What the ❓

Was excited to have dinner here, after reading positive reviews.
The chef came to our table & pointed out everything Vegan 🌱 which was appreciated.
We selected a few dishes, couldn’t believe they came served in disposable containers, felt a bit tacky, and made the whole experience cheap … which it wasn’t.
Flavours were ok … nothing really special.
My partner ordered a Chai and it was made with stolen mother’s milk.
Couldn’t believe it 😱

Pros: Authentic Indian food, Friendly staff

Cons: Disposable plates/bowls, No alternative Mylk, Over priced

Incredibly frustrating. I’ve been hesitant to go here because I’ve been to Indian restaurants before that mention vegan then yoghurt comes out and I always check but it is never coconut or soy yoghurt. Always dairy.

I had been to this place.. They clearly told they have few dishes which can not be made Vegan (only 4 of them out of 70 Plus options). I asked the owner why dont they keep soy Yogurt. The person told me that, it has been asked once in 6-8 months so it is not possible for them to provide it.
Their breads are vegan. about the plates they told me after COVID they started using as it is more hygienic than other.

The Best Maharashtrian restaurant in Melbourne

Chai N Chilli is hands down the best Maharashtrian restaurant in Melbourne! From the moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff make you feel right at home. The menu offers a delightful selection of authentic Maharashtrian dishes, each bursting with flavor and prepared with care.

The vada pav and pav bhaji are absolute must-tries; they transport you straight to the streets of Mumbai with their incredible taste. Don't miss out on the sabudana khichdi or misal pav—they're equally delicious. For dessert, the puran poli is a perfect sweet ending to your meal.

The restaurant's dedication to quality and tradition shines through in every dish. Whether you're a Maharashtrian food enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Chai N Chilli is a culinary experience you won't want to miss. Highly recommended!

Welcoming find

Nicely spicy and seriously welcoming on a blistering hot day. I asked for vegan options and was directed to these on the menu. what I had was fresh and tasty, I'd happily believe it's proper Indian street food. Will definitely be back after watching other diners' meals coming to the table cos they looked pretty amazing, too.

Pros: Knowledgeable about the menu, Super welcoming , Affordable

Cons: Seating is a little tight

Nice Indian Food 🇮🇳

Friendly staff, cool atmosphere, tasty food. Got the tali and the samosas. The potato curry in the tali was fabulous. Unforch they use takeaway plates. Unforch the vegan options aren't marked, but staff will know what's vegan. #aloimaak #ijwtt

Pros: Potato curry , Samosas, Plenty of vegan 🌱 options.

Cons: Takeaway containers., Vegan options not marked.
