Be my Queen - Edit
Hip spot - heavy on the sushi influence - we went a bit crazy and ordered 6 things after a visit to Wrigley. I really like what they are doing here, good flavors, cool presentation.
Read moreI'll go with the Chicken Fried mushrooms and the 1000 layer potato. And the Mat cha cheesecake was a great finish.
This is worth a stop and visit .
Pros: Nice ambience , Funky and Fun, Rare - sushi vibe

Such creative food - Edit
This place was incredible!! My favorite was the eggplant nigiri. Also ordered the crab rangoon dip, the lettuce wraps (both not pictured) and the firecracker roll. Everything was delicious and not as expensive as I thought it would be.

Perfect - Edit
Started with the portobello nigiri- great start! Sprinkled with just the right amount of wasabi powder (for those of us who don’t tolerate heat well) and extra wasabi on the side (for those that can handle it). I had the Poke Bowl - so much going on in there! Chunchy fried mushrooms; creamy avocado; spicy mayo - so good!

Sophisticated, delicious, creative! - Edit
Planta queen feels like a modern, high-end restaurant that happened to be vegan. The food is creative and very tasty. The layered potatoes and the sushi were a beautiful treat, staff was friendly and attentive. 5/5

Incredible food, service needs improvement - Edit
Had an incredible dinner here; nothing about the food to fault. Beautiful presentation, nuanced flavors, absolutely delicious. The restrooms were disappointing (gross), but I was willing overlook that. Went back for lunch a few days later and was treated poorly by the host, and seated at a table with food on the seats. Walked out.

So so delicious! The udon noodles are to die for as always. The peanut pie was amazing! And the sushi continues to be impressive. It's not quite the vibes of their Toronto location but the food is on point just like Toronto and New York.

Intriguing vegan dishes - Edit
We stopped by Planta Queen early Saturday evening and got on the waitlist. An hour later, I received the text -- we had a table... but it was outdoors. Even though I wasn't dressed for the cool temps, we hurried back and took our spot. I forgot the cold and enjoyed having a front row seat to Chicago life on a summer night.
Read moreOur server Alondra was very helpful suggesting dishes for us to share, and just the right amount of attentiveness, checking in but not hovering.
The dishes we got -- a maki roll, noodles, and beef/broccoli -- were all good. My only complaint is that they all arrived at different times, and there was a long gap between the second and third items. If we hadn't been sharing, that would have been awkward.
Most notable: Herb your Enthusiasm. One of the most interesting drinks I've ever tried!

Canola oil - Edit
At the price point, use of canola oil is inexcusable. Good tasting options, but not "healthy" choices.

Everything was very interesting flavor wise. Felt a few things could have had more spice. The matcha cheesecake is very delicious.

Unwelcome substitutions - Edit
The Al Pastor bowl had lovely flavors..
Read moreBoth the spring roll bowl and the al pastor bowl came with a lot of very dry, un-massaged kale, which was neither mentioned on the menu nor shown in any of the picture of the dishes online (which shows romaine lettuce and cilantro, both missing). The spring roll salad particularly suffered from this over reliance on kale. I sort of suspect, given how many things were unavailable that day (2/3 of all things ordered), that they were making do with some unfortunate substitutions.
Waiter mostly MIA. Went wandering to get our own water and track down our check.

Traveling and on my own. No reservation so I went in early (5pm) and got a table! Food was sooooo good and no worries about anything being non-vegan. This place is the best!

Singapore noodles - Edit
We went with three people and our opinions were mixed. While I enjoyed my Singapore noodles the others found their noodles a bit weird, they were tasteless and chewy. The portions were quite big so unfortunately we couldn't try any dessert.

Had a late dinner while at a conference. The 1000 layer potato dish was amazing!!! The lettuce cups just as delicious and the Cauliflower D’s was great and filling. Too full for dessert.

Almost perfect - Edit
Great food, variety impressive. Special mentions for the miso tofu salmon tasty (even though it didn't taste like salmon, which was still ok), ahi watermelon hand roll, gyoza dumplings (though wish there was steam-only option), carrot cake and the Al Pastor bowl was yum. Sadly, service was slow and inattentive during mid afternoon which took away from the experience.

Nice spot - Edit
Pardon the lame title. Stopped here for lunch. Lots of seating options, tables, booths, bar. We had sushi hand rolls, udon noodles, General D’s cauliflower, banana pudding, and cookie w/ ice cream. The cookie and a glass of sparkling wine were comped for my birthday. All the food was good - nothing mind blowing, but good.

Amazing experience as always. - Edit
You can’t go wrong with a PLANTA restaurant. When my husband and I were visiting Chicago, we were so happy to find one. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is always chic, and the service is always excellent. The menu is a flavorful vegan paradise, and a sober person, I always appreciate the variety and complexity of the mock-tails at PLANTA.

Vegan Gem in River North - Edit
This is the second visit I made to Planta Queen in Chicago’s river north neighborhood. Great location and within walking distance to many hotels in the area. The food is all vegan with many interesting items on the menu to try. I loved the bang bang broccoli and the dan dan noodles was spicy with an outstanding mix of vegan chickens and crispy vegetables. Service was great and attentive.
