Riquisima!

The portions are huge and the food is divine. Lots of modern dishes, lots of traditional Portuguese dishes. Very good experience. Majority of menu is vegan, do get a reservation because it can be very busy

Cocina tradicional portuguesa

La comida está buenísima. Fuimos para probar las adaptaciones de comidas tradicionales portuguesas y nos encantaron. La decoración, la presentación de los platos y el servicio fueron perfectos también.

Pros: Todo

Amazing food with a Brazilian vibe in the Boalhão-market

We enjoyed our Feijoada and Moqueca, and even more the Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert. Everything was incredibly tasty! Please be aware that the bread with dips they automatically serve as starter is not a greeting from the kitchen, it will appear on your bill. Overall a bit more pricey than other places, but definitely worth it!

Gute Hauptspeise

Pros: Leckeres Blumenkohlsteak, Klare vegan Kennzeichnung

Excellent meal in every way

There were numerous vegan options, including on the dessert menu, and everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. The servers were friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was warm and cheerful. It was an excellent experience from start to finish, and we will definitely be returning.

Pros: Delicious food with lots of vegan options, Friendly and attentive servers, Excellent ambiance

Food at the Bolhão

Food was nice. Seemed to be very understaffed and service was slow. Ordered soup to start, it came out cold. They fixed it straight away and the soup was good. Lots of vegan options. The location is cool on the second floor of the Bolhaāo. If you are only in town for a few days there are definitely better places.

Disappointed

As a solo diner, I was not given the free starter that showcases the type of food the restaurant offers. I ordered a dish with beans, rice, and banana casava flour. I wanted something unusual. It was not very good. The casava dish should be a small garnish, not a major part of the dish as it's high in carbs without adding nutrients. The rice was unseasoned, as was the casava. I got a pineapple mint juice that was sweetened with honey, but it was not sweet at all. Overall really not a good meal. The restaurant has an extensive menu. I think i just didn't like what I ordered.

Pros: Vegetarian menu

Cons: Flavorless food, Expensive, Not good for solo diners

Beware

This restaurant seems deliberately misleading. As soon as you sit down, they bring you a small plate of bread and dips — presented as if it’s a complimentary starter. No one mentions any charge, and only later you discover it on the bill. It feels like a deliberate trick aimed at tourists.

We also asked to have a dessert we didn’t enjoy packed to take away. Instead of offering a fair alternative, they refused and packed it carelessly — upside down, with all the icing stuck to the bottom — and then charged us an extra euro for the packaging without telling us beforehand.

The food itself wasn’t bad; in fact, the soup was very tasty. But the attitude and the way they handle customers feel intentionally deceptive, which is disappointing and unnecessary.

Pros: The soup was good

Cons: The money tricks

Not as good as I’d hoped

We were glad we booked as people were being turned away at 8pm on a Thursday night

Maybe it was because they were busy but we ordered main courses which took 40 minutes to arrive and weren’t particularly hot. For this reason we skipped desserts

Delicious and vegan

This restaurant is vegetarian, however the majority of the dishes are vegan - the menu is clearly labelled. It is above the main market, in a lovely dishes. All of the dishes were delicious. One of the best restaurants in Porto!

Delicious vegetarian food in the heart of Porto’s main market

Delicious vegetarian food in the heart of Porto’s main market

We had a wonderful dinner at Casa Vegetariana, located on the top floor of the beautifully restored Mercado do Bolhão. The setting is spacious and calming, with lovely views over the city streets—such a contrast to the lively market below.

The menu is creative and full of flavour, using fresh seasonal produce sourced directly from the market stalls. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Standouts included the vegetable moqueca, grilled asparagus, and a mushroom dish that was rich and satisfying.

And the banoffee pie—wow! Made with perfectly ripe bananas, it was a highlight of the night. Creamy, indulgent, and the perfect finish.

Service was friendly and relaxed, and the overall vibe is casual but refined. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious vegetarian or plant-based options in Porto. We’ll definitely return!

Nice but rather expensive

It is a lovely place and overall the food was good. However, for the price (which you probably also pay for the posh interior and place in general), I was not actually convinced by my tortellini.

Some vegan options

I wasn’t as impressed with this one as not as many vegan options as hoped for. I had an aubergine dish but it felt more like a side dish than a main meal. A bit chainy. We sat outside so perhaps inside would have more vibes. But more veggie than vegan and didn’t felt like much bang for your buck

Pros: Staff were very attentive and professional

Cons: Not as many vegan options as hoped for , A bit chain-ey
