Delicious tofu - Edit
We always stop here even if we’re just driving through. Sometimes you can watch them actually making tofu, so cool. Fried tofu with peanut sauce will satisfy even our non vegan friends.

Not very tasty - Edit
I wanted to love this place as the menu looks great, lots of vegan options, but the food was bland. Sauces bland as well. Maybe there are somethings on the menu that taste good, but not what I got. I ordered tofu squares, spring rolls, and Vietnamese sandwich.

Great food prepared and presented with care - Edit
I had lunch at H&S recently - got the BBQ tofu - and couldn't recommend it enough. I was told the dish is vegan by default. It came with a side of pickled carrots and daikon radishes, as well as some fresh tomato and cucumber the brightness of which contrasted great with the tofu. The food was ready pretty quickly and was presented beautifully as well.

Great local business! - Edit
All sorts of vegan options. That is what they serve first and foremost and they do it oh so well. They own Kentucky's only Tofu press! Tofu squares are great, paired well with their sauce and cheap. Their egg rolls, singapore noodles and pad thai are all things I would HIGHLY recommend.

Delicious, but be wary - Edit
While the food was delicious and the prices are more than fair.
Read moreThe restaurant ignored my zucchini sensitivity. We asked that it be put on the side (for my partner) or omitted.
They did neither and i found out that my intolerance extends to cross contamination as a migraine sets in during this review.
We recommend the tomato avocado rolls
The tofu in clay pot
The crispy shitake mushrooms
And
The orange tofu
We also had the vietnamese crepe but it was much too heavy compared to the other fare, very oily and the flavor profile wasnt there.

Asian inspired food - Edit
I have to say, I wasn’t that impressed with this place. The atmosphere was not very welcoming, tables dirty, bus bin full, no music. We tried the Vietnamese sandwich vegan, pad Thai, and spring rolls. The sandwich and spring rolls weren’t bad but I was disappointed in the pad Thai. It had zero flavor. The sauce tasted like nothing. I have had some amazing, flavorful vegan pad Thai and this was nowhere near it. I don’t think I’ll be going back since there are so many other better places in Louisville to eat.

one of the most delicious and beloved vegetarian/vegan friendly in the city - Edit
Heart and soy has so many options to choose from. Their tofu is made in house, and is the most wonderful I’ve ever had. Some favorites on the menu are the pad thai, egg rolls, miso soup, orange tofu, and potstickers. It’s always hot and amazing. Roots has such a fun fine dining vibe, and heart and soy is more casual and provided carry out, but you can order from both menus. #Veganuary

Heart and Soy makes my💗sing! - Edit
We found Heart and Soy and Roots by searching for vegan restaurants on Happy Cow and on Google. After visiting the website and realizing we could order carryout from both restaurants in the same order we were stoked! We called in our order for several dishes and specified that everything be made vegan. The food was hot and ready when we arrived for pickup! Parking on a side street was easy. (This could be because we went around 3 pm on a Friday.)
Read moreFrom Heart and Soy we ordered the orange tofu and bbq tofu sandwich. We also picked up a couple of desserts from the prepared food case. We got a chocolate peanut butter pie and a cheesecake.
The orange tofu was amazing! The tofu had great flavor and texture, the sauce was perfect and vegetables had just the right amount of crispness. The bbq tofu sandwich was so good! It was similar to a bahn mi but with bbq tofu. The chocolate peanut butter pie was a great rich treat! I found the cheesecake to be a little too sweet for my tastes, but my partner thought it was awesome.
We'll definitely be back for more food next time we pass through Louisville!
Pros: Delicious fresh food, Friendly staff, Fast service
Cons: Too many hours from our home to visit regularly

Not from Louisville so we used HappyCow to find this gem. The Vietnamese sandwich with vegan mayo spread was fantastic and the jicama rolls were a nice crisp surprise! I recommend this place everyone.

Good food - Edit
Visiting from out of town and this place is so unique! I got to try the spring rolls, orange tofu, barbeque tofu, and some desserts and all were fantastic. Full of flavor, excellent tofu, so fresh. The orange tofu was breaded but not crispy, so if you only like crispy tofu I wouldn't recommend. I know a lot of people who do not like tofu's texture unless it's deep fried/crispy, the non-vegan friends I brought did not like the tofu and ate mostly rice/veggies while I picked off their plates

How I love thee… - Edit
My absolute favorite vegan restaurant in all of Louisville. The tofu is exquisite, the bahn mi is decadent, the desserts are delicious, the smoothies are fresh, the tom yum soup is warming and hearty. I love heart and soy. Don’t order the pad Thai though, it’s mostly bean curds heh

Great food - try Roots next door when dining in - Edit
This was one of our best meals during our mini-vacation in Louisville. We ordered the orange tofu and Singapore noodles. Rice costs extra, and brown rice costs a bit more. As the reviews stated, the orange tofu is fantastic. The (homemade) tofu was cut in just the right shape/size to have the ideal ratio of sauce to tofu, and the veggies still had a bit of crunch for great texture. Singapore noodles were also great. Portions weren't huge, but definitely enough. Only with hindsight did we notice that the prices were the same at their more upscale Roots restaurant right next door. Knowing that now, we would have dined there for a nicer ambiance (and not having to bus our own table).
