Cooking class - Edit
After meeting her parents in Da Nang at their incredible restaurant, we decided to take a Vietnamese vegan cooking class with Ha. And what a great idea! She took us on a trip to the market, where she taught us a lot about food, plants and Vietnamese culture, and gave us some good addresses for other restaurants. Then the course was amazing ! A dose of good food, a layer of good advice and a good dose of humor. It was perfect, and all the staff were so attentive and friendly. It was a wonderful afternoon spent together, and we gained a lot from it. Thank you so much!

lots of different healthy stuff - Edit
the place is very health focused and the menu is inside an entire book 😮 nice food! we really enjoyed the seitan and the cashew cheese :)) everything is clearly vegan and its super nice to not worry about asking extra times about fishsauce and honey (literally so good that we came back again 🤯 would recommend the cheese plater and matcha smoothie bowl as well 🙏)

sorry just read your review and wanted to defend the restaurant a little bit, not wanting this to be an attack on you at all!
Read moreBut just looking at your photos it does look like you ordered 2 different dishes that have spring rolls and vermicelli noodles as main elements plus then you ordered a side of spring rolls! I'm not hugely surprised that you found the food rather similar. The menu has loads of different choices, the workers have brilliant English and are more than happy to help you order a variety of dishes. This place has had some of the most delicious food we've had throughout our South east Asia trip of the last year!
Hope you have a brilliant time in the rest of Vietnam 😁

Over hyped - Edit
Yes, the mission is amazing! The menu is huge! The ambience is lovely. But the price to flavor ratio seems disproportionate. You can get local, authentic versions of many of these dishes for half price or less.

Incredible - Edit
A sweet little restaurant down a side street with quick service and calming music. The food was unreal !! So incredible. Bao buns, pesto pasta, and the vegan cashew CHEESE was so amazing. Must try it- we ordered it as a side with some sourdough!! 10/10!!! We came back here several times.

Excellent Vegan Cooking Class! - Edit
Participating in Chickpea Eatery’s Vegan Cooking Class was one of the best things I did while in Hoi An. Ha was our instructor and she was incredible at showing us around the market and teaching us about local culture and cuisine. All the food that we made in the class was delicious, and I will certainly be making these dishes again at home. Thank you Ha and Chickpea Eatery for offering such a fantastic class in Hoi An!

Best food and cooking class - Edit
Delicious food, peaceful restaurant, great staff. My only complaint is that I didn't eat here enough. If you can spare most of a day and about usd $40, the vegan cooking class is absolutely worth it!

I went to this place in the afternoon. It was super quiet and relaxing. I had Cao Lau, which was amazing. The best I’ve had in Hoi An. Very fast, friendly service without being pushy. Reasonably priced, with very fresh ingredients. I’ll definitely be back!

This wasn’t one of our favorite meals in Hoi An, but it was still good! Took a little while for everything to come out even though it wasn’t very busy. Worth a try if you’re in the area, but wouldn’t go out of the way.

Best place you'll eat in Vietnam - Edit
Chickpea was incredible, so happy we found this place - lovely, friendly staff. Food was amazing, we had fresh spring rolls, tempeh skewers, bao buns and more. The first night we came, there was a cooking class finishing up, so we booked on to do it two days later. I would have come back to eat here every day if I could, unfortunately they were closed on the Thursday and we had some trips booked that meant we were away for food.
Read moreOn the cooking class - Ha was so friendly, she took us around the market showing us things, letting us smell herbs and spices. We bought fruit and other products to use in the cooking class. Ha also told us about local life, traditions and culture, not just food! Her instructions were great, the class was fun and enjoyable. The class was 1 million VND (about £32) and was about 5 hours. It was so worth it! I would recommend everyone do this class 😊
Pros: Fresh, tasty food, Friendly staff, Great atmosphere

Final feast - Edit
I totally went large for my final Vietnamese feast at Chickpea Eatery. It’s tucked away down one of the back alleys so don’t miss the turn and miss out on this place because it’s amazing.

Easily the best summer rolls of the trip, and I’ve had sooo many. Dipping sauce was bang on. I had the cashew cheese vegan platter too, the most expensive thing I’ve eaten but totally worth it. My son chose the tempeh screwers and pancakes: a winner for him too. Friendly staff. Very cute space. Lots of geckos.
