Spectacular!

Staff was really lovely and made us very welcome and comfortable. Ordered the fully vegan and gluten free breakfast, my hubby the tofu burger. Also green smoothie and a Karma Cola. For dessert, the Ferrero pie. Everything was soooo tasty!!! Highly recommended!!! It is in a hidden spot, but so cool.

Pros: All

Great location, amazing food.

We came on a lovely summers day and sat outside with the sun right in our faces. We ordered and the food was promptly sent out and it was definitely full of flavour. The ruben sandwich was my first ever vegan version of this meal and it did not disappoint!

Pros: Tasty food, Great location, Lovely staff

Cons: Hard to find if you've never been

Amazing food!

I had the all vegan breakfast and it was divine. My friends had sandwiches which were also great. To top it off, I had one of the best vegan cheesecakes of my life.

Not amazed

Firstly they don't serve any alcohol, not even non-alcoholic beer which I find very strange, since I like to have it for launch.
So I wanted to order a chai latte - they didn't have it at the moment.
I ordered a mushroom steak burger. It should have sweet potato chips regarding the menu, but they bring just normal chips.
The burger was kinda bland, nothing special. Half of the burger was basically just a bun with a sauce, because the mushroom was kinda small. I wasn't satisfied with the food either.
The only plus was the stuff, the waitresses were nice, which is the only reason I am giving an average score. I would not go again.

Pros: Stuff, Bio ketchups on the table

Cons: Missing items from menu, No (even non-alcoholic) beer

Good food and great portions

The menu is not very long but the food is great. Burgers are big and not ordinary. The best part for me was the cake! They all looked great. Prices are slightly high but good value

Delicious sandwiches!

I ate the Ruben sandwich (vegan cheddar, pastrami, saerkraut and some kind of russian sauce) and my companion ate the Beetroot sandwich (roasted beetroot, rocket, walnuts and vegan feta). We really liked our sandwiches! Also, the place was really cute and service was friendly!❤️🌱

A word of warning: the portions were big! I can assure that you will not leave with an empty stomach!😄

It's open when you need it!

Visited twice on my latest trip to Edinburgh as the gallery I'd been at had sold out of their single vegan cake option (?!) so knew I could come back here.

Had tried a burger for the first time the night before - reminded me of a McDonald's burger but healthy and vegan! Amazingly done and unexpected from the description but very nice.

It's brilliantly open until 10pm so great when you're wanting food/drinks throughout the afternoon and evening.

Large portion sizes, friendly staff. Had some good music on when I was there too.

It's so nice to have actual options and to think you're eating decent food.

Enriching. Lovely.

Fabulous, healthy options

I just LOVE it when vegan restaurants/cafes actually serve VEGGIES. We loved every single item we tried here. Shame we had no room for dessert because the cheesecakes looked amazing.

Massive burgers, friendly staff.

Nothing not to like here -absolutely huge burgers and a really delightful woman working the front. Meals came out in a pretty quick manner and felt healthy to eat, which you really don’t get too often getting a vegan burger. Highlights were definitely the buns, really great texture and delish! If I have any critiques, it’s that I would describe the flavour as reliable - not the greatest burger I’ve ever had, but it was absolutely massive and really fresh ingredients were used.
We got the qtr pounder and the mushroom steak burger, both solid options. Recommend an autumn spice tea to finish with - really helped all the food to sit well.

Pros: Autumn spiced tea, Mushroom steak burger , Qtr pounder burger

Cons: Price point is quite high

Big portions

When I arrived there was a bigger table that had just done their ordering so unfortunately for me it was 15 minutes until I ordered. The good did come out fast once I did order. The tofu burger was delicious, big portion. The bun (made in house I believe) was very dense and sweet. The burger did fall apart 2 bites in but nothing a knife and fork can’t help with.

Pros: Food was delicious

Cons: Wait time to order

Amazing food

I had the Pulled Jackfruit burger (with fries) and the Turmeric Latte. The flavors were exceptional and the portions were very generous. It was a little hard to find but inside the restaurant is serene and lovely.

Pros: Delicious, Beautiful interior, Kind service

Loved it

We came back here three days in a row because we loved the food so much. Our highlights were the Oyster Mushroom Burger (to die for) and the Scottish Breakfast (delicious all around). The Chocolate Cherry Cake deserves special mention as well. Staff was lovely and attentive too and the interior is cozy. Big recommendation all around!

Delicious vegan cafe

Went here for lunch. Their soup of the day was one of the best soups I've had, and their chips are really good!
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere made this 5 stars for me. Bit of an odd selection of cakes - only one wasn't a cheesecake!? But I suppose they rotate the options and usually that wouldn't be the case.

Decent vegan spot

I liked the food I ordered even though it was nothing special. We had to wait for long to be served and the service in general was really chaotic and unprofessional, they even forgot first to bring us the cutlery and then the water.

Nice

The food was nice enough but didn't blow me away. Very good selection of cakes though. The restaurant made everything I was wearing absolutely stick though which was frustrating.

Did not impress but I will be back

I quickly visited Holy Cow during my visit to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I had a jackfruit burger which, in my opinion, was pretty average, the patty even disappointing. I believe it was made of quality ingredients, however, I've had many vegan burgers in my life and my expectations were slightly higher. Staff were nice though and their cakes looked yummy, so I will be back to try more items from their menu.

Pros: Centrally located, Long opening hours

Perfect spot for a healthy bite

This was our first stop in Edinburgh, and it did not disappoint. We had their full Scottish breakfast, which was great. But the highlight was the Victorian sponge cake. Holy Cow is a little oasis in a busy part of the city.

Delicious burgers in Edinburgh

We had some really good burgers in Holy Cow. We loved the fact that everything is home made, even the bread buns. The fries are hand cutted and delicious as well.
We tried one with mushrooms and another one made from kidney beans and soy. They were spectacular!
We also had some dessert , the Banoffee cake (really good).
A bit expensive though, but we're talking about Edinburgh.
Well located, near to the city centre, and staff lovely.

Pros: Homemade , Delicious , Well located

Unfortunately this is not it.

I hate giving bad reviews to vegan places, but the experience here was pretty bad. Went in and it smelled of bleach, the cleaning stuff they use for the tables is painfully strong. The music was good until the door to the kitchen was open and then we got two soundtracks fighting with eachother which was so distracting and sounded awful. One person doing their best to serve everyone but they were rushed off their feet, I felt stressed just watching them. But, what it comes down to is the food. The quarter pounder was so underwhelming especially after reading reviews here- it's so dry, pretty bland, I've had better burgers from the supermarket. The kind of burger that's so big you can't actually pick it up. Chips were pretty decent though. Made the mistake of asking for mayo, which tasted like plain margarine? Wish I'd chosen somewhere else.

P.s. this might sound harsh but as an autistic person the smells and sounds were a really rough sensory experience for me.
