Serves meat, vegan options available. Focacceria offering labelled vegan varieties including plain, sesame, zaatar, potatoes, barese and avocado. Open Sat 9:00am-9:00pm, Sun 9:00am-7:00pm.
Long had I coveted this particular restaurant’s bread-based creations, so when I unexpectedly espied their stall propping up the main avenue of the market, it was sure-fire sign that the unnecessary wait was over.
No sooner had the first plate landed, I knew I’d been a fool to delay in getting to this point for so long. Both of the offerings were fabulously fresh, and thoroughly delicious, though each gave something completely unique. The Barese was a prime example of simplicity done very well, and the Avocaccia was an absolute flavour bomb - this one being a clear favourite.
Also, an unexpected sighting of British boxing legend, Nicola Adams, was a curious addendum to this experience. Nothing quite like the catching the eye of an elite athlete while you’re ploughing dough into your face to make you quite so aware of your shortcomings.
Internal turmoil aside, I couldn’t have been more pleased with this pit-stop. Eminently repeatable, I have little doubt that I’ll be back here on numerous occasions.
