Various bento options - Edit
Only takeout unless a reservation is made for a party of 4 or more. The takeout I got was nice fake meat. A bit pricy, otherwise I’d give it 5 stars. Still, a nice option to have in the area!

At the moment you can only eat in if you reserve the entire place so I’ve only had takeout/delivery, but everything I’ve had from here has been amazing... AND healthy?!

Intimate, casual experience - Edit
Klasina's vegan lunch platters seem to be a side hustle: catering is likely the owner's primary gig. A local friend made a reservation for three of us on a Saturday, and we were the only party there. (I know the English version of their website says that reservations must be made three days in advance, so I don't know what magic my friend worked to get us one two days in advance.) The ambiance felt nice and cozy.
Read moreThe platters (with soy milk miso soup) were ¥2,000 per person, and there was also a drink minimum of ¥600 per person, which I thought was a bit steep given that the cheapest drink options were coffee and tea. (They do have wine, but that's even more expensive, of course.) Dessert isn't included (¥500), and she only had blueberry muffins that day. She had to reheat one from frozen in an oven, which I guess she wasn't very experienced with: the first one came out cold in the center, so she tried again. The second one was still a little bit chilly in the middle, but after having waited 30 minutes to get the second one, we decided to keep mum about it.
The big plate itself was lovely: the vegetables tasted fresh, and our favorite items were the karaage and the curry tofu on top of a skewer. The dill carrot salad was also delicious even to my partner who isn't vegan and doesn't usually eat carrots. Although it was good, I'm not sure I would go back a second time since it seems like there are too many hoops to jump through just to eat there, and having a drink minimum seems superfluous.
Pros: fresh vegetables, excellent flavors
Cons: requires advanced planning, drink minimum, takes up a bit of time

A "hidden gem" in Shimo-kitazawa - Edit
Email klasina.hiro@gmail.com for reservation (English written/spoken).
Read moreThis is a small restaurant with a somewhat flexible schedule.
I dined at Klasina on my last night in Tokyo and I was super impressed! Each dish I had was flavoursome and unique. The menu for that night was "à la carte" and I only wish my stomach could handle more food. I had a hijiki seaweed and tofu (wow, just wow!), kakiage of Maitage mushroom and Okinawan spinach, and stir-fried black vinegar with soy meat and eggplant (I've yet to go wrong with eggplant in Japan). It looked like the menu changes regularly, so you might get some different options, but I'm sure they are also delicious!
Don't pass this one up!
Pros: Many choices, Friendly service, Delicious

Deliciously unique Japanese vegan cuisine - Edit
I live in Northern California and have tried different vegan restaurants in the Bay Area. I am usually on business trips to Asia, and I have to say this is so far the best vegan restaurant I have come across. I started visiting KLASINA in November, 2018 and was surprised by how rich the taste of vegan food can be. Not only vegan meat is offered, many different types of dishes are available. I enjoy both their set lunch and dinner plates. A couple of weeks ago when I was visiting Japan again, I went back to try the Banshaku on both Saturday and Sunday nights with my friends. My favorite beverage is their homemade ginger ale. It is so delicious that I ate every piece of ginger that was in my drink. The owner is very friendly and she usually would talk to the customers after dishes are served. I really enjoy the nice atmosphere of this restaurant in Shimokitazawa. It is as if I discovered a gem. I definitely want to share my experience with other vegan food lovers and seekers.

Soooo good! - Edit
This is full pot!
Read moreWe reserved a table at 7PM even though the opening hours are between 10AM to 4PM.
We were the only guests (four people) and there's only one table so I guess this is usually how it works. The place is 100% vegan and the food was very varied and delicious.
The owner was super friendly and we spoke a lot. She even wanted pictures of us because she was so happy we came to her place which isn't too known (I was the one adding the listing on Happy Cow). I hope to visit again soon!
