better CBD products available, for example a few that are usually only at functional medicine offices.

Friendly Neighborhood Co-op Grocery - Edit
This small co-op grocery store is one of my favorite stops on Alberta Street. For its size, this store has a great selection of vegan items, both packaged and fresh. I always stop in on my way to catch the bus or on my walk back to my partner's house. If I lived in this neighborhood, this is where I would do my weekly shopping.

Nice selection - Edit
Popped in here to take a look on the way to dinner. Store was a bit small, but they had a nice selection. I managed to find a few chocolates that I didn't see in any other grocery stores I visited in Portland. Score!

Sweet Little Co-op - Edit
I visited Portland last weekend and was thrilled to stumble upon this adorable little co-op. It's alive with the vibration of the neighbourhood and unlike PCC (in Seattle), it's not a Whole Foods clone. Their was staff is friendly and helped me find a few obscure things I needed.
Read moreEven though it's small, with a little help, I found everything I was looking for and more. Their mercantile section offered some unique household items that I hadn't seen before such as glass drinking straws.
I highly recommend this co-op.

Fantastic! - Edit
This is an amazing Co-op! I just loved it from the moment I walked in--I'm not from Portland, but I found this place to be a treasure for the travelling vegan. Lots of healthy and convenience "to-go" items in the deli case, great to pack for a day of biking or hiking. For those who live in the area, what a fantastic resource for fresh veg, bulk items and other sundries! Wonderful store--bypass the large brand-name health-food store, and support this Portland Co-op.

Great place - Edit
I loved this place too. It has everything you need, including a cozy, friendly atmosphere. The prices are higher than some of the big chains, but well worth every penny. Wish I lived closer!

I Love This Place! - Edit
A few weeks after moving into the Alberta Arts District, I walked over to the Alberta Co-Op and bought a membership. They offer many different payment plans, and I picked the cheapest, and then I was off and running. I love the selection, although their bulk section is not as big as I was expecting. They do offer many gluten-free and vegan items, and I especially appreciate that they sell bulk tempeh and vegan cream cheese. The cashiers and staff are all really friendly and open to discussion. I shop here often.
