Best vegan restaurant around - Edit
This is a bit confusing because on Google and on the storefront this was called Padoca, but the address and everything else seems to tell me that this is the listing.
Read moreThis is hands-down the best vegan restaurant my girlfriend and I have tried in Portugal, and probably up there with anything we've tried in Paris, Amsterdam, Guadalajara, or back home in Austin.
The chorizo quesadillas (not sure if that was their actual name) were spectacular, and the "duck" dish was excellent (reminded me of paella). The francesinha was quite good too (although if you find yourself in Coimbra, the one at Praxis brewery is the best one we've tried.)
The donuts were also delicious. We would've loved to come back here the next day but unfortunately we had to leave Porto before they opened.
Cons: Hours

appetizing pastries - Edit
I have been a customer of guará (previously padoca) for years and had the pleasant surprise of finding them in a plant based market - and I knew straight away that I would indulge and get some of the best and most delicious pastries I have ever had in my life. the donuts are something out of this world and they completely melt in your mouth - the filling is both creamy and delicate. really recommend them and I hope to have very soon the chance to support them again!

Simply amazing! Must visit! - Edit
We had a romantic day out and wanted to visit after drooling over their Instagram. What an experience, service was incredible, mood and environment are cozy and inviting, and the amazing food tops it all off. We will be returning soon, I suspect! If you are around, you must visit!

Vegan Portuguese food - Edit
Make reservations on their website; it was busy when we went. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Had the house francichesca and the "duck" rice, and both were very good. It was such a treat to easily order vegan food in Portugal!

I would give 6 stars if I could - Edit
Probably the best service I've ever gotten in any restaurant.
Read moreWe went there twice. The first time we had sausage, cheese and bread as a starter, my girlfriend had a burger as her main and I tried a chicken Francesinha. The taste was exceptional. The waiters were all really friendly, I was regularly asked if I wanted more sauce. Afterwards we took some pastries to go, those being one Pizza pastry, one filled with seitan, a KitKat doughnut and a pistachio croissant. All of them were amazing as well, and we even got a free Pastel de Nata because I tipped 6€ (which is pretty standard on a bill of 54€!). The food for that price is unbelievably good, mains are 13 - 15€, a doughnut is 2.80€. Similarly sized and decorated doughnuts are usually twice that in price in Germany.
The second time we went there was our 7 year anniversary. We had the same starter but different main dishes. My girlfriend had what was basically a baguette bun filled with sausage, topped with cheese in a Francesinha sauce, and I had Patatas Rotas, which consists of seitan strips, sausage, potatoes and cheese in a Francesinha sauce. For dessert I had the cheesecake and my girlfriend the semifreddo.
Like before, food and service was absolutely amazing. The waiter even took our picture after I asked him to because of our anniversary. Because of that we got a free snickers doughnut to take home!
I would eat here everyday if I could. Definitely the best vegan restaurant near Porto.

Very good traditional Portugees food as well as other kinds of food. - Edit
The staff were super friendly and were able to seat us without a reservation. Had a very good appetizer for only 2,90 and the burgers and traditional Portugees food were all fairly priced. The baked goods were still looking and tasting very nice at the end of the day.

friendly - Edit
The staff was very friendly and nice.
Read moreI really liked the tortilla appetizer and the desserts, but they were huge. One dessert is more than enough for two people, especially the biscoff one was like a meal in itself.
Unfortunately none of us liked the francesinha, as the sauce was way too strong and overwhelming for us. The other rice dish was good, but way too oily.

Burgers, donuts and smiley fries - yes please! - Edit
I’ve been a customer of Padoca since the very beginning, back when it was just a corner of a traditional pastelaria near the beach (Valadares, I believe?). I’ve watched the project grow and evolve over the years and along the way, became friends with Felipe, the owner. Our kids celebrate every birthday with something from Padoca’s decadent pastry selection and are now friends with the staff, who always welcome us like family.
Read moreThe burgers are indulgent (my favorite is the Goloso with the cheese on the outside) and the rissóis are perfect, especially paired with a cold beer. The francesinha is spot-on, and even the kids’ meals are a hit with our little ones (those smiley fries never fail!).
And of course, we never leave empty-handed, we always bring home the best donuts, which somehow stay fresh and fluffy for 48 hours.
Padoca is the perfect place for both vegan and non-vegan foodies that like to indulge.
Pros: Burgers, Donuts, Kids meals

Friends recommended we stop here and they were so right. So friendly, cute interior and off the charts Portuguese food. We had the francesina, tofu com broa (tofu with seaweed breadcrumbs) and the cachorrinho de casa (starter). And some pasteis de nata and a dounut to take home. All 10/10
