Mostly amazing

I do love Moksa and I’ve tried several dishes, majority of the time it’s amazing but occasionally there’s just certain elements that need improvement (or it could just be a personal taste). It’s a whole experience to go to the restaurant, it’s a beautiful and peaceful environment. I love the low tables that overlook the permaculture garden…. but there’s also the main restaurant area for anyone who prefers chair seating.

The food - I loved the super protein bowl with quinoa & tempeh (great solo meal), the tempeh BBQ ‘ribs’ are unique and tasty (but best as a sharing plate not a whole meal), love the sweet potato mash that comes with various dishes, the rice meals are all good, veggie burger has yummy ingredients inside but made with a moringa bun (I didn’t realise until after I ate it why the bun tasted odd to me) but the sweet potato fries that come with it are good. The jackfruit tacos are a nice flavour but quite messy to eat since they fell apart while eating. My cousin enjoyed the kimchi rice paper rolls (I don’t personally like kimchi so I didn’t try them) and the halloumi in the grilled halloumi salad is coconut based so I loved it but she didn’t (so that really depends on if you like coconut!). I’ve enjoyed all the drinks I’ve had, most recently the super immunity booster that’s very tropical and yum.

I recommend going as it’s a wonderful venue and just be selective with what you choose (the menu mentions what items are raw/heated/cooked which is helpful!)

Pros: diverse vegan menu , beautiful venue , great customer service

Really bad experience stomach cramps and throwing up

I can’t agree at all with the reviews below and i think this restaurant gets hyped for no reason. We got the tempeh ribs and the beetroot steak. For the ribs the tempeh doesn’t fit at all, it’s super weird and just cut up and marinated in the sauce, which seemed to be like a plum sauce or something.( Don’t know why not using seitan or other substitute for gf. )As well the potato mash was really bad don’t know how you can mess up potato mash tbf. With the steak the only thing I could taste was the pepper sauce which was really overpowering and the rice side was not good either. As well directly after leaving I got really bad stomach cramps never experienced something so bad and had to throw up immediately after being home. After the food was out I felt much better. Well my husband liked the blue cheese a lot tbh. That was the only thing though.
But the staff is really nice but not going back just for nice service.

Moksa is fantastic! I could eat here again and again and again. The environment, the staff, the food - wow! We were lucky to stay so close to here. They run yoga classes and have a fruit and veg market on Saturday mornings.

Pros: All vegan, Tasty!!, Beautiful

Go for the Asian options

Moksa has a mix of Western and Asian options. I’m not impressed by the Westeern choices, but the Asian options are incredible. The laksa is amazing.

A Total Experience

Had a really late lunch here on my own today and loved it. The food was so fresh, beautifully plated, full of flavor. The road to the tiny village of Sayan, within Ubud, was crazy....the tiniest road I've ever seen. I asked my grab driver to wait for me and paid him to do so because, tho I may be wrong, I cant imagine a lot of drivers being thrilled to drive out there.

The setting felt like I was way out in the country tho its only just outside the busiest streets in Ubud. Its really zen and peaceful.

I read several reviews and one complained the service wasn't attentive perhaps that's somewhat true...but they were very kind and hospitable. It wasn't always easy to get their attention but frankly, I loved that. I was focused on the food and was distracted taking care of things with my attention on my phone .

This place has the full Bali experience, a dojo with several martial arts, yoga etc.

I definitely recommend this place. You won't be dissappointed.

Still dreaming of the Jerky Mongolian

It was made of a sweet potato mash and tempeh with a Mongolian sauce bursting with umami flavors. Everything I tasted was really delicious, and I enjoyed the open area where you eat.

Pros: Permaculture, Super tasty

Loved it

During our visit to Ubud, we couldn't resist checking out Moksa, as it came highly recommended by multiple people. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

We had an incredible feast with a variety of dishes that left our taste buds in awe. The Balinese Rijsttafel provided an authentic culinary experience, while the Crispy Oyster Mushroom was a crispy delight with bursting flavors. The Cheese Platter Section offered delicious vegan cheese, and the Sushi Maki was perfectly rolled and full of freshness. The Incredible Curry Tofu was a delightful explosion of fragrant spices, and the Crispy Cauliflower was golden and irresistibly tasty.

The restaurant's diverse vegan menu and the quality of the dishes truly impressed us. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.

If you're staying in Ubud, Moksa is a definite must-visit for all vegans and food enthusiasts alike. The food experience here is unparalleled, making it a true gem in Bali.

Pros: Diversity , Clean/ healthy / raw dishes , Flavour

Cons: Hard to find at night

Excellent lunch/dinner

Vegan family of 6.
Cool place, only accessible by scooter or walk, 100 yards from road so not a major walk.

The menu in my opinion is divided between vegan fare that is avg and top notch. See below.

Excellent:
Jack breast champion (sooo good!) we ordered 2 more after everyone had a bite of the first 2!
Side of cauliflower bites
Lemongrass spritzer

Avg:
Love burrito
Avocado & cheese sandwich
Masala pumpkin uttapam
Chocolate desserts: we tried 7 diff things, not impressed but we have high standards for food and desserts in general.

The jack breast champion is out of this world!

Pros: Jack breast champion order!, Staff, Vibe

Cons: Mosquitos can be an issue at night

One of the best!

Possibly one of my favourite eats in the world, no kidding! The laksa is one of my many faves. Absolutely delicious and well executed dishes I can’t get enough of. Can’t wait to go back.

Affordable high end vegan food

The plant based food has really wide variety option and it’s pretty affordable!
Food was delicious and their staff service I would say is top notch, well trained & very very very polite! Environment could be better if there is more indoor seatings. Nonetheless, would definitely come back again! 🥰

Pros: Affordable, Wide vegan options, Very very nice staff

Cons: Limited indoor seating

Disappointed

We were excited to try Moksa after reading the reviews and having it recommended.

The setting is lovely. The burger was pretty good. but the accompanying sweet potato fries were kinda soggy. My cauliflower pizza was pretty tasteless, and the texture of the buckwheat crust was too soft. The nice cream flavor selection was good.

The service was inattentive— in fact the worst we’ve had in Bali.

Pros: Setting

Cons: Mediocre food , Inattentive service

Scenic restaurant with superb food

Lunch and dinner menu different. Very difficult to decide what to have as so many options that sounded great. Eventually had the chef's bowl with a fresh juice. Chef is the owner. Very nice setting overlooking the area where a lot of ingredients are home grown😄

Lovely place with flavorful food

We really liked the food at Moksa - very flavorful dishes garnished with a lot of love! They also have a very beautiful outdoor sitting area.
It is more on the expensive side though and the portions are not that big.

Pros: Flavorful , High quality , Nice atmosphere

Cons: Bit more expensive , Smaller portions

Delicious food in a scenic outdoor setting

We had come to Moksa for dinner. We had the grilled jackfruit steak with mashed potatoes in a rich creamy sauce. It was indulgent and delicious! We had a side of the cauliflower bites, which was very tasty as well. We got an extra portion of the cream cheese which was aged and super creamy.

We would highly recommend the place and we think the ambience will be incredible in the day time more than the evening since it's in such a scenic natural setting.

Really good

A beautiful venue with a fine dining feel at a fairly reasonable price. The pizza was a bit small but very good ( although it's nothing like a pizza really, it just looks like one ), and the chocolate orange dessert was amazing 👍
