Gluten-free vegan restaurant located a short walk east of Keihan Sanjo station. Menu items include fermented vegan cheese (also for sale), veggie burgers, soups, brown rice risotto, organic pasta, quiche, pancakes, raw cake, smoothies, hot drink. No fried food. Open Mon-Tue 9:30am-8:00pm, Thu-Sat 9:30am-8:00pm, Sun 9:30am-3:00pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm. Closed Wed. Last order for lunch 3pm, dinner 8:30pm.

Lovely, cosy and friendly vegan and gluten-free restaurant. Really enjoyed the cakes - buckwheat pasta was a bit hard-going but fantastic if you’re gluten-free. A welcome sight in a city of fish and meat!

Having a place where you don’t have to stress about reading the finer details on the menu is always very comforting for me. They have baked goods in the morning and coffee/smoothies. No breakfast options though which made me sad.

What a treat finding this place. All of the food is vegan and gluten-free and obviously created with real thought and care. I tried the vegan quiche and the pizza. Choice make their own but based cheeses. Wow I wish this place was neat to me in the U.K.!

I had the 4 cheese table for myself, one of them was specially good, the other 3 where good but nothing I didn't have already tried. It was really expensive for the size, but I was seeing that coming. The "egg" sandwich was pretty good.

The service was lacking from the moment I walked in. It was very quiet which made me think they were closing when I got there as no one really greeted me or offered me a seat so had to go ask. It is self service water (no one told me). Had to chase them for my Tea as well.
The onion soup was ok, a little watery. The smoked housemade cheeze was a nice addition but you only get a blob of it and no bread with the soup. Then the pizza, this is where I’m conflicted. The housemade mozzarella was great, really great taste and consistency but the pizza was TINY. I was audibly shocked when it arrived and for the cost of ~¥2,000 vs the size, it is the most expensive pizza I’ve probably ever had. It had a very negative impact on the dining experience. It comes with a tasty Yuzu Drizzle Oil Sauce though.
The couple dining opposite me has the pasta dishes and they were a lot bigger for a cheaper price. Knowing that vegan cheeze isn’t always great (certainly in the U.K.) I was hesitant to try their fromage board but having tried two of the different types I wish I had.

Food was nice and flavoursome and staff were very friendly. Appreciated that the food was all home-made and it felt like a lot of effort had gone into making food from scratch and making it all vegan and gluten free.

Especially the buckwheat penne with spinach and chlorella pesto are to mention, also the very dark roasted coffee beans, which make up to something more of a Spanish café solo than an Italian espresso. The double might lift your head literally! Everything else, smoothies and black pizza (a funny optical twist made with bamboo charcoal) was well prepared and tasted pretty good. Also, they have every reason for being proud of their homemade cheese variety.

Choice is a pleasant and reliable place to eat if you want something else than Japanese style food for a change. The menu has some pretty basic options with pizza and pasta’s but while the food is not exceptional, we always leave satisfied.

Sometimes in Japan you just need a break, something easy. This is that. Varied menu, several interesting things (BLACK charcoal-crust pizza), some home-made vegan cheese (try them both!), extremely fresh salad (on the day I went). Whew. Thank you.

Oof, this was our worst meal of our trip. Totally beyond their control, they were sold out of many, many things on the menu by the time we arrived at 1900hr. What we were able to order (quiche, onion soup and stroganoff) was not great. The quiche was the best item - flavorful, nice texture! The onion soup was watery and lacked any real flavor. The stroganoff was not good and I could not shake how much it tasted like ketchup.

Both the gluten free pizzas were delicious, with a crispy base and a fresh tomato sauce. You practically can’t tell they are gluten free! The only downside is that the portion size is very small for the price.

Recommend the cheese platter, if you get it ask for more crackers though. The mains were the mains were ok not the best but still yummy enough to eat all of. We had the burger and the egg ok rice which was weird but surprisingly good even with the tomato sauce, who would have thought
