Delicious panini - Edit
I had the vegan version of the portobello panini and it was amazing. There’s several vegan options on the menu. It’s a casual atmosphere.

Meh. - Edit
Ate here because there were no other options in the immediate area and we were in a rush. They do have some vegan options, but after confirming with them several times that my order would be vegan, I discovered they had added cheese to my sandwich. It also took about 20 mins to make two paninis, which felt a little ridiculous. If you’re in a pinch, this place is fine, but be aware that they may not know what vegan is (despite the fact that it’s a healthy place with vegan options…)

Very disappointing - Edit
I thought I’d try a smoothie bowl here on another very hot day. I ordered the coconut chocolate smoothie bowl; it was nothing more than coconut milk with chocolate with hardly any topping if for a few banana slices, a few peanuts and very little shredded coconut. Very liquidy (if that’s a word) and quite light on taste. I strongly recommend going one block over to Elixir Spot for an amazing smoothie bowl.

Hit the spot - Edit
I felt very limited on my trip, so I was happy this was in walking distance. Got the “hummus portobello” panini. It came without hummus and they didn’t say why but it was still very good and was so happy to have tofu. The tofu was very tasty! They did put two non-vegan sauces on the side even though I asked for the vegan sandwich but it was fine.

Good overall - Edit
I’ve been to Barra Light many times over my many visits to PV. It is a good option for vegan, especially those that are also gluten-free but some items are a hit or miss. They’re so close to being wonderful but sometimes they just miss the mark. For example, the toasts are great but the açaí bowl lacked flavor. Some of the smoothies are awesome and others I wouldn’t order again. Overall the positives keep us coming back.

Excellent restaurant, great options but you must be v specific - Edit
We came for breakfast on Thursday January 24 and it was so-so. We were impressed with the menu and the fact that it had so many vegan options, but it was clear the staff had issues communicating what customers were vegan. The front counter staff was rude, bored by the fact that we took a while to look at the menu, and in general made me feel rushed. I ordered less than I planned due to this, but that might have been for the best.
Read moreWhen our food came, it was without milk or cheese, but it had two sauces made from ranch on the side. The V on their menu stands for Vegetarian as opposed to vegan. They got our shakes perfect, but all the other food was contaminated with animal products. This place would have been an awesome find that we would go back to, but we definitely do not feel we can trust the food to be vegan.
The vegan shake was wonderfully done. If you go here, be specific.
Pros: Purportedly has vegan options
Cons: Those vegan options are not trustworthy

Salads/ Smoothie winners - Edit
The veganized panini is all right, though sauces are not veganizable, so stick with the salads and smoothies, which have a lot of options.

Dog and People friendly! - Edit
The owner of Barra Light is extremely welcoming and helpful. While they do not have Vegan meat substitutes, they did have a special which was a Vegan soup. Unfortunately they were all sold out. When we explained we were Vegan, she told us which items to avoid (just a couple of chicken and egg options). We’ve had a total of three meals here in the week we’ve been here and have enjoyed every one.
