Muito gostoso! - Edit
Been so looking forward to visiting ever since I first tasted their delicious food at @kordiaevents vegan fair in Brackley. Everything exceeded expectations and I’m so delighted it’s all going so well at their new restaurant in Stokes Cross. Whether you’re vegan, veggie or anything else- no question that their food is absolutely delicious. 💙💙💙 Will definitely be back!

Vegan Portuguese - Edit
Portuguese food is not exactly vegan friendly so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think they did a good job. I'd definitely come back.

Really nice food which couldn't be faulted. Only downside is that it's a popular place and we were pressured to leave our table after an hour

Nice atmosphere but food not made from scratch - Edit
Not sure how to fairly rate this place. It had such great reviews that I visited Bristol partly just to eat there. The place was very cosy, super nice staff, pleasant music. Yet...
Read moreWhen it comes to food, my expectations are high. I expect almost everything to be made from scratch, and to try flavours that I would not be able to try otherwise. Specially if the prices are not on the cheapest side.
This is why I was not happy with my Francesinha. I was looking forward to the "mock meats" which I thought would be made in-house, but it turned out to be just burgers, sausages and bacon from regular supermarket brands. I wonder what in my Francesinha was home-made? Perhaps the sauce, at least? The bread was probably store-bought, the fries likely made from frozen...
They have other items on the menu which I guess will also be prefabricated - prawns, cod... Many meals seem just to be ready-made items assembled together, rather than a meal cooked by the chef from start to finish.
This is my issue with Plantuguese, but if I am wrong, I will be happy to visit again and try some of the other dishes. I wish them the best of luck.

Beautiful food and great hospitality - Edit
I’ve been waiting to try Plantugese for ages and it did not disappoint. We went for Valentine’s Day and it was absolutely beautiful!! Such a cool atmosphere and the food was completely unreal.
Read moreWe shared three small plates of calamari, the king oyster “scallops” in creamy brandy sauce, and the Pica-Pau - all bursting with flavour. For our main we both had the Lion’s Mane “Bife à Casa” and it was next level. The texture, the garlic and red wine marinade, the peppercorn sauce.. everything was perfect!!!! The staff were also so friendly and welcoming too. I was so pleased with the whole experience - 5 stars and I’ll definitely be back!

A Masterclass in Vegan Portuguese Cuisine - Edit
Plantugese is a true hidden gem in Bristol. Making the jump from street food to a full restaurant is no easy feat, but the owners have absolutely nailed it. The quality of the food is a massive testament to the chefs' skills, everything feels elevated and intentional.

Yummy traditional food made vegan - Edit
Food was great and very tasty. We went as a big group, so the food took some time. But staff was super friendly and worked very hard to serve us. The mushroom bife was fantastic! Must try!

Amazing Food - Edit
My wife and I went here last night and the food was amazing! The service was really good and the owner took the time to come and talk to us and check everything was ok. It was also lovely to see the restaurant so busy. Overall, great food and experience, would definitely recommend.

Lovely food, lovely people (and dog-friendly too!) - Edit
Visited Plantuguese last Friday and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a cosy vibe that makes it perfect for a laid-back evening out. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm without feeling overbearing.
Read moreI had the lion’s mane mushroom steak, which was a real standout — beautifully cooked, deeply savoury, and incredibly satisfying. My wife ordered the Francesinha, and it was rich, indulgent, and full of flavour, clearly inspired by the traditional Portuguese classic but done brilliantly plant-based.
The menu is quite limited, but honestly, that feels like a strength rather than a drawback. Everything we had felt very considered and well executed, and it’s refreshing to see a restaurant focus on doing a smaller number of dishes really well.
It’s also very dog-friendly — our dog Ronnie came along and absolutely loved all the attention he got from both the staff and other diners, which just added to the warm, welcoming feel of the place.
Overall, Plantuguese is a fantastic addition to Bristol’s vegan scene — great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.
Pros: The menu, Friendly staff, Atmosphere

Amazing vegan Portuguese food! - Edit
This place works wonders with vegan food making so many cool portugues dishes you didn't even think could be vegan-ised! Their mushroom 'scallops' were amazing as was the chowder dish, the nori really brought out a fishy flavour. And of course you have to get a pastel de nata for dessert, I would eat these everyday if I could!

Wow, believe the hype.

The staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming.
The food is filling, distinctive and flavoursome (see pics and check their website for updates on the menu).

The plan is to work our way through the entire menu over the coming months.

A fantastic range of options from small plates and sides to main dishes. I loved the ‘sardines’ made from tofu and seaweed and the ‘scallops’ made from oyster mushrooms. The pastel de nata for dessert was a perfect ending to the meal. What a great addition to Bristol’s vegan restaurant offerings.

Absolutely bangin’ - Edit
So good, food top tier, i had the ‘cod’ and potato dish and it was phenomenal. Non vegan friends enjoyed theirs. I’m local to southampton and these guys come to our vegan market so I have bee lucky enough to already know they’re good from the market, but sitting in having a different dish sangria was great. The vibe/decor of the restaurant is really nice too!

The food was incredible. Service was excellent and the aesthetic genuinely makes you feel like you’re abroad, even though we dined on a cold evening in January 😅 So pleased Plantugese now has its own restaurant space and has expanded further. Will be back!

Come with me to Bristol's newest vegan restaurant, Plantuguese !
Read moreWe had the entire small plates menu because we couldn't decide what to have. 😅 Sadly they were out of octopus but we had some delicious oyster mushrooms instead.
The food was like nothing I have ever tasted and each dish was so rich with sauce, we ordered some extra bread to mop it all up!
Highlight dishes:
Camarãro De Fricassé (prawns)
Pica-Pau (beef stew)
I'm desperate to go back and enjoy a jug of sangria on a warm spring evening. 😍
A great team with delicious food.
