Deserves 5 MILLION stars.

This will probably be too lengthy when all I want to say this is the BEST VEGAN PIZZA I’VE EVER HAD and you should GO. Okay for those that want more details here is my review:

I had to run to Lowe’s to get stuff, then randomly saw the humble little banner of a location called “Mattengas” in the nearby shopping center.

I had only heard of the tasty vegan pizza they offer and decided my partner and I should try them for dinner.

We didn’t know what to expect, and according to the internet their location at Callaghan was very new. Their social media referenced a soft opening phase they were in at the time of this writing.

To our delight we were able to order online: select the size, select vegan cheese, vegan pepperoni and jalapeño and onions as our choice toppings. We wanted to try their red sauce, their pepperoni and vegan cheese mostly. Back in my omnivore days I LOVED pepperoni pizza with jalapeño and onions. It was my go to. I was known as “that guy who likes pepperoni, onions and jalapeño pizza”. Okay, maybe I wasn’t—but I kind of want to be that guy known for their pizza topping choice.


We did call to make sure, we even asked about any sides like their garlic bread and to our dismay they were knowledgeable enough to know that their sides were not vegan. We’d basically be stuck with just pizza.

When we go pick up our order, it was all timely and done when the website said it would be done. That was a major plus. The person at the counter only offered us red pepper knowing that we wouldn’t be into the Parmesan (because vegan). There was a spacious dining area if you’re into that. We’re more of a Netflix and pizza at home kind of couple, my partner and I.

When we see the pizza it looks JUST like regular pizza. We see the cheese has a nice pull close to dairy cheese, and the pepperoni does have a marbley sort of look to it. We doubted it was vegan, but it was just our own limitations breaking by the majesty of Mattengas delicious vegan pizza. It tasted just like the pizza I grew up eating.

We now are regulars at Mattengas, we’ve also followed up with trying their sausage they offer for vegans too. I tell everyone about their pizza. EVERYONE. I can’t wait to want to eat more pizza. I hope this review not only encourages you to go there yourself, but I hope they become successful enough to see that vegans love their great product and they expand on what they offer to us.

Pros: Delicious pizza, the best. , Quality ingredients , Fast and friendly service.

Cons: Needs more vegan options outside of pizza.

This must be super new because it won’t even pop up on google maps! is it next to sprouts?

It’s across the sprouts actually. Next to the Lowe’s, specifically next to the Starbucks in that shopping center.
