Chain coffee shop with vegan cakes

There are no shortage of espresso houses all across Copenhagen. The coffee itself is average but they do have a good range of vegan cakes and treats - a chocolate ball, a salted caramel pastry, a muffin, blueberry pie with vegan whip cream and a number of cookies.

Incredible pastries

Loved the incredible selection of vegan pastries. So tasty and varied. The best selection I’ve seen and so readily available. We tried the cookie, blueberry pie and apple custard danish. Delicious!

Pros: Variety, Taste, Plenty of shops

Interessante

Meh

It is not the cleanest Expresso House I’ve visited. I was even afraid of drinking water from their glasses as even after I poured water in they still look dirty

Cons: Not the cleanest expresso house

Vegan friendly

Espressohouse have quite a few coffee shops in Sweden and Denmark. They are vegan friendly with wraps in Sweden and a avocado/hummus on rye in Denmark. They have soy or oatmilk for the te/coffee. Please not the powder used for the chai containes milk. Always ask, as recipies changes from time to time. It’s cozy and I like Espressohouse.

Pros: Few vegan options, Alpro soymilk, oatly milk, sproud peamilk.

Cons: Recipies changes. Choc ball used to be vegan, Chai contains milkpowder

Good Coffee

This chain is all over Denmark! It's got a classic coffee chain vibe. Found them quite good for veganising drinks - oat milk (oatly barista) and soya milk are free. They also do vegan frappuccinos and iced mochas which looked good. Not sure about food options however.

Pros: Free of charge oat and soya milk

Cons: Expensive-ish, Likely little vegan food options

Staff doesnt know anything

Dont trust staff on whats vegan and what isnt, they dont know and they dont care. For lactose intolerant people, know that they often use the same pitcher etc to pour titty milk and plant milk

Pros: Good vegan desserts

Cons: Ignorant staff

Mediocre in a good way

Espresso House is neither the best nor the worst of the bunch. They don't provide anything unique, but their approach to running a café at least feels somewhat modern.

I would rather choose many of Copenhagen's fine cafés first, but if Espresso House is what you have right in front of you and you just need a place to sit and have a hot cup of something comfortable, it hits the spot.

Pros: Might offer single origin and/or organic coffees

Reviews applicable to all Espresso House(s)

Espresso house coffee shops are all over Copenhagen, it's really easy to spot or bump into one. Because of their wide availability, it's a quite convenient option to have at any time at almost any place in central Copenhagen (and farther). They don't have many veg options to chose from, unfortunately and their prices are quite high, but in all the Espresso House(s) that I have been so far, the atmosphere and interior designs were pretty cool. Since this coffee shop chain is considered the Starbucks of Northern Europe (or the Scandinavian Starbucks), I would nonetheless choose it at any time over any other international coffee shop chain.
