Mildreds, established since 1988 and reported vegan in May 2021, operates several restaurants in London. Its changing menu offers British classics as well fusion meals, with example dishes like mushroom pie, Indian curry, lentil burger, tortilla chips and gucamole, burger with fries, waffles, vegan brownie with ice cream. This branch is small and gets crowded at rush hour so expect a wait. Cashless. Open Mon-Sat 09:00-23:00, Sun 09:00-22:00.

Unlucky we visited when they had a gas issue

What we ate was nice but we arrived having booked a table of 2 and were told they had a gas issue so many menu items were unavailable. These things happen so we sat and ordered 2 different types of pancakes.

They forgot 1 of the pancakes so we had to wait a while for them to come out. I also had to ask twice for sugar for the coffee.

I wish they did soya milk because I'm not a big fan of oat or almond.

Overall food we ate was good but service was a little lacking on the day we visited

Too noisy for me

The food was good but a little too salty for my taste. Long wait and very noisy. Good for young people, in the heart of London. If you are older and/or want an evening out where you catch up with friends, go to Mallow at Borough Market (same company but much more relaxed).

Cons: Too noisy, too salty

Great food

Mildreds have a great variety of dishes on the menu, and I always enjoy the food, but I find the Soho branch a bit noisy as tables are so close together

Nice food and modern environment

The food is really nice and the meals are very reasonably priced, especially for a London restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly and the chocolate cake that they serve is superb. I’ll definitely be coming back here again 😀

Delectable.

The food was mouthwatering and delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. I would say that next time, may the food be a bit cheaper.

Lovely

Went here for a small lunch, the small plates really are small but it was amazing. I had the whipped feta with buttersquash and I loved every bite of it !

AMAZING

Very friendly staff and really delicious food. Simple but sophisticated vegan cuisine. We tried hummus, artichoke (really good) and two "meat" dishes.

Always a great meal here

Been visiting Mildred’s for 15 years. While there are so many new vegan restaurants in London over the last few years, this one continues to produce creative dishes that taste delicious. It is clear why they are doing well and keep expanding. This last visit, we tried a selection of starters (loaded nachos, aloo bonda, and Sichuan cabbage), a main (chicken skewers), and some excellent tiramisu!

Seating downstairs can feel a bit cramped but excited to see they have some additional seating now on the levels above.

Back on form

I was glad to see Mildred’s Soho is back on form as I felt it had dipped a bit in latter years. It’s still insanely crowded and busy, but they can now send you a traceable booking so you know when your table is going to be ready and the food is back to being delicious.

Amazing!

The place is cute, staff were excellent and the food was so tasty. I had the hoi sin duk bun, which came with salt and pepper fries. The burger was delicious, the flavours worked really well and it had a bit of spice and the fries were great and needed no condiments. If you're in the area, definitely pop in!

Tasty lunch

I had the “chicken” skewers and orzo dish. Really loved the mock chicken! I would’ve liked to have a little more of the orzo on the plate, it was a little bit hidden under the skewers. Overall a really nice experience though!

Inventive, delicious vegan food

Fresh and delicious; we ate here for dinner. Mildred's is making vegetables the star without need for a ton of 'substitutes'. I ate the artichoke Caesar salad and my partner had the kimchi fried rice. We started with the whipped 'feta', and finished with the passionfruit cheesecake. All very enjoyable.

Amazing food and service

I think this is my new favourite restaurant in London! I came here on my birthday and had such a lovely experience:) the staff were so kind and very attentive and the food was some of the best I’ve tried in london, i neeeeed to go back. They also gave me a free slice of cake and sung happy birthday for me (was a bit embarrassed but it was still so so sweet of them) overall had an amazing experience!!!!

Excellent vegan restaurant

It's a nice location, with lovely staff and great vegan food. I had an overall great experience.

I however looked to Happycow pictures to understand what was what, some images on the menu would have been great.

Disappointing first visit

Went with the intention of having brunch, but I arrived just after 11 o'clock and missed the brunch menu. Despite my preference for a light first meal, I decided to dine in as I was already there. Opting for the kiri hodi, I found it excessively spicy without much flavor beyond the heat. Disappointingly, I couldn't enjoy the dish and blamed myself for the choice, ended up not eating any of it. After a short stay drinking my tea, I considered leaving to find an alternative. When I asked to remove the optional service fee due to not consuming the meal, the waitstaff appeared bothered. The dish was already on the pricey side for something I didn't eat. Unfortunately, I overheard them discussing my situation as I headed to the bathroom, which left a rude impression. Also the atmosphere was marred by overcrowding and closely spaced tables, which makes the experience less enjoyable.

Really Impressive, if Expensive

I made a reservation about 45 minutes early, and good thing since it was packed (I did have to wait 10 minutes regardless)! Tons of people waiting by 8pm. The restaurant has a super funny setup, it’s like a maze with all the staircases and dining rooms. The serving staff was super nice, offering suggestions and being quite helpful.

My main and cocktail came out together about 10-15 minutes after ordering. The lychee rose martini was delicious, quite sweet but I didn’t mind. My (insert Korean dish here) of tofu and fried kimchi fice was great! The tofu especially, I was deeply impressed with the flavor and crispy texture. The kimchi rice, although not super flavorful, was spicy and had a nice variety of veggies.

Overall a great experience! The cocktail was priced pretty typically, but the main dish did feel a little small for the price. I will try to return before I leave London!

Joyous

Service was amazing, and the host placed us upstairs by the open window on a hot evening. Food was delicious - how do they make the whipped feta?! So glad I ordered the paratha to scoop up my feta from the plate. I could just set up a sleeping bag in the kitchen and live here.

best meal of my trip

Go for breakfast/brunch! The “classic brunch” dish was delicious, as were the blueberry pancakes, and peach/raspberry mimosa. The classic brunch has all the items of a traditional English breakfast.

The Soho location is very cute and the staff was friendly. The bottoms of the benches have outlets, which is nice if you’re a traveler using your phone for everything.

I do recommend making a reservation as they get quite busy, and may not be able to accommodate walk-in.

This was hands down the best meal of my trip to London!

Best meal in London
