Waited..... - Edit
Thrilled that Makan Vegan is back after their Geylang branch closure! I visited today and tried their salted black bean 'fish' – it was delicious, with a great balance of flavors. I’m happy to see that their prices are still reasonable too. Looking forward to returning and trying more of their dishes!

Affordable and so good! - Edit
So nice to be able to experience a hawker’s market with lots of options! My laksa was so delicious and affordable. I went to the next stall and also got tea & dim sum which was also so good! Definitely recommend coming here😄

Decent dishes - Edit
The laksa was great, the other two dishes get a pass. Wish I could have tried more, but I had no more room in the tank. Overall, it was very decent!

Completely caught by surprise - Edit
I was totally unaware that this is the place as it looks like a non vegan eatery hawker! When I looked closely I realized I came to the right place with lots of hawker choices made vegan! Such as the duck rice, wan tan mee, nasi lemak, fish bee hoon, mala etc. All their drinks are vegan too! I ordered the green milk tea (oat)

Good food and prices - Edit
Geylang, once known for its red-light district, is now a cool spot for durian lovers. It’s just a short walk from the MRT, and in the early evening, the restaurant feels pleasantly warm and inviting with its open-air setup.
Read moreMakan Vegan has a pretty good menu, though some of the kids’ and western options we saw online weren’t available. The staff were super friendly and helped us pick some great dishes. We went with the lor mee, dry wonton noodles, and laksa, plus a spring roll and some fried yuba. The laksa was a bit spicy but still nice.
Overall, everyone was happy with the food. If you’re in Geylang and have some time, I Makan Vegan is a chill spot worth checking out.

Vegan Food - Edit
The staff is friendly and helpful when it comes to choosing a dish. I tried the wanton fried noodles, which were served dry with a side of soup. The wantons were in the soup, and they accommodated my request to make it spicy. Additionally, the curry puff was delicious and not greasy. The prices are affordable.

Inexpensive and delicious - Edit
This place is a gem. Made the 10 min walk from the mtr station and was kind of bummed to see it was an open air restaurant as I was hot. That didn’t stop me from eating, of course. Ordered the dry wonton noodles, which were great. Also ordered their shu mai and lotus leaf rice. Both were good as well. I wish this place was closer to my accommodation so I could try more menu items.

Best spot in Singapore - Edit
Went here multiple times. Best vegan food in Singapore and really cheap. Tried multiple dishes. Favourites were the won ton noodles, bao buns and Chinese dumplings. The fruit tea is also great!

Local Vegan Delights - Edit
When I was overwhelmed by the choices available, a very friendly staff member greeted me and shared their best sellers with me. It helped because we ended up ordering all the best sellers. Everything was good but our favorites were Wanton noodles and laksa, so delicious! I heard that their Mala Xiang Guo is a must-try too, so I took some back to try with my hubby. Really shiok!🔥

If they use fish and duck, how is it vegan? Or is it mock meat?

Vegan & Allium-Free Coffeeshop - Edit
Relatively tasty and reasonably priced local food~ While the dishes may not necessarily be the nicest / cheapest / most nutritionally balanced around (given that there are many Chinese vegetarian eateries in Singapore), what I appreciate is their sincerity and courage in creating such a niche coffeeshop. This is the first (and to date, the only) fully vegan and allium-free coffeeshop in Singapore, allowing us to enjoy local delights guilt-free and with a peace of mind - no need to second-guess whether there is hidden egg and dairy! In addition, part of their proceeds go to support “The Makan Initiative” providing free meals for the elderly and needy. My all-time favourite is the vegan fish bee hoon with oat milk infused into the soup, which is not commonly available in other local eateries. Taking customers' feedback into consideration, the menu has expanded to include some dishes without mock meat too, such as braised vinegar trotter rice featuring assorted beancurd, mushrooms, and black fungus.
Read moreDo also check out the nearby Makan Vegan Bak Kwa / Vegan Heart retail shop! Selling housemade sauces, as well as handmade OmniFoods minced meat coin bak kwa (one of the best vegan bak kwa I have ever eaten, now with an improved recipe to ensure it is softer and also repackaged more prettily). With CNY just around the corner, the Bak Kwa is worth a try - free sampling available. Both the coffeeshop and retail shop are located between Aljunied MRT and Paya Lebar MRT.

Normal is its key that makes their food nostalgic and comforting. - Edit
Makan Vegan is what a vegan restaurant should be. The overall approach to the restaurant is like a normal hawker that Singaporeans and tourists are familiar with. I like how the food is priced. No fancy presentation, and it is what makes it sooooo comforting and nostlgic.

Vegan hawker centre - Edit
It’s a bit of a trek to get here and it was good but not great although I’m glad it exists. I enjoyed the mock chicken and rice dish more than the laksa which my partner ordered and liked. The drinks were good. Some of the staff were a bit unfriendly. It’s not entirely clear but they’re all separate stalls with separate payments required despite all being under the same brand. There’s a little shop around the corner attached to this too and they were giving out free samples when we were there

Fully vegan hawker Centre. It’s small but there are plenty of options and everything is very cheap. Just worth noting that Mala (a type of pepper) makes your mouth go numb but other than that the food is good!

Satisfy cravings - Edit
The taste is so good, reminds me of what I've eaten prior to becoming a vegetarian. I've yet to try it all. The wanton noodle is excellent, noodle taste and texture is really good and wanton is smooth unlike other vegetarian ones. Portion is just nice, not too little, and I'm going to come back for more again. They also sell bottle herbal drinks from my favourite brand. The place is airy with lots of fans. Doesn't smell when frying as they have a good system.

Makan Vegan, Geylang, Singapore - Edit
I've eaten here 2 or 3 times. Normal sort of cheap and cheerful food. I like their soup. Food here won't win healthiness awards (mock meat, fried), but this place is still a useful pit stop.
