Wonderful Tea Room in Asheville - Edit
Dobra Tea offers a tea drinking experience unlike anything else in Asheville. It leans into its setting by offering seating on the floor surrounded by pillows, in a decorative space reminiscent of an Eastern tea room. Or at least, as much of an Eastern tea room as one can hope for in Appalachia.
Read moreI highly recommend ordering the tea service for the VIP treatment. The tea and cups arrive hot at your table. They have regular tables and chairs, but for a fun time with others, make sure to reserve the backroom seating that involves sitting on the floor. I promise it is more cozy than you think. For food, The seitan sandwich is a tangy, savory delight that has some of the best prepared seitan I have ever had. They made sure to cook the seitan well until it becomes tender, and the 1000 island dressing on top marries well to give it a bright kick. Outside of the sandwich, most options can be customized to be vegan.
For a tasty plant-based experience in Asheville, especially with friends or a date, I highly recommend checking out Dobra Tea room.

Great Tea and Groovy Ambience - Edit
Extensive vegan choices. I had a bowl of veggies over rice and it was quite good and the tea list is endless! Vegan baked goods too.

Not fully vegan but so close - Edit
Can accommodate just about any allergy or dietary restriction. Many healthy options. Best hummus ever. Uses Dare vegan cheese. Many vegan desserts (maybe more than half are vegan). Staff is knowledgeable on what's vegan. Your choice of coconut oil or ghee on kitchari - choose coconut oil or no oil for vegan. Beet salad comes with blue cheese but can be omitted or subbed with very delicious vegan cheese. Has dairy milk but drinks don't automatically come with it - choose oat or coconut milk. Many drinks come with honey unless you request otherwise so watch out for that. Banana nut toast comes with honey but can be omitted. Can be very busy, expect to wait a little.

Perfekt tea and good ingredients - Edit
The tea was perfekt and I had a vegan cheeseplate plate which tasted great. For a cheeseplate I hoped for more cheese because there were just two different kind of cheese and the rest was salad, vegetables, bread and fruits. Everything really tasty! But just not enough cheese to call it like that.

Just tea - Edit
Going just for tea is fun despite them not having many fruit or white tea options. I did not like my food. I got a bowl where all the veggies were wet and steamed with zero seasonings or sauce. It was tough to get through. I don't care for the desserts either because it is health focused and doesn't taste nearly as good as what I could be.

Must try place if you are visiting Asheville - Edit
Delicious tea room with complimenting menu of apps, various bowls, salad, sandwiches and excellent desserts. A large percentage of items are also vegan, with a wide range of items clearly marked. All deserts are gluten free. You must try the outstanding pistachio truffle ball! #Veganuary

I like both locations but this West Asheville spot has more vegan food options. Enjoyed the huge list of teas to choose from. The peppermint and yin zhen silver needles are high quality.

West Asheville location - Edit
The food at the west Asheville location is delicious. The Reuben and the noodle bowl are my favorites. I’ve been getting the iced tulsi chai for years. I appreciate that they have an array of plant milks. Sit on the outside patio if you can.

Cruel, truly cruel. - Edit
These people kicked me out! After being a long time paying customer, and truly loving this place. Durring the lockdown I ordered a to-go kale cszsar salad, and a new moon tea. When I picked it up I noticed the tea was in a honey jar with the wrapper half off, indicating it was a used jar, or a jar from their recycle bin.
Read moreWhen I got home I opened it and took a big swig.. it was soap suds and tea.
I immediately called to ask if i could return it, they said no, because they did not believe me, and rudely hung up. I told them when I called back that I could bring in the honey jar with soap suds, tea and the salad to prove my claim, but they refused. I then tasted the salad it tasted soapy too, which may have been due to my soapy palette, after sipping the soapy tea from that used honey jar. I am vegan & I am not a liar. I called back again and told him i could not eat the meal because of the soapy jar of tea, and how now the salad also tasted soapy. I asked if i could return it or get a refund. Again he refused, so I asked to speak with the owner he said the owner was out, and to call back the next day. So I called the owner the next day. The owner did not believe my story even though I told him that I could bring in the used honey jar with soap suds, tea and salad to prove my claim, but he refused and told me never to return. Even after one year they offered no path to return, no apology for the mistreatment, and no excuse nor explanation why they kicked me out. Cruel truly cruel.
Pros: There are not that many vegan restaurants in NC, So it really hurts when my favorites kick me out.
Cons: Very cruel manager, One mean staff member, 1 year later & still I am not allowed to eat here, I cannot give less than 2 stars or I would give 0

Yum. Driving through - Edit
I was driving through Asheville and found this place on Happy Cow. It’s close off 240, so it’s fairly easy on/off. Very creative menu options. I got the Forest Dragon tea and the Almond Chocolate Joyful NAR. Both were fantastic. Worth a visit. They have a large vegan offering.

Nice place with an amazing tea selection, but the vegetarian menu varies by location, and not all are as good as this branch. A nice place to relax and have a tea, though.

A true gem - Edit
We came in to order some food for our road trip home and loved the welcoming serenity of the place and the super friendly staff. Avocado toast, Buddhabowl, spring rolls and pistachio rose cookie were very delicious (oishi!!!!)and so fresh. The packaging and cutlery were eco friendly. Loved also their great selection of teas and beautiful pottery and the overall Japanese flair.

We stopped in on a cold winter day and had such a pleasant experience! I ordered a delicious Moroccan mint tea and it arrived in a gorgeous tea pot and was hand poured for me at the table. They also had some light/healthy vegan/gf menu selections but I didn't try those.

A must-visit! - Edit
I really enjoy trips to Dobra, as a tea lover and plant eater. Their tea list is extensive and sure to have something for everyone. The food is light, fresh, healthy, and delicious. Not everything is vegan but there are several options available. I usually order the spring rolls. They make a good meal for 1 or you can share as an app with another person. They're pretty big.

Good info to know: There are 3 Dobra locations, including 1 in downtown Asheville and 1 in Black Mountain.
Pros: Healthy Food, Extensive tea menu, 3 locations

High Vibe Freshness - Edit
I've always loved Dobra, and was so happy to see this space open on the westside with an expanded menu! Dobra West is an amazing little spot with consistently flavorful & fresh veg food. Really great soup & dahl specials ... plus ayurvedic kitchari, vegan tom kha, the freshest spring rolls ever, a yum veg & rice bowl with kimchi & shiitakes, etc. They have a rotating cashew cheesecake that is always AMAZE -- get it. Also lots of raw treats and chocolates plus some baked goods that contain dairy but look delicious. Everything is vegetarian, gluten-free and high quality. A great space to do work, meet up with people, or sip on some tea in solitude. The atmosphere is inviting and peaceful - lots of different seating options with cozy, cushioned alcoves in the back and open, sunny tables in the front. Some of the freshest, no BS, high vibe veg food in Asheville, no doubt. I feel nourished and satisfied every time I eat here.

Miso and veggie bowls, macrobiotic, ayurvedic, indian/thai cuisine. Awesome specials. Highly recommended. Be sure to adventure into the lush world of fine tea as well :)
