Lovely little place - Edit
Delicious ramen and other vegan choices.
Read moreThe place is run by a sweet lady and seats 12 people at most, cash only. We were the first two people for the evening, followed soon by a group of four. The next person after that was turned away, I’m assuming because the kitchen was at capacity. Once the first meals were served, she let a couple more people in.
Everything we ate was delicious!
Pros: Tasty food, Good portion sizes, Cozy atmosphere

Affordable and relatively wide selection of vegan food close to Omicho Market - Edit
It's a cozy space run by a single woman, she has a decent selection of vegan food, and it was quite tasty! Perhaps the portions were a bit small for my taste, but they were nevertheless flavourful. The service was also rather fast, which was quite surprising given that she had to take the orders and cook them all by herself. I suppose we were lucky to go there when it was pretty much empty.

Vegan and Veg Friendly - Edit
Location : an easy walk north of the Castle Park on a busy main street.
Read moreThere’s an English menu with several options : spicy eggplant, mixed vegetable stir fry, cabbage and seaweed salad. We ordered the soy milk ramen with glass noodles (mild) and the Mapu tofu with rice, hot and peppery with a generous amount of silken tofu. Returned for lunch and had eggplant with chili, rice and a side salad (spicy) and tofu with Chinese vegetables and rice(mild). The owner was friendly and service was excellent.
A good spot for lunch or dinner with many beverage choices.

Full of flavor! Ask for the separate vegetarian menu. This was the best experience in Kanazawa so far.

Excellent vegan ramen and more - Edit
Near the castle park and garden, this Chinese restaurant has several items on its menu that can be made vegan. The soymilk ramen is highly rommended, especially with some toppings added (I'm a fan of the takana mustard greens, which are pickled add another dimension to the ramen once you're halfway through.) Even without extra toppings, the ramen dish is full of mushrooms, chives, and other yumminess.

Get the soy milk ramen - Edit
Probably the best ramen broth I’ve ever had. Swap in the glass noodles to make it vegan. The stuffed peppers appetizer was also excellent.

Delicious vegetarian options - Edit
While walking around the area we needed to find a place to stop for lunch and this was a great find!
Read moreOptions for everyone so it’s helpful if your dining companions are not vegetarian or vegan. I had a note that I carried with me written in Japanese that indicated I was vegetarian and didn’t eat meat. Once I showed this to the server/chef she brought me a special menu with the vegetarian and vegan options.
Food was absolutely delicious! Ate every last bite. I would go back and highly recommend.
Pros: Yummy food, Nice variety, Attentive service

Delicious food & drinks - Edit
Had a lovely time at Maruchou-K last evening, the owner was super lovely and all we ordered was delicious and filling. We had to wait for maybe 10 minutes to be seated as the owner was working alone but we were happy to do so. If there’s a sign on the door that says CLOSED, all in red, don’t immediately panic like we did, it will just be a few minutes for her to bus some tables and it’s worth the wait.
Read moreI had the soy milk ramen (with subbed glass noodles to make it vegan) which had a nice mild heat and was very flavourful, with a generous heap of various chopped and fried mushrooms on top. My husband had the aubergines in chilli sauce with medium rice and was very happy with it as well. We also shared the fries seasoned with seaweed and concluded that seaweed literally goes with everything.
Would definitely recommend the Chinese apricot wine (tastes like an umeshu liqueur neat with an apricot twist) and the fragrant olive wine which I had mixed with soda, really fabulous. Will probably come back again as vegan options are a little more limited in Kanazawa.
Edit: we went back the following night and found a different closed sign (out of ingredients) but I cheekily poked my head in and asked if vegetarian might still be ok and she seated us anyway! There was only a small serving of rice left and the mushroom heap wasn’t quite as generous but she fed two hungry vegans delicious food and I was very thankful.

Lovely home cooked Chinese cuisine made to a Japanese flavour palette. Explicitly vegan friendly if you ask for the vegan menu, and the owner took a second to check when my vegetarian husband ordered something nonvegan.

Chinese cuisine, really nice - Edit
Came to this restaurant following some of the pics and reviews by other vegan fellows in the app. We didn’t realise they serve Chinese cuisine and not Japanese, but the food was of course amazing. Vegetarian / vegan menu on request. Customers must purchase at least x2 items to be able to dine in (ie: a fizzy drink and a dish). Ask for the extra chilli oil if you are a spicy food lover. Amazing!

Great soy milk ramen and more! - Edit
HappyCow doesn’t allow five stars vor non-vegetarian places but this restaurant deserves them. Cosy little place with a great vegetarian/vegan menu. We had the aubergine and the soy milk ramen (vegan option with glass noodles). Both were really good and the ramen can definitely compete with the ones we had in Kyoto or Tokyo. Glad we found this!
