Cheap Good Eats - Edit
Juan’s Flying Burrito is college food in the best sense. It’s inexpensive, filling, tasty, and served in a no-frills atmosphere with a slightly punk rock aesthetic. Delicious salsas.

Much Improved - Edit
We visit New Orleans at least once a year and have been going to Juan's since their OG location in Mid-City. Years ago, I would've given them three stars. They were basic, but it's so rare to find vegetarian/vegan options in this city, that I was just grateful for what I got. It's been three years since our last visit and we were all very pleased with a new-found flavor and creative menu options. I got the tofu Bánh mì tacos and they were so so tasty! My daughter got the Veggie Punk burrito in a bowl, which comes on a bed of French fries. Can't go wrong with that! Everything was tasty and very inexpensive. Can't wait to return!

Wishin' for 3.5 stars. - Edit
Overall good experience, not very good... but better than "fair". First off, service was great. Menu items included a good amount of vegetarian options that could be made vegan by removing cheese (of course actual labeled vegan options would be preferred). I ordered chips and salsa to start and had a burrito bowl (without tofu because they were out!) with chips - sooo much food for the price, we left with leftovers.

Cons: Maybe out of tofu... , No labeled vegan items

Ok but not awesome - Edit
The staff were super nice and decent options but they don’t separate from meat enough. There was a bit of meat on the outside of my burrito.

Great Options Poor Execution - Edit
They have great vegetarian options however I found bits of pork in my Burrito Verde. They offered to remake it while precising that it might come with meat again that it was just a "gamble".
Read moreWhen I first ordered the waiter asked me how strict I was and mentioned that it was a shared grill but that they were cleaning it up first. He added that they were "definitely not a vegan restaurant" which was a bit of an odd remark in my opinion. Those comments make me things that it must be a common issue they run into. When I talked to him afterwards he said they were using the same spatula for meat and vegetarian options (?!). They are clearly not able to guarantee that their vegetarian/vegan options are meat-free. They charged me the full price for my burrito that I ended up not finishing.
Service was great and they had solid vegetarian options that are easily veganized. Execution is simply terrible unfortunately ...
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Meat in vegetarian options, Can't guarantee "no meat" in veg options

Not bad - Edit
I like the Magazine location way better for atmosphere and service, but this one was beside our hotel. I love that they have so many options and good tofu, but the green burrito I had was kind of an oil bomb.

Fabulous! - Edit
This is a really cute little place that "gets it"! We ordered three burritos to sample for take-out; the bartender suggested the Mardi Gras Indian tacos, so we got those, too. Everything was fresh, healthy and simply delicious! For a couple of middle-aged vegetarians who love to travel but struggle with locating great meal options, this place was a wonderful discovery. We visit New Orleans annually and will DEFINITELY return to Juan's Flying Burritos!!!

We go back to Juan’s every time we’re in New Orleans, and it just gets better! Loved the barbecued mushroom quesadilla, chips and salsa and the best Bloody Mary I’ve EVER had in a restaurant last night. Bravo, Juan’s Flying Burrito!

Had a great meal here. Not too many vegan options, but the one I ordered was fantastic (sorry, cant remember name). It was a rice / salsa / salad / veggies dish with wraps. I added spicy tofu. Delicious and very filling. Friendly service. No vegan section on menu. Would come again.

Decent option - Edit
I really appreciate finding vegan Mexican food that doesn't use lard and chicken broth in everything. I ordered the super green burrito and added tofu. It was tasty but a little pricy for what you get. You don't get a side or chips, etc. and they charge extra for the tofu but were very light handed. Overall it's a good option and they have a nice bar and drinks to choose from.

Pretty alright - Edit
A decent amount of vegan offerings. Nothing you couldn’t make at home. Guac is... fine, but I’m also weird about tomatoes in guacamole. In that I don’t think they need to be there. Taco salad with tofu was solid & the chili lime vinaigrette was good. Also happy hour is a good deal if you’re into margaritas. Which I am.
