Family run restaurant with a lovely welcoming atmosphere and separate vegan menu beautifully curated by one of the team. We sat on the raised second level and ordered a Tarka Daal (Yellow split lentils cooked with cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and turmeric) and Amritsari Chole (Chickpeas cooked with ginger, garlic, onions and tomatoes, finished with freshly ground spices) served with rice and garlic naan bread. The vegan wine we originally selected wasn’t available so we had a couple of refreshing bottles of crispy cold Kingfisher instead. A most worthwhile experience indeed

Lots of options for entrees and mains. We had the pakoras and onion bhaji, which were both great (but I preferred the pakoras) plus the okra and chickpeas dishes and dal makani. (My husband says the dal makani is better at the Porirua Little India.) The okra dish was a little oily but very very tasty. Overall it was yummy and very filling.

It was genuinely delicious and a real touch to have Naan Breads that were vegan friendly. The curry was delicious - we had a Dhaal and a Aloo Ghobi, as well as samosa, bhaji, rice and garlic naan. Forgot to take photos as I consumed it all very quickly.
Read moreOnly downside was that they brought out a non vegan dip with the vegan order, and then said ‘it comes with this dip but it isn’t vegan so I guess you don’t want it’.
But fair enough, better to ask than not mention it. It really is great.
