My fave vegan restaurant in London

This is the best vegan place in London, hands down!!!!
Obsessed with their mushroom dishes and drinks (the Lions mane hot chocolate is amazing) ☺️
Also you definitely have to try the Oyster mushroom wings. They are just too good!
Also, they have board games so it’s fun to play them while waiting for the food ☺️
One million stars/10

Pros: Amazing food, Amazing drinks , Really cool atmosphere

Fun and tasty!

Love Shack is a cool venue with an eclectic, hippy vibe. It has a cosy feel with atmospheric lighting and lots of interesting decorations.

They have an extensive drink menu as it also doubles as a cocktail bar and even has a secret club. The food menu is also interesting with a variety of dishes structured more in a sharing style, which suits us as we love trying lots of different dishes.

From the smaller plates menu we ordered the Crispy Oyster Mushroom Wings (Buffalo), Pani Puri, Papas Arrugadas (Canarian Potatoes) and Tofu Karaage.

The crispy oyster mushroom wings were a nice big portion with a lovely crispy coating and a nice bit of spicey flavour which contrasted well with the ranch dressing. The Canarian potatoes were lovely and soft with delicious rich sauces. The tofu karaage was again really good with a lovely rich sauce and The tofu had a great crispy coating. The pani puri wasn't such a hit with us as it was a cold dish and just wasn't as tasty as the others, but that may just be personal preference.

We also ordered the 8oz Lion's Mane Steak, Roast Vegtables & Chimichurri from the big plates menu. This was very tasty and had lots of fresh veggies but was pricey for what it was at £26 excluding service charge.

At the end of all this food me and my wife were both very stuffed but it was tasty fresh food and it was a satisfied feeling. I really enjoyed the variety and would recommend Love Shack, although I would say it is pricey for what it is.

Our friend who is not vegan also enjoyed his food!

Love Shack

The food is absolutely lovely and beautifully presented. The staff are incredibly friendly. The atmosphere is a bit more casual, but it’s cute and quirky. Our options were very limited because they only offered a brunch menu, but I can highly recommend the eggs benedict from the brunch menu. The French toast was good, but it wasn’t very filling. We would definitely try to eat here again, but would love to try the non-brunch options.

Delicious!!!

I went for brunch my friend and I split the "full english" and "eggs benedict" options (both vegan obviously!) The food was delicious and had lots of different components and flavours. Im already looking forward to my next visit there.

Great food but sometimes the service can be slow

I hate to give a fully plant based spot less than a perfect review, but I’ve often had to wait around a while to order & get the bill here. However food and drink is inventive and delicious and by itself would’ve deserved 5*

Romantic evening meal for two

Quirky but cool decor, secret room to discover, tasty menu options - many featuring mushrooms. Advance booking recommended (certainly for Sat night).
Sat nav incorrectly directed us towards Bethnal Green station - it’s actually nearer to Cambridge Heath station - so for us it wasn’t the easiest place to find.

Nearly wept with joy!

Staff? Delightful. Food? Perfection. Cocktails? Unreal. Decor? Inspired. Vibes? Immaculate (even on a rainy Sunday in January).

It was my first time here and won't be the last - I'm from Leeds but will make it a priority to swing by anytime I'm South of the Watford Gap!

The cool mushroom lore and hidden back room are particular highlights...

Thanks for being ace X

One of our London favorites

Visited in september 2025. We had dinner in Love shack and it was a really memorable and fun experience! The food was so tasty, the environment and interior was interesting and full of fun details, and the staff was super friendly. Their vegan pavlova was one of the highlights of our whole interrail trip! We also loved the chimichurri mushroom skewers and the caesar salad. Would love to visit again!!

Pros: Tasty food, Super friendly staff, Fun atmosphere

Needs cleaning!

This venue needs a good spring clean and refurbishment of the furniture. The Chinese lanterns are thick with dust, the windows are smeared, my chair seat was split. If they cleaned the stains off the lavatory (see photo) perhaps they wouldn’t have to mask the smell with so much incense.

This lack of attention to detail ran to other things: displayed outside is a curry-based lunch deal that they no longer offer, and details of events in November (it’s the end of January). The November poster was also displayed on the lavatory door.

No point going on a weekday lunchtime if you want to experience the breadth of their menu as are only three options: soup of the week, sandwich of the week (banh mi this week) or Thai green curry.

I don’t like business making assumptions about their customers’ politics, but think it’s likely most customers in a vegan restaurant care about animal welfare, so will think favourably of the recently launched Animal Welfare Strategy and appreciate that it is significant because it moves animal protection from isolated pledges to a coherent, long-term framework that embeds higher welfare standards into everyday policy and decision-making, so having a poster of Keir Starmer with devil horns and tail seemed misplaced, and likely to offend more customers than it encouraged.

The waitress gave the impression she didn’t really want to be there, but perhaps was just having a bad day.

I travelled for almost two hours each way to try this restaurant on the strength of reviews on this platform so was very disappointed and won’t be back.

Pros: It’s a vegan venue.

Cons: The venue is tired and dirty., Stained toilets are inexcusable., Lunchtime menu too limited.

Amazing vegan atmosphere

This place is so quirky and homely. Came here for brunch, the lobster roll was nice but not really to my taste - maybe I chose incorrectly! Want to come back here to try some of the vegan cocktails and dinner menu.

Many mushrooms

We got there just 15 minutes before six on a Friday. They told us, that the kitchen would only be open from 6pm. No problem for us. But also that the inside and outdoor tables were all booked from 7pm; but okay l, we can eat quick.

Eventually we got our food; chicken like mushroom burger; very tall and hard to eat. mushroom was fried like a nugget; but not very flavorful.
Also had the Caesar salad, which was very good and big.

We were just done with our food, when the waiter kept reminding us, that we had to leave in like ten minutes. Felt a little pushy as we were literally about to be done.

Disappointing

Booked here after reading all the rave reviews on here & wanted to love it but…I just didn’t. The menu was uninspired - we came in the evening & the only big plates available were a choice of 2 types of burger or a chick’n caesar salad although the menu outside had risotto & gnocchi as options.
Not wanting a burger I went for 3 of the small dishes. Portions were good but the food was mediocre. The miso aubergine was pretty tasteless, the tofu dish was ok but the sauce was cloying & definitely not worth £12. The Caesar salad was probably the best part of the meal but nothing outstanding.
My husband had the Beyond Meat burger & chips which, again were ok, but £18 for a supermarket burger & chips is steep even by London standards. In total our bill came to over £70 for 1 big plate, 3 small plates & 2 beers for essentially student canteen standard food.
The final nail in the coffin was being sat at the table literally next to the toilet despite having pre-booked & the restaurant being half-empty.
Really sorry as I hate being critical of vegan restaurants but I really didn’t feel the love. Maybe they were just having a bad day? The staff though were completely lovely

Pros: Staff were lovely , Frier only used for GF items so coeliac safe

Cons: Uninspired menu, Very pricy

Delicious pancakes, but service could be smooth

I visited Love Shack and had the pancakes — they were delicious! You get three thick ones with lots of topping, definitely worth the money. We went when it was really busy and towards the end of food service, so unfortunately we could only order pancakes or French toast (which wasn’t explained when we first sat down). We also had quite a long wait to be seated and for our order to be taken.

That said, the vibe of the place is really nice, the food itself was great, and the staff were friendly — the service could have been a little better, but overall it was still a good experience.
