Omg - Edit
Omg this pizza is amazing! I love deep dish pizza and this is just really tasty. We had the mozzarella sticks, apes dos mil and bacon damn sure. I enjoy the vibe of being outside when inside which is what you get at the Zipper food court. Also, single stall gender neutral ADA restrooms with grab bars. No step to enter food hall.

Always Tasty - Edit
Best pizza and best people, hands down. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone who loves a good pizza, be they meat eaters or vegans. The gluten free dough is just as good as the regular dough, so our gluten intolerant friends don't miss out, either.
Read moreThere is a small area inside to eat as well as a large shared outdoor patio, with plenty of street parking within a couple of blocks.
Pros: Rotating specials, Variety of pizzas, Cheese sticks!
Cons: You can get a better salad elsewhere

First time diner- Cheeseburger Pizza is excellent! So good, I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting. Great value for the amount of pizza. Sourdough crust is light, airy yet still crunchy! Very good. The Kale Caesar Salad is wonderful, too!!

Boxcar Pizza is one of several other restaurants (non-vegan) in this complex that has a communal seating area. Seating area has a covered area with picnic tables as well as an open air area. Parking is anywhere on the streets. Order at kiosk or by phone and they text you when it’s ready for pickup.
Read moreNo custom build your own pizza but they said that if there is something you want added or removed, they can accommodate. Just no substituting one thing for another. I love the deep dish but found the bianca pizza to be very very salty. The Caesar salad made with kale was a bit tough. Would try here again ordering different items. Wonderful communal seating area.

Cant’ Believe It’s Gluten Free! - Edit
Hands down THE best gluten free crust EVER! And that it is all VEGAN?! This is heaven! The dough is handmade here – it’s crispy outside and fluffy inside, like its gluten counterpart. You don’t have to put up with flat, bland, cracker like gluten free crusts ever again! I forgot to ask but I feel their cheeses and sauces are made here as well. It is made to order so don’t expect “fast food takeout” times but it is worth the wait. This is the best pizza EVER!

I never knew I was missing Detroit style pizza in my life, but wow this was the best pizza, if not some of the best food I've ever eaten. I found myself licking the parchment paper 😅

Good but didn’t love it - Edit
One pizza is definitely enough for two people! Very filling! Maybe I should have ordered another pizza, toppings felt a bit lost on the pizza. Mainly tasted tomato sauce and dough.

Dreaming of this deep dish delish - Edit
Sometimes it makes me angry how good a meal is. I can’t explain it, but maybe it’s related to the knowledge that I could never replicate it. Not important right now - what is important is how stupid I was to never eat here before this week! I loved deep dish pre-vegan, and Boxcar is the perfect replacement for those old memories. The Jimmy Pesto was mind-blowingly good. Imagine a pizza on top of crusty, cheesy, thick dough and you’re just scratching the surface. And the flavors all complemented each other perfectly. The biggest dilemma will be if I order the same or try something new next time!

Absolute Perfection - Edit
Ever since we found out about this place we have been back EVERY single week…. And we live in Vancouver, WA - so it’s a small trek. I did not like pizza prior to discovering Boxcar but now I crave it 24/7. The go-to order is A Praise Chorus Pizza and an order of Mozzarella Sticks. Don’t forget the ranch on the side! The staff are friendly and attentive, great vibes all around. We will definitely be back (next week of course 😉)

Great Detroit Style Pizza - Edit
Never had a bad experience.
Read moreSuper friendly kind staff, great flavor combos for each pizza and they always have a rotating pizza special to keep things fresh. Wings are standard vegan wings, Caesar Salad is good.
Only thing I’d want more is maybe a second salad option, but it’s a pizza place so that isn’t needed.
Pros: Great Staple Pizzas, Always a rotating flavor
Cons: Would like more fresh salad options

Oh hell yes - Edit
I had no idea that Detroit style pizza was a thing but daaaaamn. What a delicious concept. Although the pizza dough is thicker than normal, it is light and airy. The cheese cooks into the side of the pie and gives it like a crispy cheesy crust. We got the steak pizza and it was so meaty I had to let my husband eat the steak off my pieces. 1 pie did us for a light dinner. We were hoping for the mozzarella sticks but looks like they don’t have them anymore. Lots of street parking around here and it feels lovely and safe. The back seating area is shared with a lovely bar and a taco pop up. We had no trouble getting a table on a Saturday night at 7pm.

a must-try - Edit
Everybody has an opinion on pizza. Personally I do appreciate a thicker crust but even if you prefer the floppy variety you owe it to yourself to visit Boxcar at least once. They have a bunch of fun topping choices but don't let that distract you from the fact that they do the fundamentals extremely well: the dough is something special, the house made cheeses are amazing (with a beautiful burnt crispy edge) and the proteins are great.
Read moreOur family of 4 (including a 13 and a 9 year old) can usually put down quite a bit of food, especially pizza, but we brought home a little more than a whole pizza worth of leftovers. This [censored] is dense and filling.
The mozzarella sticks, though expensive, were the best I've had in >20 years of being vegan.

Pizza Week Special - Edit
I have been to Boxcar multiple times and this week I tried the pizza week smash burger pizza. Ordering is done via self service tablet. The price of $12 for a whole pizza was good. Slices where $3 for pizza week. The pizza was pretty good and came out quick. I am not a huge fan of the vegan cheese they use as it is sticky and has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. The pizza week special is better than other pizzas I have tried here.

Vying for best vegan pizza I’ve ever had - Edit
This Detroit-inspired pizza with a foccaccia-ish crust is up there with the best I’ve ever had. Just really unique, and you can tell that a ton of thought and experimentation has gone into the recipes. Most vegan pizzas fall down for me on the cheeses, because in general I just don’t want more than a dab of chao, violife, daiya or teese, and miyokos is too expensive for non-gourmet spots. The cheese here is GOOD.
Read moreThe pizza I had was the Bianca. Several reviewers mentioned getting a red sauce on the side and I will say that yes…it is a bit gluey after the first few bites and seems to want a little acid to cut it.
The cake was also amazing.
Service is taken through an automated system that hits you up for a tip even though there’s no table service and you bus your own. The automated system did not have my preferred pizza and so I flagged down a person to ask if there were difference between the automated menu and the posted one. She said no and walked away. I kept searching and then asked about the pizza again, and was told that they were out of it. Ok…
Also somewhat unfortunate that though portions are perfect for sharing, there’s really not anything for a single person who doesn’t want leftovers to order.
