Super resto - Edit

Hearty and healthy classic - Edit
This restaurant opened the year I went vegan—1997. We’re of a similar vintage and as such I enjoyed a leisurely afternoon having the bacon caesar salad with tempeh and the samba juice.

So many options - Edit
Everything that was served here looked super delicious! I had the Gyro wrap and it was really good and a big portion. The Tempeh was nicely seasoned and it came with more veggies and a tzatziki sauce.

Good Takeout Options - Edit
AVP boasts to be the first vegan restaurant in Montreal and they look to have really expanded across the city. I was excited to check out their Pan-Asian menu and see what the hype was all about.
Read moreUpon entering, I noticed that they had a few of their pre-made signature bowls for takeout at a fraction of the cost. Seizing the opportunity, I purchased their Bali Bowl which includes marinated tempeh with greens in a ginger dressing. I was happy with my salad bowl as it really hit the spot after consuming a lot of non-veggies during this trip.
So while I didn't get to dine in this time around, the bowl did everything for me and I was able to continue my day sight seeing and full.

The Classic - Edit
I came here the first time I went to Montreal, ~12 years ago. This was the first place I had vegan lox—blew my mind!

Good, not great - Edit
We came here with a group of vegan and omni-eaters. Everyone enjoyed their selections, though the vegans less so. The menu was extensive, but as other users have commented, it was pretty standard as far as vegan fare goes. I was eager to try the huevos rancheros, but those are only available on their weekend brunch menu. It would be the only compelling reason for me to return, rather than to try a more original place.

Appetizers:
Dahl soup: small portion 4⭐️
Chana Paratha: the tamarind and mint chutney made this dish 4⭐️
Potato wedges: 3.5⭐️
Mains:
Chili: 4⭐️
BLT sandwich: 3.5⭐️
Gyro sandwich: 3.5⭐️
California bowl with grilled tofu: 3⭐️
Thalia Malai Kofta: large portion size, but it was too sweet, I didn’t like the dill-esque dressing in the salad nor the overall combination of flavors. (2.5⭐️)
The fruit juices were good, but quite expensive, especially for the size.
Pros: Variety (but standard vegan dishes), Friendly staff, Allergy aware
Cons: Loud music, Standard fare, Pricey

Delicious - Edit
Went in near closing, so we looked at their takeaway options. They had many and were fairly priced. Got the dragon bowl and pumpkin cheesecake. Bowl was fresh and cheesecake had a nice texture. Both were delicious! No complaints here!

Cozy diner-feeling spot - Edit
We came here late, near the end of their dinner service, and it was peaceful and cozy on a winter night. They had a vegan version of malai kofta which was phenomenal and the whole reason we went! We also enjoyed a mango lassi, a chickpea curry dish with fresh flatbread, and a tasty slice of cheese cake. Great spot for indian flavors made vegan in a diner-style environment.

Fun, tasty cafe! - Edit
Really liked the big menu, and variety of options! The falafel appetizer was delicious, and the gyro was quite good! One of the reviews we read before going described it as old school vegan, and I could resonate with that -- They use the classic protein staples, such as tempeh, chickpeas and mushrooms, and don't have as many unique menu options as some of the newer places in the area. Still enjoyed our meal, and would go back in the future!

My favourite place in MTL - Edit
This place has quickly become my favourite place in MTL. My work mates and I often buy the wraps and bowls from Rachel Berry, but since reopening I've gone in there to eat and it was amazing. I had the latke burger, which was super good and had lots of sauce. My friend and I shared cheesecake (peanut butter slightly better than the berry one) and on another occasion I had another burger takeaway.
Read moreThe sauces as always really good.. the dragon sauce is amazing.
The only downside is the wedges/potatoes. Pretty average as far as they go.

Bonjour/Hi - Edit
Everything is more exciting when you are on vacation but this is a place we go to at least twice. The brunch is delicious and I'm obsessed with the BLT with coconut bacon. Everything I've ordered was so good, including cake to go. I was thrilled to see the Malai kofta appetizer as it was favorite dish before I was vegan. We've had a few language barriers (totally my fault - no theirs.) I cannot wait to go back. Even the walk down St Laurent is wonderful.

Delicious Giant Wraps - Edit
We ordered the Dragon and Gyro Wraps for lunch and they were absolute monsters! We only ate half so we could fit dessert. The Dragon sauce is to die for and the Gyro wrap was delicious as well. The desserts weren't anything too special but still really good.
