Vegan Cutting Board IS Delicious! - Edit
I have been living in Siracusa for a couple of months and walk past Bar Drago several times a week on my way to the seaside walking path. It has an excellent patio that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and always looks busy. Thanks to VeronicaReina's recent Happy Cow review, I finally made it to the cafe. To keep it simple, I took a screenshot of her review, and the Chef was happy to recreate it for me. It is a good deal - a vegan cutting board loaded with traditional eggplant caponata, tomato & pesto bruschetta, olives, potato croquettes, french fries, onion rings, tempura veggies and an aperol spritz - for just 15€. It is supposed to be an apertivo for one, but it includes so much delicious food my husband and I still had takeaway. It was a rainy, windy evening so I couldn't enjoy the patio, my food was blowing off the table. Inside there is plenty of seating, the server was lovely. It isn't far from Ortigia and Santa Lucia. Definitely worth the 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The chocoIate filling for the cannoli is vegan-friendly but unfortunately the pastry dough contains egg. And it has a huge pizza menu that can be ordered cheese-free. I will definitely go back!

Conosco questo posto da anni, ci vado spesso quando torno a Siracusa… Purtroppo Drago non offre (tante) possibilità a chi non mangia latte/uova/carne: c’è un bel menù di hamburger ma non uno con il burger vegetale, così come anche i pizzoli hanno tutti carne o formaggi.
Read moreL’ultima volta che ci sono stata, è stato il 24/04/23 per un apericena; io e il mio compagno abbiamo optato per la soluzione del tagliere con un drink incluso e questo tagliere lo abbiamo “creato” noi con la collaborazione della cameriera e della cucina; è un tagliere composto da:
- caponata;
- bruschette al pomodoro;
- bruschette al pesto di pistacchio e pomodoro;
- olive;
- patate al forno;
- verdure in pastella;
- patatine fritte;
- anelli di cipolla e
- marmellata di arancia (che non abbiamo capito dove e come avremmo dovuto usarla)
Abbiamo ordinato anche una pizza Russa (da menù) con le olive al forno, che adoro! L’impasto era sottile e morbido, cotta molto bene :)
Ogni pietanza era fresca e preparata comunque da poco, la qualità di Drago è sempre impeccabile!
