New Fut Kai, Singapore - Edit
I went for hot pot. Their hot pot very basic, so don't expect expect huge choice. The menu marks vegan choices. I also had a bean curd dish that was pretty good.

Unbelievable! 🤤 - Edit
We went for the Gongbao Lion’s Mane and Nonya curry fish.
Read moreOMG, our minds were absolutely blown! Not only was the preparation incredibly fast, but the dishes tasted SO good! The fish tasted SO fishy 🤯 hard to believe it’s vegan at all. The Lion’s mane was nice and sticky and caramelized: perfect balance between sticky and spicy! Lovely staff as well 😊 We will definitely be back during our trip.
Pros: SO many vegan /vegan option dishes, Great quality mock meats and fresh vegs, Authentic experience
Cons: none!

Hotpots - Edit
Allium-free Chinese vegetarian restaurants with plenty of vegan options clearly indicated on the menu. The menu features healthy housemade dishes, some of which draw inspiration from TCM. My favourite a la carte items include the yuzu sesame toufu, pumpkin sauce mushroom, tempeh mix veg padang curry, and sweet potato ring. They are known for their signature charcoal hotpots; my favourite is the yuzu coconut miso hotpot. However, I must say that the most recent time I visited (June 2024), I was rather disappointed by their seasonal special White Tom Yum Charcoal Hotpot. The default version (based on the menu and sponsored influencers' pics) apparently consisted of creamy soup filled with a generous amount and variety of 'seafood' toppings. I opted for the vegan non-dairy version, which turned out to be clear tom yum broth (??) with only seaweed 'fish skin' and beancurd 'fish' apart from vegetables (??) If a vegan option is offered, I would expect reasonable substitutes to be made, such as coconut milk and protein alternatives. There are lots of affordable vegan konjac 'prawns' and 'seafood tofu' etc available in the market; I even have them in my own freezer at home. Or at the very least, there could have been assorted types of beancurd. I don't typically criticise F&Bs, and am in fact known in the community to go all out to support veg F&Bs. But with a price tag of $32++, this really wasn't value-for-money, with the vast majority of the ingredients simply being removed. I gave feedback to the waiter, but was told that the new standing instruction from the management was for all dairy and mock meat items to be replaced with vegetables for vegan options. This honestly comes across as lacking sincerity in welcoming and serving vegans. I privately reached out to the online marketing team hoping the management and kitchen staff would take my genuine feedback into consideration moving forward, but sadly my messages were left on read without acknowledgement or reply, further reinforcing the impression that vegans (vs vegetarians) and/or paying customers (vs invited influencers) aren’t taken seriously. Quite a letdown as I’ve been a long-time supporter of NFK; it used to be one of my favourite vegan-friendly restaurants and one I often recommended to tourists etc. I would like to highlight that one waiter (I think his name was something like Jarryl) was very patient in listening to me and offered service recovery, which I truly appreciate; however, the issue here

Excellent service Outstanding dishes - Edit
Dishes are impeccable - must try’s are the charcoal hotpots( don’t think u can find another one in SG!), pumpkin mushroom and mala chicken! SERVICE IS TOP NOTCHED- a full house but yet the waiters are patient and take care of every fine detail from special requests to topping up of hot water. Nothing but praises of this restaurant! Wished for higher capacity! #Veganuary

I ordered the vegan duck. Unfortunately it comes without rice so you have to order it extra. The portion was small but it was surprisingly filling. Its not cheap but it's definitely worth it to go there once.

A bit expensive, but if you go for lunch, ask for the lunch menu for a good deal (-10$ for a dish and a drink).

Xinghua vegan fried bee hoon - Edit
Tried their signature Xinghua vegan fried bee hoon, this was definitely one of the best vegan fried bee hoon in town, food came fast and piping hot despite full house, the texture and moisture of the bee hoon were just on point, lots of ingredients too, smell and taste great, recommended.

Order olive fried rice and yuzu ramen via grab.
Read moreMy non veg mum was very please with yuzu ramen, she commented that it was very good and special but portion was quite big for her (which I guess the price match with the portion given)
Olive fried rice was just as nice too! First mouthful of rice, my 5yo said “Mummy it’s so yummy” with a thumbs up.
I was like what? Got so yummy eh?! So I tried both, ramen was really good, I cleared every drop of the soup that came separately with it. Rice was not bad too, it wasn’t too salty or anything, just right.
Definitely will bring my family here for dinner. 🙏🏻😊

Many veg and vegan options! - Edit
Vegan options available @newfutkai ~ Had below vegan spicy dishes (yet not heaty woots~ 🌶). These dishes are definitely suitable for mild spicy taker as my Sister can 😋
Read more✨ Laksa Hotpot ($26/ $40) – Just look at the generous amount of ingredients. So worth it. If you dine in there, they will give you extra bowl of laksa soup, to ensure that you have enough laksa! Heard that some customers will dabao the extra laksa soup home to eat with noodles #tips #smart 😊! Yummy! I love the green ingredients in this and especially the handmade tofu wanton (had 3 of it 🥰 muahhahaa~) Also, it is served in traditional charcoal hotpot (seldom see it in around nowadays mannnnn)..我说去哪里找对不对!Go try! They have other interesting soup base such as yuzu coconut~
✨ Gongbao lion’s mane mushroom ($15/ $28) – This is the best! I had so many of it. Sweet little mushroom to me. Love this to go with rice!!!! Highly recommended to go for this! Likey this dish.
✨ Fragrant Sambal Grilled Fish ($14/ $26) – Good pairing of sour & spicy gravy on the fish & goes well with rice~ Will order this sometime soon as Dad like this kinda of fish dish but yet to try. 🤩
✨ Sparkling Mix Berries ($4) - chilled and refreshing drinks! Likey that there’s real berries in it! 😋
They are available on online delivery platform such as @grabfoodsg , @foodpandasg and @oddleeats too! Go check them out for delivery or physically when we are allowed to dine-in (REAL SOOOOON)!
Their menu is pretty >> I like menu with pictures (eyes-pleasing heh) 😍

Had their signature butter pumpkin mushroom, nyonya chap chye and a sharks fin (peach gum with bamboo pith) soup.
Read moreThe mushroom dish is very tasty and the soup is nice too. Really dislike the chap chye dish which is bland plus has a very strong unpleasant smell. Not sure if it's bamboo shoot but it's just terrible and I am a chap chye fan...
Cons: Expensive. 2 pax bill came to $54 for 2 dishes and, 1 soup.

Worth a visit - Edit
After reading the past reviews i was hesitant to eat here, although i went anyway. We came in for a late lunch the shop was still fairly busy and even still we were welcomed with excellent service. One man in particular took the time to tell us his recommendations and show us the deals and food platters ect. We ended up ordering one of his recommendations instead of what we originally had our mind set on, it was unbelievable. The plate which was roughly 25 singapore dollars offered 5 signature dishes for us to try. ALL VEGAN. We wanted to order 2 more sides but staff suggested we wait until we finish the platter in case we couldnt finish, good thing they did, we were busted after the platter and 1 side. Extremely affordable considering most prices we've paid for restaurant meals. Outstanding service and remarkable food.

Oily food - Edit
Herbal hot pot soup is super oily. Charcoal Tofu with pumpkin sauce is made with margarine/butter. It was my mum's birthday and we wanted her to be happy but it became a sad affair. We arrived at 5pm and the restaurant was not open. Once we got in, we were offered a table and was told we have to leave at 6:45pm for the next reserved table. We agreed and sat down. At 6:10pm the owner came and told us he is going to clear the table. My sister was still eating, her mouth was still chewing noodles. I ordered a dessert so he can feel better about making more money and not chase us out on the agreed time of 6:45pm. When he delivered the dessert he told us he's going to clear the table again and he wanted to clear away my sister's bowl. She was still eating. I told him it's only 6:20 and we were told we can have the table until 6:45pm. He said he wasn't told that and he again hurried us to leave. He NEVER apologize for the rudeness. The bill was $101 for 4 people. Not cheap and the food is mediocre. Yes, go ahead and make more money forget about how to treat people with kindness. That's the philosophy of New Fut Kai. It's just sad because we wanted our mother who just found out she has cancer to have a nice meal. We will NEVER be back again.
