Green Beans is a welcoming eco store, grocery store and coffee shop!

But it's also a restaurant and coffe shop where you can sample homemade products:
- vegan pastels de nata
- mille feuilles
- sweet and savoury croissants
- toasts, nuggets, burgers, sandwiches and even pizzas!
Of course, I tried the pastel de nata with cinnamon, succulent! and the mille feuille, perfect!
In short, the welcome was perfect, and I had a great time with Mario and the staff, who served me fresh, homemade products.

Well-stocked store with lots of vegan food and non-food items (clothes, cleaning products, etc). Lovely staff. We got a cheese croissant, and I would have preferred it to be served warm so the cheese would actually get melty, but other than that, great prices and portions! Definitely worth a visit.

Wir haben bei unserem Städtetrip nach Lissabon, dass Green Beans probiert und haben dort sehr leckeres Essen bekommen. Es gab die Suppe des Tages, eine Pizza Margherita und zum Nachtisch vegane Pastel de Nata. Die Kaffeevariationen waren auch gut. Der Service war sehr gut. Der Preis war angemessen. Die Qualität der zubereiteten Lebensmittel war hochwertig. Man hat geschmeckt, dass die Speisen gut durchdacht und hingebungsvoll zubereitet wurden. Die Location ist unterteilt in einen Shop für unter anderem Kleidung und hat im anderen Teil des Cafés einige Sitzplätze, um gemütlich zu essen. Wir waren unter der Woche gegen Nachmittag da und es war platzmäßig nicht so voll. Daher haben wir gleich einen Platz für zwei bekommen. Gerne empfehle ich dieses Café weiter.

If you go for sweet or savoury puff pastry, this is the place to be. It uses vegan meat and cheese replacements and it tasted really, really well. Also the sweet puff pastry filled with custard cream was very nice. The coffee though... if you don't like it with a lot of foam, covered with cocoa powder, the be aware or order a tea instead.

Went there for late breakfast/brunch and really loved it. As a shop it has only a few snacks, has more shoes/clothes. But they also serve food and drinks.

Best nata in town - Edit
On our first day in Lisbon we looked for a place to have breakfast and found Green Beans. It was quite a walk from our hotel but that didn't stop us from ending up there several times.
Read moreIn between the two of us we tried different sweet and savoury snacks and everything was really good. Loved the Tomato and Oregano Toast and everything sweet. We didn't like the Alheira Toast too much but I guess that's mainly because most of the fake meat stuff doesn't appeal to us anyway. However, my hubby who only stopped eating meat quite recently wanted to give it a try. However, best of all were the natas. We had them in different places but for me, they were best here. Coffee was great as well.

My Go-To For Vegan Lunch and Foodstuffs...!!! - Edit
During our 6-week stay in Lisbon, we discovered Mario and Alexandra's "Eco Vegan Concept Store": "Green Beans" (a café and vegan mercado), and "Sapato Verde" (an eco- and animal-friendly shop), located on Rua do Poço dos Negros (15 and 17, respectively), in the Misericórdia district of town. It was love-at-first-taste, as they say, for us! "Green Beans" has been our go-to for lunches (and take-home foodstuffs); we simply LOVE Mario's food!! There's always the friendliest of welcomes, and Mario knows how to conjure-up the yummiest foods-for-the-soul. His 100% vegan menu offers an excellent variety of simple and hearty lunch/brunch dishes, including must-have take-away pies and desserts. Everything we've had there -- and we've checked-in a good 4-5 times, thus far -- has been super-delicious and satisfying. (We can never leave without taking several of his pies back with us to the apartment!) "Green Beans" is a café within their storefront, "Sapato Verde" (manned by wife, Alexandra), which sells a myriad of "green" and sustainable products, from shoes, socks, backpacks and handbags, clothing, hygienic products, and the like. (We've made a number of purchases there, too.) Likewise, "Green Beans" has a very nice supply of goods of its own: refrigerated market products (tofu, seitan loafs, cheeses, sausages, drinks), as well as non-refrigerated/shelf-stable food items for sale (from sweets and spices, to chocolates and chorizo, legumes to linguiça). Mario's the chef, and despite being a one-man-show, he's been skillful at time-management -- even with other drop-in customers eating-in or taking-out within its small space. In sum: I cannot implore enough for anyone who's vegan (in diet and ideology) or plant-based to make all effort to find this slice of planet-forward thinking storefront! I, for one, make this review to bring as much attention to Mario and Alexandra's driving passion for healthy food and fair trade...!!! GO!!! 😄

Green Beans is an incredible place! It’s a cafe, a vegan store, and they sell food, shoes, and clothes. Everything they serve is vegan. On our first visit, we ordered the mushroom pizza, the No Fish sandwich, and a side of homemade chips. Oh my gosh, it was amazing! The No Fish sandwich is served with ‘mayo’ and greens on a Bolos lêvedos. Everything is made to order, and it’s totally worth the wait. While we waited for our food, we browsed the shop and found some delicious cheeses and other food items that we bought. The mushroom pizza is big enough for two, so I decided to pull my wait and eat not only the No Fish sandwich, chips, and two slices of the pizza. I’m so glad I did! The crust is thin and crispy, and it’s also tasty. The staff was super friendly and even brought us a sample of the No Chicken. Another dish I’ll definitely try again. The seasoning (house-made) was delicious, and the No Chicken had a great texture.
