Amazing amazing - Edit
Highly recommend lotus plant based, the dim sum and mock duck is just out of this world. Everyone should go! Eat in and takeaway too! Reasonably priced and so so good. They don’t use onion or garlic so the salt and pepper isn’t as flavoursome as it could be but this is for religious reasons I think. My boyfriend said the ‘beef’ is the best fake meat he’s ever eaten and he eats meat! ❤️❤️ #Veganuary

The best vegan Chinese! - Edit
10/10 vegan Chinese 🖤 Stopped by lotus prior to attending a gig in Manchester with my partner and we were so impressed by this wee place. We tried the sesame prawn toast, char siu bao buns, crispy Szechuan beef and the Cantonese style beef. Everything was so delicious and we were hard pressed to believe that we hadn’t been served non-vegan dishes with how authentic everything tasted! Service was incredible and we will have to come again as the menu was huge and there’s so much we wanted to try!

In Withington - right by the bus stops for the Christie Hospital and a 10-15 minutes walk from the tram stop.
Read moreWe have now visited Lotus three times and have never been disappointed. The food is piping hot and the presentation is beautiful, and the portions generous. We ordered 7 dishes between the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids)`; a mix of mains and sides which was just the right amount. Every dish was tasty - we ate everything! Will definitely eat here again when we are visiting Manchester - it's now one of our must-do places. Highly recommended.
Pros: Delicious food, Generous portions, Lovely staff
Cons: Toilets are upstairs (if that is an issue for you)

Amazing, all the food was delicious and well presented. - Edit
Brilliant plant based oriental restaurant and take away. A must in South Manchester. I came here, after a 30 min ride in the rain and it was well worth getting a bit wet for.
Read moreI ate in and the staff were so friendly and welcoming and helped me choose. The food was absolutely amazing, beautifully presented and so delicious. A huge choice of food and all vegan. I was too full to try dessert, which I would have liked to try. I shall be back. I would have gone back later in the week, but they were closed for the summer holidays the next day, I was glad that I got there before it closed as I was only in Manchester for a week.

Worthy of the high reviews - Edit
A really varied menu without being multiple pages long. I liked that they offered dim sum alongside the classic stir-frys and noodle dishes. The food tasted really good (although on the oily side) and the service is very friendly. Went twice and ordered enough for lunch the next day!

They have Cha Siu Bao! - Edit
Crispy Sezhuan "beef" tasted really good, loved the textures.
Read moreHouse dumplings came in 6 and there's 3 types of dumplings which you get two of each (distinguished by colour). I really liked, the pink ones, then the green, then the white! Best of all, the ginger vinegar dipping sauce it came with tasted legit.
Crispy "duck" noodles was not as crispy as one hoped as there was a lot of sauce, however, I still loved it, the mushrooms, the noodles, the sauce. Fab.
Laksa skewers came in 4 and was interesting, the curry sauce it came with tasted like Chinese takeaway curry in the best possible way, very yummy.
Cha siu bao came in 3 and was impressive, they got the colours right, the insides tasted quite accurate!
Siu mai came in 4 and was on the mushier side, it was ok.
Bbq udon was also alright.
Turnip cake came in 8! They are fried, a bit oily, but tasty. The toppings stole the show though with the cutest little mushrooms I have ever seen.
Radish puff came in 4, and was more sweet than savoury, they tasted of coconut, and had a lovely texture to them.

Phenomenal Chinese food! - Edit
These people are wizards. I have no idea how they recreate the taste and texture of popular Chinese dishes but they smash it out of the park. They already have a lot of gluten free options for my partner but went above and beyond adapting a dish to be gluten free too. Lovely staff and brilliant food. You might have to wait a little while at busier times but it is well worth it.

Wonderful meal! - Edit
We just had an excellent meal at Lotus . It’s important to book in advance because it’s a small restaurant but very much worth it.
Read moreThe Duck & pancakes are one of the highlight of the menu and each dish has its own unique taste.
The Tom Yum was one of the most orignal things I have ever tasted, including filled dumplings and really unusual mushrooms.
The sweet and sour “chikn” tastes just like chicken and it’s hard to believe that everything is plant based.
We will definitely be returning ! #Veganuary

Incredible, delicious food! - Edit
We've waited a long time to try the Manchester sister restaurant to Veggie World in Milton Keynes. The mnue offers a huge amount of incredible food - and not all the usual various mock meats with chowmein either.
Read moreWe had the Melty Cheeze Balls as a starter - amazing presentation and taste.
Followed by Pi Pa Tofu (GFO) - the tofu was so so light, practically Mousse-like, fried in a delicious batter coating, with a salty sweet sauce, and a side of authentic chowmein noodles. The second main was a beef strip chowmein (crispy noodle) which took us back to prevegan days.
110% recommend a visit, the service was second to none too.

A True Delight - Edit
After finding this restaurant on happy cow we visited on our way to the cinema in central Manchester, parking was easy (free for 2 hours) and we were greeted straight away by a member of staff who was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, we were spoilt for choice even with my husbands nut allergy we had so much to choose from, we decided a ribs, Cantonese style vegan beef , satay strips and fried rice, the ribs and beef were extremely similar which our server did inform us but we ordered anyway, the Cantonese dish was simply amazing, the Seitan very tasty and the sauce perfect! Couldn’t fault the rice or the satay sticks the sauce was a bit sweet for me but that’s just personal taste. We also had Chinese crackers which were a great addition to the meal. We had plenty left and asked for a takeaway box so we could take home, we then couldn’t resist trying the deep fried ice cream (chocolate) something we’ve never seen on a menu or tried before, it exceeded expectations. It was light and delicious and we would definitely order again! The bill came to £45 which for two people and the amount of food we had was very reasonable, will definitely be returning to try the other dishes just wished we lived closer 💚
