I was craving Ethiopian food for dinner tonight ! The Blue Nile is an excellent option for some delicious and very unique fare ! This restaurant is buffet style ( come hungry because you won’t leave hungry! ) all the vegetable dishes are vegan ( no dairy to worry about ! )

Really Impressive - Edit
I wasn’t expecting a lot from this take out order (no dine in) I got at Blue Nile 2 months ago but the vegan combo was better than any Ethiopian I have had in YVR.
Read moreI lived in a predominantly Ethiopian neighbourhood in Toronto for almost a decade and have had my fair share. Kudos to the chefs at Blue Nile for great quality and freshness.
The service was fast and friendly, we paid at the door and our food was ready in less than 10mins. Looking forward to visiting again!
Pros: Fresh food, Friendly service , Delicious

Yum but oily and salty. - Edit
If you’re craving Ethiopian and you are vegan, this is your best option. The venue is clean (bathrooms not so much), the owners are very sweet and the buffet is very tasty. Also very salty and oily. Do expect to have a sore tummy after going there. And they may run out of injera bread and not give you a discount or another option, it happened to us 2 out of the 3 times we went. I now make Ethiopian at home.

We love this place - Edit
I've been coming here for years thanks to the ample vegan options. It's a serve yourself buffet with very friendly staff. The injera is fermented and delicious and the vegan dishes are flavourful. The decor is old-fashioned but that doesn't matter since the food is good. Since it's all you can eat I always leave stuffed!

Cons: Weird decoration

A Long-time Victoria Favourite - Edit
This is one of my favourite places to eat in Victoria. We eat whatever vegan is on the buffet, which is usually about 5 items. My favourite is the spicy, red-ish lentil dish. You can go up several times, so if you have a good appetite, it's also a good choice to eat here (15 dollars for the buffet or you order the vegetarian combo). The hosts are friendly. My partner's workplace had their holiday dinner and party here one year, which was tight for space but for sure a success.
Read moreKeep in mind it's not open for lunch and not at all on Monday.
By the way, if you like Ethiopian food, you will want to try Messob at 1109 McKenzie Street in Cook Street Village in Victoria. It's also dandy and they have a vegetarian combo.
Pros: tasty, buffet , friendly
Cons: not open at lunch, not so centrally located

Food was OK but still a good vegan option - Edit
Good customer service.
Read moreWe asked them if kids can get pizza from nearby place and they agreed to it. This was huge help to us.
We were very Hungary so we liked food. But when I asked my friends again to go there, they said.
Food was not fresh ( all the lentil based stuff was prepared and then frozen and defrosted)
This may be standard practice but they should have managed it better.
For once in a while, this was good option but it would have been nice to see more green/fresh veggie option

love this place - Edit
Lovely food & atmosphere. Buffet with many veg options - lentils, chick peas, & veggies prepared with trad spices. Very nice injera as well. Only thing I miss are the garlicky collard greens that I've had at other Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants.
Read morePros: tasty, buffet, variety of veg offerings
Cons: no collards, a bit pricey

good value - Edit
Menu items plus a small buffet, half of which is vegan, which provides a hearty, tasty meal, since you can go back for more. Can be quite spicy. Friendly service.
