hell no - Edit
was starving after my run and wanted to check this place out but was blown away by the lack of vegan options.
Read morethe veggie burger and impossible burger ($22!) were both labeled vegetarian and when i asked the waiter why they were veg but not vegan, he told me to “google it”.
so i bought $8 french fries and it felt like 1996 all over again.
Pros: parking
Cons: the rest of it

Good vegan options - Edit
We had the kale salad and the burrito which were tasty. We waited pretty long for someone to come to our table and it was a bit expensive too. The diner feeling is great.

For that All-American Diner feel - Edit
My husband (an omni) was desperate to go to a classic American diner while we were on holiday in SF and I wasn't too optimistic about finding one with vegan options but up Steps Mel's Drive In. There aren't a huge range of options for main meals - a kale and quinoa salad or a vegan chilli - but plenty of their sides are vegan and they also have vegan milkshakes. These is also an impossible burger on the menu which isn't listed as vegan but maybe capable of veganising with some tweaking if you ask. I went for a bowl of the vegan chilli which was really flavourful and a mix of beans and vegan mince, a side of sweet potato fries which was huge and the Lana del Rey vegan shake which was delicious. The service was nice and the decor very cool. I'd recommend for anyone looking for that diner feel like you see in the movies!

Vegan options on menu - Edit
I had the vegan chili with vegan cheese, quinoa and kale salad with lemon vingerate dressing and of course delicious hash browns.

Mel’s - Edit
Mel’s is a classic establishment in San Francisco. My partner absolutely loves to get diner breakfast from here. I know this sounds basic, but I absolutely love their hashbrowns. Sometimes I order 2 to 3 servings of them and just eat them for my meal!

All American authentic diner - Edit
If you want to step back in time to an authentic American diner this is the place. Booth seats, bar seats, table seats. Memorabilia and merch everywhere. We went here twice, both times were great service and good food for the style. I lashed out and tried their vegan thick shake this time, pretty good I must say!
