You’re gonna want to stay here! - Edit
AN ABSOLUTE GEM IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
Read moreFirst of all, the food: The menu is vegetarian but highly vegan-leaning. I think the only animal product they have is eggs.
We really enjoyed our breakfasts. I had the trail house breakfast (Just Egg, sausage, potatoes, and toast with coffee) which was great. It was so nice to not have to think about breakfast in the morning. You can also choose your breakfast time within a couple hour window, which was convenient.
There is also a dinner menu, which we didn’t get to try, but looked really good. You can even get boxed lunches for your day out!
Other (non-food) stuff:
This historical home is such a beauty! It's decorated very nicely (lots of bike themed things since they cater to bikers from the nearby trail) and the whole place is so quaint. There are common areas to hang out that have plenty of comfy seating, along with games and books for guests to use. We had fun playing chess! The dining room has a small fridge and microwave and utensils available for guests.
Everything was super clean. My sister said her bed was the most comfortable bed she's ever slept in, though bed preference will always be subjective. The breakfasts they offer are delicious. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. There's also a hot tub available! Don't be like me and not come prepared with a swimsuit.
There's a (very cute) dog who lives here and sometimes comes to say hi! We loved Kramer.
We will be back for sure!
Pros: Historical home, Walkable to shops and trail, Hot tub
Cons: Wish they were fully vegan 🤷🏼♀️

An Oasis - Edit
The Allegheny Trial House is an oasis. It's a perfect place to sleep and refresh while headed out to the Great Allegheny Passage, C&O Canal Trail, or many of the great hiking or biking spots nearby. If you're looking for a getaway near DC or Baltimore, or want to do the whole length of the trial, I couldn't recommend a better spot. Jason, the owner and proprietor, makes a great vegan breakfast, but also a kind host who's happy to share about Frostburg, or good hikes and bike rides nearby.
