Twice as costly and not as good - Edit
This was my first visit here. The food tasted good and line moved fast. When I inquired how I would make the combos marked with the “vegan option available” symbol, cashier asked, are you a vegan vegan? and said they can’t actually be made vegan because the eggs can’t be subbed. Weird question. If they meant vegetarian instead of vegan, they should correct that. Every vegan item had to be piecemealed and ordered a la carte to make a solid meal, and even then it was not plated as a cohesive meal but came in a bunch of little side bowls. The vegan option paled in comparison to the beautifully assembled dishes my nonvegan friends had. Mine was also nearly twice as expensive. To top it all off, we may have been served a dairy latte instead of an oat milk latte. We got two oat lattes for my boyfriend and me and my other friend on a separate order had a dairy latte. When my boyfriend helped me finish mine he said it tasted different and my friend with the dairy latte couldn’t distinguish it from the one she had. They get so much business they probably don’t need mine, but it would be nice to have a vegan combo added to their menu that includes gravy, biscuit, and veggie sausage.

Get there early! - Edit
I don't think the vegan biscuit is very good as it is also gluten free. I LOVE the jam bar but don't find the hour+ wait and price of it all to be worth that. I didn't care for the sausage gravy option either but other people in my group did.

Sides not worth it - Edit
I got the vegan biscuit with the sweet potato gravy and I thought it was really good. It’s like a creamy coconut gravy so don’t expect a traditional southern gravy. But it was so flavorful I loved it. I also ordered 3 sides: the veggie sausage, the fried green tomatoes, and the home fries. All three were just ok - not a lot of flavor or good textures. The sausage was literally just a veggie patty or something. They have an amazing bar with homemade jams; next time I would maybe get a second plain biscuit just to eat all the jams. Also the fresh squeezed OJ is amazing.

Absolutely gross - Edit
The vegan biscuit is gluten free and what we were served was basically inedible. It was like glue, cement, thickened into a moisture-sucking mass that became more difficult to chew and swallow the longer it was in the mouth. It was served hot and turned into a rock quickly as it cooled. I'd liken it to days old stale bread nuked.
Read moreThe 'gravy' is described as a 'sweet potato coconut gravy' so we expected like, a coconut milk based gravy with smokey sweet potato chunks emulating sausage. We had the sweet potato Ruben from Laughing Seed last night (which was amazing btw) so that sounded like a reasonable expectation. Biscuits and gravy, gravy being breakfast food.
What they actually have though is a can of sweet potato coconut curry soup. It's very clearly Thai spiced soup, coconut curry with sweet potato pieces. It's orange. It's soup.
It would have been good at lunch with rice. But we weren't at lunch or a Thai place. We were at a biscuits n gravy breakfast joint. We'd drank a bit the night before and wanted some yummy bread and gravy to fill us up and soak up the booze.
Instead, my and my gf have been sitting in a waffle house parking lot for like 30 mins after numerous trips to the bathroom and her trying not to vomit out the window because we feel so bad.
We also got the veggie sausage and coconut stewed collards. The veggie sausage had an okay flavor but like the biscuit seemed DAYS old and overcooked. The collards were not coconut stewed they were coconut curry seasoned. They were soft but again, it's called BISCUIT HEAD and is a BREAKFAST PLACE and we assumed the coconut was to give it like maybe a creamed thing or the fat to make it more southern, we in no world expected wannabe Asian seasoned collards.
Service was friendly and fast but our naked silverware was placed onto the unclean bar which was kinda gross.
The latte was pretty good.
The other food looked and smelled amazing, nothing like what we got.
I would absolutely never recommend a vegan eat here. Or GF. It's just not good.
Pic is our food when we were DONE.
Pros: Latte with oat milk
Cons: GF biscuit, NO gravy, curry soup!

Biscuit dry gravy ehhh - Edit
Biscuit is really really dry and difficult to cut. Gravy is a curry basically and kind of a lot first thing in the morning. Jams were good but wouldn’t say this place is worth the wait.

Delicious but... - Edit
Wish they had vegan butter. Jam bar was awesome and the gravy was great if you like sweet potato and curry. They also have a vegan chorizo which I think it’s TVP.

Horrible vegan biscuit - Edit
The problem is, they do a GF and vegan biscuit. It tastes like chalk. Jam bar is fantastic but there isn’t enough jam in the word to make the biscuits taste good.

I did not try the gravy. The jams themselves were very good.

What little they have is good, plus a 25 minute wait - Edit
Same review as the other location except at this one you will wait in a line halfway around the block to eat it. Cool to be in downtown west Asheville though. Biscuits and gravy is their thing, with breakfast items and other sandwiches available. There is 1 vegan and 2 vegetarian gravies. They are good, but that's all you have. There's a vegan gluten free biscuit. It's heavy food. Relative to other places, it's less expensive so the lines are super long. They have a bunch of flavored jams which are good.

Completely Inedible Biscuits - Edit
Bought some vegan biscuits to take home. When we opened them they were inedible with the inside being completely uncooked. When we called they said that was just how they are and that is the best they can do making them both vegan and gluten free. Seriously, gluten-free vegan biscuits are not that hard to make.

Good for vegetarians maybe not so great for vegans - Edit
I always enjoy the biscuits and vegetarian gravys here ( tho super heavy) as well as the grits and arugula salad . Tho last time I went I decided to try the vegan biscuit and gravy .. the biscuit was vegan and gf and tastes like it , not in a good way . And the vegan gravy is a little sweet. Will stick with vegetarian options
