Lovely vegan options for a chippy tea - Edit
Unlike cappleman's take away in Scarborough the Pickering restaurant does do the vegan menu on a Friday.

Fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. Regular menu states everything cooked in animal fat. We were just about to leave when we questioned it and a full vegan menu appeared before our eyes!

Dogs are allowed in the restaurant which is great. There was no vegan fish available when we went so we had the battered sausage, mushy peas fritters and chips with a mushy peas and a spicy curry sauce. Very nice and great service

All vegan food cooked in a separate fryer.
Went for the pea fritters, onion rings and chips; which were all fab. The batter is so light and crispy and the chips are just perfectly cooked.
Warning! the portion sizes are huge! I ordered enough for 2 people, so bear this in mind.
Would definitely go back.

We really enjoyed our vegan ‘fish’ and chips, mushy peas, battered mushrooms and vegan tartare sauce. Lots more in the menu too.

I’m still dreaming about the ‘fish’, chips and tartare sauce, especially the sauce! Full vegan menu online including sauces. We all had the fish, chips and tartare and some mint and pea fritters (they were out of mushy pea bombs which I’ve had before and love) and some spicy curry sauce.

Plenty of vegan options, still relatively rare in fish and chip restaurants. Ordered the breaded mushrooms, onion rings and chips. The price led me to believe the portions would be quite small. None of it! Couldn't actually finish it all and needed a doggy bag. Tons of it, delicious and absolutely piping hot. Very, very impressed. Very pleasant waiting staff as well.

It isn’t easy to find vegan options in Pickering so we were delighted to see a board outside Cappleman’d announcing began and gluten free options.
Read moreI was even more delighted when went in and they brought a dedicated vegan menu! They didn’t have non fish fish and chips but no problem - they had plenty of other options.
I ended up ordering fishless fingers (small portion) with chips and onion rings. It also came with salad and vegan mayo
I’m glad I ordered the smaller portion because even so I couldn’t finish it - I really, really wanted to buy just couldn’t.
Prices were very fair and the staff were delightful

It's great to have vegan options in a town with few options. Click and collect works really well and vegan food is clearly marked on the box. Their sister shop is in Scarborough with similar choices. Definitely recommend
