Fast Food Heaven - Edit
The mission of HipCityVeg is to provide the best possible vegan version of a comforting fast food meal, and they have definitely accomplished it here. From crispy chicken tenders, to skinny shoestring fries, to thick, creamy shakes, to, of course, the juicy burgers, this place has just about all of your fast food cravings under one roof! They even have breakfast items and Philly cheesesteaks made vegan, right in the heart of Center City, perfect for a quick tourist layover. Pretty much every dish on their regular menu is a satisfying take on a fast food classic, although the seasonal specials can be a bit more experimental and hit and miss. I would not recommend the mock crab cakes, which aren't very flavourful, and the salads are also kind of mediocre, but I guess that's an accurate portrayal of a fast food chain, lol. My other gripes are not related directly to the food: it's fairly expensive, especially for the fast food vibe, wait times can be long sometimes, and seating can also be a pain. They have a very small seating section inside, and some additional seating somewhat awkwardly located in an adjacent building, plus in nice weather they do have a little outdoor seating area as well, but I swear, these seats are under an air conditioner or something that constantly drips water on them from above. I thought I was going insane the first time this happened to me…!

Yummy! - Edit
I realized there is a reason for so many pictures of the cheezesteak...it is THAT good. Loved the cauliflower bites. The service was great, and the food was hot and fresh. I am glad to see they are making more items in house. A go to spot for a guilty pleasure day!

Yummy fast food - Edit
Burgers & nugs & fries. It’s classic American fast food. We got the philly, tenders, onion rings, and several sauces. It was all delicious. We paid for extra pickle & didn’t get it, tho; wahwah. No worries; everything was delish.

Lies about Hours - Edit
The restaurant posted the wrong hours for when it was open on both this app and Google Maps. Would not recommend wasting time to come here if you don’t even know if it will be open.

Yum! - Edit
I ordered a spicy sweet crispy chick'n wrap, fries, the limited time "not so crabby patty", and two pride shakes.
Read moreThe wrap tasted really really good but it was very very small, it could fit in the palm of my hand. I wish that it was larger.
The fries were great, no notes.
The limited time patty was good but the sauce was over powering, it was a little too cheesy, and the burger felt apart quickly. If you like cheese then this is a great option. Overall good but there wasn't really a crab taste.
The milkshakes were super good! The pride milkshake tasted like strawberry and birthday cake ice cream. Very thick.
Overall I enjoyed this place. And yes it is expensive but vegan food typically is.
Pros: Fries, Milkshake
Cons: Portion size

I had a craving for a cheesesteak and HipCityVeg delivered! I had the cheesesteak with a side of cauliflower nuggets. Fantastic savory flavor, good portion size (not too big, not too small). The staff were friendly and professional and ensured I got my food in a timely manner. A great lunch! #Veganuary

The employee told us it was going to be a long wait right after we ordered instead of warning us before. The employees were having loud personal conversations, which was annoying and unprofessional. The Quinoa Chili was served lukewarm, but the fries were crispy.

Best Cheesesteak in Philly - Edit
I never leave reviews but the cheesesteak here was so good I had to. If you only try one philly cheesesteak it should be this one. Ordered with fries and the mocha cold brew milkshake and it's all amazing. The HipCity dipping sauce is also really good, it tastes like Chick Fil A sauce. Honestly the best greasy fast food type vegan meal I've ever had.

ALWAYS SO GOOD - Edit
Seriously wish I had a HipCityVeg in my town, but then I’d have like no money from always ordering from here so I guess it’s for the best. All the chick’n sandwiches are so tasty, and the onion rings are fantastic 🖤 the HipCity sauce is also DELICIOUS.

As good as other HipCitys, maybe better - Edit
I went to the Ardmore one as well, this one was just as good, honestly maybe better food quality wise. I am always blown away by how good hipcity veg is. My only gripe is that the interior of this location is very VERY small there was a sign that said extra seating through a back corridor, but it was just a little awkward. Space in Center City is probably a premium though so I will not fault them for that, and City Hall is close by and there is a park right there you can usually find a spot to sit and eat worst case.

Underwhelming - Edit
I’m not quick to give a mediocre review but I was left underwhelmed when I stopped in for a snack. $6 for 4, yes 4, onion rings that were overcooked and left uneaten.

BEST Vegan Cheesesteak! - Edit
HipCityVeg was the grand finale of my Philadelphia culinary adventure, and my goodness, was it worth the wait! With my vegan journey spanning seven years, I've had my fair share of plant-based cheesesteaks, but this one takes the cake. Also, the staff exuded friendliness, and the energy at HipCityVeg was positively electrifying!
Read moreI ordered the Philly Cheesesteak ($13.95), a mouthwatering masterpiece with grilled steak, maitake mushrooms, grilled onions, mozzarella cheese, and a generous amount of ketchup, all nestled within a long roll. Every bite was delicious – the vegan steak was unbelievably tender, the cheese melted flawlessly, and the mushrooms added an unexpected depth without overpowering the dish. My only wish? That they'd cut the sandwich in half for easier eating – it's messy, but oh-so-fun. And yes, extra napkins are a must!
As a sidekick, I tried their onion rings, and they were nothing short of ideal. They were battered and fried to golden perfection, delivering a satisfying crunch and an aroma that was downright heavenly. However, I must admit that the hefty price tag of $5.95 for just about four onion rings left me a bit surprised and that I can't justify.
Opting for takeout, I walked to Love Park, just a 10-minute stroll away. There, amid Philly's vibrant atmosphere, I savored every bite with the cityscape as my backdrop.
