Healthy and tasty generous portions of vegan fare

Loved this place! Good vibe and has cool art throughout the place. It is quiet and the service was great. We had the Soylent Green bowl for $9.50 which is:
Sauteed kale and steamed broccoli on a bed of quinoa topped w/ house -marinated tempeh. You choose three different sauces and we had the cilantro-pesto. It was a generous size portion, so we shared it and split a vegan cookie. The bowl was healthy and tasty. I loved the photograph of Frank Zappa and his family which was poignant.

Pros: Healthy and tasty generous portions of vegan fare

Healthy and delicious

While looking for parking for another cafe, we stumbled across Laughing Planet and decided to check it out. The menu is extensive and almost everything on the menu is already vegan, or has a vegan option. The options are very healthy and very gluten-free friendly as well.

I ordered the Thai Bowl and my boyfriend had the Harvest Bowl. The Thai Bowl was out of this flipping world, and in my opinion, much better than the Harvest Bowl.

They also have beer and a variety of cookies! But the best part? Dinos. Dinos everywhere. 🦕

Great food and service

The Tempeh Royale was a fat, flavorful burrito filled with black beans, brown rice, tempeh, sautéed kale, pico de gallo and guacamole. The side order mushroom taco was a delicious, open face corn tortilla topped with sautéed mushrooms, guacamole and radish slices. Food service was fast and friendly.

Pros: Delicious vegan options, Friendly and fast service, Vegan cookies available

Consistent Quality and Care

I appreciate that every item can be made vegan. I’ve ordered from here dozens of times and not once has there been an issue. Always correct substitutions, fresh ingredients and delicious. Wonderful vegan sauces like their avocado lime and red pepper sumac are excellent. I like that I can order simple side dishes like brown rice, beans and veggies and add one of their vegan sauces when I’m not in the mood for anything fancy. Also they use eco-friendly packaging for takeout.

I LOVE Laughing Planet

This place is INCREDIBLE. I tried to give 5 stars, but the app won’t let me since they do serve meat. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Laughing Planet, and I’ve never been to this location before now. It’s even better than I remembered! Healthy and delicious, they do have meat items but everything is easily made vegan. I had a SW green chile burrito and the West African peanut soup. It was all vegan, with vegan cheese and vegan sour cream on the burrito. It was so good!! I had only had their bowls in the past, which are also outstanding. Laughing Planet blows my mind every time with their quality, and reasonable prices. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Pros: Tons of vegan options, most soups are vegan., Everything on the menu is easily made vegan., Healthy and delicious!!!

Amazing clean food

I love eating here. Everything comes in bowl or wrap form. Great salads. Fresh juice and smoothies. Local ingredients and always some seasonal veg (eg Brussels sprouts) you can add to their staple dishes offered for like a buck. The food here makes you feel good. Vegan and paleo options and they switch sauces and grains on request. It's a little noisy because of acoustics, but the food is incredible.

Pros: vegan options, they will switch ingredients around at no charge , local fair

Cons: echoey acoustics make this not an intimate eat, bu

Solid vegan option

I loved Laughing Planet when I was vegetarian and lived in Eugene. But, they are still great for vegans. They can make almost anything vegan, but do label the items that are already vegan on the menu. They have vegan cheese and vegan sour cream, as well as tofu and tempeh. The Cuban has been my fave for years. Get it deluxe! They also have kombucha and are reasonably priced. It's an order at the counter place. They have several locations in the region.

Pros: Vegan options labeled. , Can make most items vegan. , Long standing, veg friendly restaurant.

Delicious and filling

I loved the amount of vegan options on the menu. I ordered the tempeh royale burrito and it was fantastic!! The tempeh was marinated perfectly and all of the other flavor combos came together. It was also very filling, definitely worth it!

Pros: vegan options

Low price, Low taste (usually)

If you get the right items here they can be pretty tasty, but a lot of the burritos are just bland as all can be. Here's a quick tip for everyone using Tillamook cheese in their food. Use the 2-year aged white cheddar or (better yet) 3-year aged white cheddar, because everything else they make is worthless filler at best.

I did have some really good soup there last time I was there, and the prices are always spot on for what you get. Chips & Salsa ain't bad either. Nice spot and the food comes at you super fast. Ingredients list available on request for all of their soups and stuff and I was surprised their was no filler or chaff at all in their soups, just the good stuff. Overall a borderline 4 cow experience, just depends on what you get and who is the cook that day I guess.

Pros: Service, Price

Cons: Food can be hit or miss

Awesome

Burrito was amazing and Salsa and chips were really good too, Atmosphere is rad and I really liked the way they had a lot of "themed" burritos, also you can get anything as a salad or bowl and prices were good!

Pros: Good Food, Veggie Friendly, Great Guac

Cons: Out of the way a bit, Usually a line

Try the Soylent Green!

I really enjoy the grain bowls, such as its Soylent Green. The tempeh and mushroom gravy are great! The staff was really friendly to me, and I was a smelly, sweaty, hungry & thirsty customer who just bicycled a long ways. The delicious iced tea had free refills [even for dehydrated bicyclists].

At least the meat they serve isn't factory-farmed. I hope they've remedied the problems from their earlier negative reviews. I wish service, atmosphere & a menu like this could be found in the SF / Berkeley area!

Pros: excellent food, great selection, great value

respectfully Mitch (I enjoy your reviews and such) from one vegan to another, you should not defend a cafe's meat usage or selection. it demeans you, us, and the lifestyle; especially on a vegan site.

Upon further review

The food I got was fine. It sounded better on the menu than what I got, but there was nothing wrong with my dish. My wife enjoyed her burrito.

When this first opened, I loved the staff, the attitude and such. I feel like a lot has changed since then. I also think they made more of an effort to isolate the meat from veg sections of the kitchen. However, they ought to make more of a concerted effort. I have heard locally that there have been cross-contamination. For burritos, they are surrounded by brilliant authentic cafes, both in the strip mall, and around the corner is my all time fave Latino restaurant Taco Loco, which is way better.

I still enjoy the atmosphere. The drinks are excellent. But the food is just alright, nothing special. In a town where burritos or rice bowls are abundant, it seems they should try to really focus on the food quality.

I would possibly try it again, but not w the highest of expectations. But they seem like good people, folks you'd want to root for.

Pros: drinks, ambience , family friendly

Cons: meat, potential cross contamination, just alright

Don't Bother with this place

Not only is the food NOT VEGAN, but they are participating in kicking out Holy Cow from the EMU. Holy Cow IS VEGAN. If you really support the vegan lifestyle, you should not support this imposter. They only buy local when convenient. The service is okay, but I will never go back. They won't even let you buy a kid's burrito unless you can show them the kid! The people that run this place must just be out for money as they do not consider their customers.

Cons: not vegan, uncooperative, not locallly owned

First you are so wrong about HC being vegan. They have plenty of dairy. That is a wrong idea to put into people's minds since they were out at a festival and sold strictly non-vegan soup, and were not even nice to my wife when asked.

Second, you should talk about your LP experience, leave all the other stuff aside. Months later HC is still in EMU and you rail against this biz for nothing after all.
