Mother of All Vegetarians/vegans - Edit
Simplicity in All. All others out there are imitations of a well established tradition of All Govinda's in the world. #Veganuary

Pedi pizza daí, mas achei demasiadamente gordurosa, poderiam melhorar nisso que ficaria perfeito.

Burgers and pizza in an Indian restaurant - Edit
The set-up is quite interesting: Hare Krishna with Burgers and Pizza. The service is quite fast and the prices are ok. I quiet liked the pizza when I once tried it and the samosas are great too. Did not enjoy the saitan burger which was burned that I ordered last time.

Confusing and ridiculous set-up - Edit
The problem with my visit was that there are two venues called Govinda right next to each other, operating at the same time but bizarrely independently. This was compounded by the fact that one of them is described as a 'lancheria', which doesn't really have a translation in English and so it's difficult to understand what you should expect to be able to buy in which. On top of that, only one of them appears here and on Trip Advisor, and also on Google Maps so I had no reason to think there were two. I wanted the lunch buffet but unfortunately from the direction I was coming I saw the other one first. It was smaller than I expected and I could see no buffet, but I thought they must just have changed their offering. I settled for having a vegan burger, which was nice enough but unbelievably slow to be made and also expensive. I finally realized that something was going on when I saw Govinda wifi and asked for the password, but they said it was from the place next door and didn't know. So after the very slow burger I went round there but was too late for the buffet, which was very frustrating. It's incredibly bizarre that they don't just knock through the partition wall and offer the different options in the same space, let alone not even share the wifi. Note that Happy Cow is forcing me to give it at least two stars because it is vegetarian, even though there is no difference between eating dairy products and eggs and eating meat, and also even though it was a horribly stressful experience.

Hello, Salopian!
Read moreI understand your frustration, the information regarding both never was 100$% clear or easily accessible, and the time to prepare the burgers was long for me too (I noticed when went there alone).
I'm surprised due to "lancheria" didn't have a translation to English, it's a snack bar, also known in Brazil as "lanchonete".
As far I know, both Govinda have or had a passage connecting both, just for the staff. For years I had the burgers in the restaurant at the corner at night, when it also had pizzas, talking with friends I didn't notice the big delay (despite some increasing hungry), only recently I knew they were made in the snack bar. It seems the restaurant stopped working at night just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
I believe your review would fit better on Govinda Lanches page: https://www.happycow.net/reviews/govinda-lanches-porto-alegre-174680
I also tried to qualify another to another place as one star (which would be too much), but Happy Cow also forced me to give two stars... Now it is closed.
Cheers, and I wish you have beter experiences in Porto Alegre!

Best hare krishna food - Edit
good food, self service, good value, friendly service, nice place. currently almost all options are vegan. ghee is substituted by coconut oil. Most dairy products were replaced by cheese and vegetable milks. next to the restaurant has a snack bar serving the best X (cheeseburger) vegetarian and vegan In Porto Alegre. from Thursday to Sunday night is a vegetarian and vegan pizza with opcion delivery. the place is great to meet friends

Favorite place - Edit
Best hare krishna food and place forever and ever. One of the older veggie places in the city.
Read moreAbout their lunch: I feel like my mother has turned into a krishna lover. The food is simples but very tasty. The old pink house where they are seems to me a family living room. Recently they've created vegan lunch option.
At the afternoon, Govinda's snack bar is open (the best "cheeseburger" of Porto Alegre). At night, their pizzeria (with delicious vegan options!).
Twice a month at sunday nights, they celebrate in the restaurant with the ISKON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), music and meditation.

You should go there at night - Edit
From thursday up to saturday, it's another part of the family that runs the restaurant during the dinner time. They are totally vegan friendly and have great options for all the pizzas, sandwiches and everything else on their menu. The staff is great and i'm sure i'll have a great time.

nice lunch - Edit
the little sandwich bar on the side is open during lunch time, while the restaurant next to it opens at night. i am not sure about the exact times. we went to the sandwich bar around 4.30 and left at 6pm coz they closed, just to open the restaurant next door. in the sandwich bar they had gluten/seitan burger small/big and a grain burger which was vegan. they had peas, corn and salad between sandwich and burger with white mayonaise. the mayonaise was a little sweet but nice. they also had a vegan "Beirut" which is something like a big samsosa. they had more different samosas and small pizzas. lots of sweets and cakes for sale but they were not vegan. there are about 4 tables. lots of people came in to buy sweets or stuff to go. the restaurant has good size and the day we were they had pizza night. also vegan pizza. nice people

Awesome - Edit
High quality salad bar, rice, dahl, and a variety of hot dishes. They keep the sugar separate from the fruit juice so you can add your own and dont have to take in more sweet than you want (I love this!)
