Vegan options need improvement

We’ve had great vegan sushi and omakase experiences in other cities and we’re excited to come here for a special occasion. We specified vegan omakase when we made the reservation. Keep in mind they only do seatings at 5pm, 530 and 830 for vegan omakase. My partner and I are both vegan so we don’t know how our experience compares to their other menus, but overall we were really disappointed in the vegan experience here. On the plus side, everything they brought us was vegan, some of it was good, but several dishes did not taste good at all. In particular there were some really bitter tasting pickles that we could not even choke down, the miso soup was a Hawaiian style and way too sweet for miso soup, and at least one of the dishes tasted burnt. About halfway through I just wanted it to be over, because I didn’t like anything they brought out. The price for the vegan menu is the same as for fish, and I have paid way less for much better experiences elsewhere. I am hoping this place improves, but we felt serious regret coming here. They were at least open to our feedback and kind enough to refund half of our bill.

Pros: Will do vegan omakase, Hopefully their vegan menu will improve

Cons: Not worth the price, did not enjoy it
