Epifcurean

I enjoyed the pancakes, but would have preferred the margarine on the side. I also would have preferred to add salt to the potatoes, but there wasn't any on the table. The house-made sausage patty was dry and we were overcharged a dollar extra for it.

Pros: all vegan

Cons: parking

Polenta Cake Benedict and Pancake

I enjoyed these dishes! I like that Epif has a small portion menu, and the half Benedict with a single pancake was plenty of food.
The Benedict consisted of spinach. Sausage, tomato and avocado smothered with a lemony mustard Hollandaise, with chives for garnish. Would have loved some black pepper to sprinkle, but it was so good I was scraping the plate.
The pancake was fluffy and sweet. Topped with vegan butter and sprinkled with sugar. It came with maple syrup, and next time I’ll ask for extra syrup. Great value, delicious vegan brunch in NE Portland.

Pros: High quality food, Small portions offered, All vegan

Cons: Decaf coffee only available as espresso

Bland, probably a bad representation of this type of cuisine

All vegan! Great, automatic 2 stars. Very surprised to see rave reviews on this one, surely it just comes from excitement that everything is vegan and the food is.. unique?

The flavored piscos are interesting and while I admire the efforts in creating a all vegan restaurant to showcase a cuisine that doesn’t get much attention, but the upscale presentation with tiny portions is laughable, only because of how bland each bite is (outside of the tangy condiments that are served alongside empanadas, Little flavor to the empanadas themselves, and they were quite dry)

Pros: Pisco, Fragrant condiments

Cons: Cold mashed potato dish, Dry Empanada, $$$

Fabulous and cozy vegan dinner spot

The menu is minimal, but the flavor maximal. Great for sharing plates with others. The servings are best ordered a couple per person to share, or for a light meal solo. The atmosphere is cozy, either seated at a table or at the bar. Great date spot.

I enjoyed the El Magnifica!, a drink, and the chocolate cheese cake.

A bit on the higher end cost wise. I will definitely be back.

Best Vegan Meal In Portland

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Food was amazing, drinks were amazing, had a lovely vibe and the staff were super friendly. Menu is all small plates which means you get to try lots of different options.

Very unique!

Vegan South American food?! Such a cool find. We came here to try a couple of small dishes and got the quiche and passion fruit cheesecake. Everything on the menu sounded very good, it was tough to pick. I was slightly underwhelmed with the quiche- tasted a bit dry and dense to me. The clear winner of the evening was the cheesecake. It’s tough to find good vegan cheesecake and this was absolutely one of the best I’ve had! I’d come back to try other dishes next time (like the empanadas). The space is beautiful!

Just lovely!

We stopped for dinner at Epif and sat at one of their private outdoor tables. Their ordering system is interesting, you are provided with a plastic covered menu and a white board marker. The menu is not huge so we were able to sample a large number of the items. For the most part the food was excellent. We started with the causa, cold potato made into a dough filled with vegan cream cheese and topped with a drizzle of chive aioli. I wish the aioli was available by the jar because I would put it on everything! Next we had the ceviche vegetables with mango, followed by beet bocadillo, which was slices of cooked beet topped by a fantastic house made cheese. It was served with apple slices that I honestly think were unnecessary. Just the beets and cheese were bursting with flavour on their own. Sopaipillas were next. Fluffy but crispy rounds of delicious pumpkin bread topped with sunflower seed pesto and house made mozzarella. The mozzarella was not as tasty as the cheese that came with the beets. But the lovely pumpkin bread still made it worth while. The quiche was honestly a bit if a let down. It wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t the best vegan quiche in the world and certainly was not as good as any of the other items. We rounded everything off with an amazing chocolate cheesecake. I don’t think it was technically cheesecake because there wasn’t a hint of cheesecake tanginess. It was more a slice of fluffy chocolate mouse. Lovely!

Hit or miss

Overall I thought the empanadas, the seitan sandwich and soup were delicious! However the stuffed peppers and root veggies with cheese sauce were not worth the price and the flavors were off. For 2 people, our dinner was $50 and we definitely had food to go.

Pros: Small plates, Amazing empanadas

Cons: Pricy , Flavors are hit or miss

Can’t wait to come back

I came here with a group of 6 and didn’t want to embarrass my partner by taking photos, but we ended up trying almost everything on the menu. All the empanadas were tasty but it seems that the cheese-tomato (A) and cream cheese were the favorites. The ajì verde was my favorite sauce; it’s very reminiscent of other salsa verdes that I also enjoy. We split all the small plates among us, which I don’t recommend for a large group unless you only want a small taste. A small plate is probably best shared between 2-3 people. However I was glad I got to try all of them! The pimentones rellenos and quiche were my favorites. The quiche texture was soft and creamy and the flavors were pretty unique. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Pros: Unique flavors, Their cheeses are so good , The omnis were impressed

Solid healthy dinner

Great cocktails and really good food, left a little to be desired when everything was said and done though. Would return but a little pricey for what you actually get, would be good place to start night or go for drinks and snacks before dinner.

Start Your Night Out Here

Epif is simply adorable. Think small plates, but nothing too filling. Pisco mini flight is a great way to start your night's journey! Cocktails are well done and food is comforting and flavorful. Forgot to get picks of the empanadas, but they're also yummy. Get the green salsa!

It's gonna be a 4 from me dawg

Overall, I liked the experience at Epif. I liked the great cocktails, flavors were good, service was good, and great atmosphere. Everything we ordered was pleasing and tasty. It lost a star for me because its a fancy restaurant vibe, which means its expensive, plates are small (yes, its a small plate place but fancy restaurants do the thing where each plate isn't enough food), and there's a lot of focus on how the food looks. The food looked great AND tasted great so solid 4.

Pros: Empanadas were fire, Good atmosphere, Woman owned and run

Cons: Expensive, Usual fancy restaurant problems

I used to love going here

In the past I would come often and get the empanadas which were perfect. There were other options that rotate at times. My last visit they said it was too time consuming to accommodate my sensitivities, which I completely understand. I do miss the empanadas though. My guests loved the piscos as well, though i don't drink so I wouldn't know.

Pros: perfect empanadas , bright flavors, bright atmosphere

South American Vegan deliciousness

Overall, the food is great. Strong flavors and bold choices. There are nit-picky things, but I did enjoy the meal. I will say that the empanadas and sopapilla weee delightful. The quiche was not my favorite, but it was not terrible. More of a matter of taste. Nice interior and easy to find. Quite an enjoyable experience. Also, I appreciate the focus on South American and not relying on Mexican flavors, which I also love. It is a unique palate experiences

Pros: All vegan, South American, which is often overlooked

Entire menu is plant based!

Had a lovely experience the other night at Epif where all the food is vegan and comes on small plates - but it’s all shareable. My date and I picked 3 dishes each and shared every one. We had 2 empanadas which were excellent, the salad, a polenta cake, the butternut squash bisque, and the fried pumpkin bread. I was stuffed! I didn’t even take any pictures - I was so enjoying the food and the company that I didn’t even think about it.

Pros: Everything is vegan, Warm and open atmosphere , Friendly service

Cons: Moderately expensive, Hard to find parking

Pretty good

The food here is pretty good and they definitely do a good job at plating and paying attention to detail. The cocktails are also good. It's just a little expensive for the amount that you get.

Pros: Tasty food

Cons: Portions are small for the price

Ok but underwhelmed

We came here with high expectations based on a number of reviews but found the food just ok. The stuffed peppers and salad were less than stellar—lacking in flavor and presentation. The quiche and baked empanada were better, but every dish was covered in dill which we found overpowering and lacking in creativity. With all the vegan options in Portland, I sadly wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Cute to go cocktail mason jars.

Empanada B was very greasy, but amazing, the Ají Verde sauce was bursting with flavor. Everything was well balanced with flavor. Much more we’d like to try.

One of kind experience

Epif is one of the best, most fancy vegan dining experiences you can have in Portland. Their food is art and the flavors come in fireworks. They have amazing cocktails, and scintillating, savory dishes. Treat yo self at Epif ASAP.

Very tasty

They currently have a limited menu and I ordered an empanada and the polenta (I highly recommend the polenta). I look forward to a time when they have a full menu again!
