I wish I lived closer - Edit
Everything about this place is great. From the cute and quirky aesthetic to the donuts and bagels, to the coffee. It's probably a good thing I live a little way away, or I'd be in here everyday!

Amazing food and vibe - Edit
Amazing food and vibe will definitely be back!! Lots of options even past 1pm they had lots available so defs go here
Read moreKeep in mind that the pastries are quite big (absolutely justifies the price), I made the mistake of getting a sausage roll in addition to a chocolate babka and trying to finish both was… a struggle. They were absolutely delicious, but it’s probably a good idea to eat the hot food in, and takeaway the pastries!

Good bakery, quite like the vegemite cheese scrolls and the spinach cheese scrolls. The shepherds pie is good, as well as the donuts.

Amazing sweet treats and savoury items - Edit
Inside seating is back!
Read moreI have been coming here since it opened and I’ve ordered cakes here as well, I enjoy their savoury options too. There are few tables in there now so I get takeaway
The first time I took a mini hazelnut cupcake and a cherry chocolate turnover. Both were tasty! It was their opening day and when a couple heard me talking to someone about how everything was vegan, the couple walked off saying "they weren't waiting for vegan food!" I suppose this is why there isn't a big sign saying they are vegan.
The second time I shared a few mini cupcakes and a strawberry shortcake which was amazing! I could have eaten them all. My Other friend who drinks a lot of dairy hot chocolates had a hot chocolate made with hazelnut milk and said it was the best hot chocolate she'd ever had.
Highly recommended!

- Hot dog pretzel: enjoyable, they used to use a different hotdog that was better tasting

Delicious! - Edit
This was our first time here as we are from the GC and I’ve wanted to try it for a while now. It did not disappoint! We got the pretzel dog (what a fantastic idea!), the cinnamon scroll, feta and spinach triangle, Shepard’s pie and unicorn milkshake. What a treat! Everything was delicious and this would definitely be our local if we lived here. Can’t wait to go back!

Brilliant! - Edit
Yesterday was my first visit to this bakery and it won't be my last. Everything looked amazing and of the 10 things I purchased I would get 8 of them again without question. The staff were lovely as well. Unfortunately they had no cheesecakes available but there was still so much to choose from and I didn't even get to the cupcakes. Something for next time!
Read more10/10 Spinach pastry warmed in the oven. Amazing flavour and flakey pastry.
10/10 Spinach and cheese scroll warmed in the oven. Moist and tasty, creamy layers in bread.
10/10 Bubka. Great choice if you want somethings not too sweet.
10/10 Glazed doughnut. Unbelievably fresh and moist. Sweet but not sickly.
9/10 Peanut butter brownie. As salty as it could possibly be without being too salty. Pleasantly salty, gooey and crunchy.
9/10 Pink doughnut with sprinkles. Not quite as fresh as the glazed but still delicious!
10/10 Cinnamon scroll. Fresh, sweet, sticky, delicious and a generous portion.
9.5/10 Portuguese tart. My non-vegan husbands favourite of the lot! I loved the pastry.
Not too sweet
7/10 pretzel dog. This was kind of nice but I found the bread a little too sweet and it had a strange artificial taste in the hot dog.
6.5/10 sausage roll. The pastry was lovely but the filling was really soft and had the same artificial taste as the pretzel dog.

Amazing Bakery - Edit
One of my favorite places we visited in the Melbourne area! Fantastic food - huge portions at reasonable prices!!
Read moreIt took us quite a while to pick out what we wanted, as everything looked so good, but we got the sausage roll, shephard's pie, pretzel dog, chocolate babka with a long black and a cappuccino to begin with. Then we got a passionfruit lemon pop cupcake, an apple caramel bun, and a peanut butter brownie to go, but we ended up eating the cupcake in the store, as we didn't want to have frosting all over the place in the takeout box. Everything was really!!

tried their sausage roll, a little bit too much sausage for the pastry ratio for my liking. and the cinnamon scroll was far too sweet for me, but very flavorful!

Fantastic Bakery!! My favorite in Australia So Far! - Edit
First and foremost this bakery is fully vegan (Thank goodness lol). Their donuts are legendary, the best donut I’ve had in both America and Australia. It’s above average in size but excellent blend of taste and texture. The shepherd pie was descent, along with the pretzel hotdog as well. However, the steal of the show was their donuts.

The food was fantastic. Had two donuts, the cinnamon roll, Shepard pie, a sausage roll and a pretzel dog. All we’re good but the homer donut was perfect. It tasted as good as it looked. The pretzel dog was really good too. Highly recommend this place. For everything we got it was like $40 bucks. Great price.

Consistently good - Edit
Every time I try something at mister nice guys it's delicious. Towards the end of the day they sell out of a lot of things so make sure to go early if you want to try something specific. Staff were really friendly also. My only complaint was that the milkshake could have been a bit colder as it was Luke warm but I wasn't too fussed. Would definitely try the cupcakes next time!

Changes not for the better - Edit
I have been coming to Mr Nice Guys for around 10 years. It was the (very) regular and much anticipated Saturday morning breakfast place for me and my dear friend, a decades long vegan who passed away in her 70s. I left Australia for a three year contract in the UK and returned in October 2022 looking foward to my first visit back. However, it was clear things had changed. The whole set up is now clearly oriented towards the cake business. The inside is no longer an inviting place for sit-in customers. Shelves lined with cake boxes take up former table areas and the counters make the space feel squashed. It feels like cafe people are secondary, and inconvenient? You can't get sandwiches toasted anymore (was that really such a bother?) and they give you flimsy bamboo cutlery instead of the real thing. The bamboo breaks even trying to cut through a scroll let alone a baguette. It used to be somewhere you'd see regulars every week, have a chat, and the cafe bit was really busy. But the two Saturdays I've been now there are always free tables while other cafes along the street are packed full (that says something). I wondered what had changed and discovered (through Google) that the business had been franchised while I was away and taken over by someone else. While the counter food still seems to taste the same (same chef perhaps?) the other changes have really put me off going there to enjoy a well-earned relaxed breakfast after a week at work. I'm sorry to say this about a 100% vegan business, but it's just not an inviting place anymore, and the distance I used to cycle there, looking forward to it, does not seem worth it. I may go once in a while, but it's definitley no longer top of my list, maybe not even top five. I hope the owners rethink their approach to the cafe area and atmosphere, but perhaps they're making enough from the cake business that they care less about that now.
