So good we went back the next day - Edit
One of the best vegan breakfasts we've had anywhere. Strikes a rare balance between all the best notes of a full breakfast and feeling clean and healthful. Staff were super helpful and accommodating. Also took away a couple of sandos for lunch and both of those were excellent too.

Best burger ever - Edit
The quarter pounder is next level!! How they melt the cheez onto the patty and crispy bits come out the sides... Wow. The custard doughnut was also amazing and the mushroom leek pie and coconut iced coffee were really good too.

The BEST Vegan Cafe. - Edit
Simply the best in food, service and atmosphere. I have been to Portershed more times than I can count. I love that everything is made in house and freshly made. And of course, the Hash Attack burger is the BEST brekkie burger I have ever had. And I'm sure Emma makes them bigger every time I order one to see if I can finish it.. It has beaten me a couple of times! 😄

Outstanding - Edit
We only had time for coffee and cakes but they were delicious. So much to choose from in the cabinet (savoury and sweet) plus they have a menu too. Also an amazing selection of vegan grocery goods (didn’t see any fresh produce).

Vegan Wonderland not to be missed - Edit
Got the big Brekky and it was absolutely mind blowing. Beans had an amazing smoky flavor and the chorizo sausage was the best vegan sausage I’ve ever had. The store sells tons of vegan products and has a cozy atmosphere with very friendly staff. Do not skip on this gem as it’s one of the best vegan spots in NZ!

Great store, mixed feelings about café - Edit
I've been to Portershed twice so far, and actually cannot decide what I think of it. I was hoping to get breakfast but there's no actual breakfast item on the menu, unless you eat burgers and fries for breakfast. I miss options such as pancakes or eggs benny.
Read moreThe cabinet options are decent but I was a bit disappointed that the staff didn't offer to heat up or toast the sandwich for me, actually didn't even unwrap it from the plastic.
I would give three stars but giving one extra for the store, which is actually amazing and you can buy many items which are not available elsewhere. It's expensive, though.
Personal favourite: purple latte!

Gluten Friendly Vegan Goodies - Edit
Love this place for a cake and coffee catch up. For fellow gluten free foodies there are menu and cabinet options. I can recommend the caramel brownie! Sometimes there will also be GF sandwiches in sourdough buns to take away. Great place to come for a bite and to pick up some vegan groceries.

A lovely reintroduction to Christchurch - Edit
After more than a decade away, it’s lovely to come back and find this funky little gem in Addington Village. Great coffee, beautiful fresh salad and a tasty green smoothie made for a really good lunch after a walk across town. Has a vegan grocery store also. I hope to come back next time I visit. #Veganuary

AMAZING! - Edit
I can’t say enough good things about this place. 100% vegan, and the food is so reasonably priced it’s incredibly competitive. We stocked up on some date paste, and tried some chocolate.

I won’t support them anymore - Edit
My daughter and I loved this place, I even ordered their produce boxes regularly to help support them while lockdown happened. Then they posted a horrible post on Facebook about how they were against the mandates to keep people like me safe (am immunocompromised). The owner seemed to think that my safety and other vulnerable peoples' safety was actually an attack on their own 'freedoms'. They even had the ignorance to use the word "discrimination" as though they were the actual victims. People were dying around them but because they had to wear masks and get immunised to continue to be open and help protect vulnerable humans they were the victims? It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad, disgusting and disappointing. I've never been in since and won't ever be back. I had to lock myself inside my house for months on end because of people who wouldn't wear masks, get vaccinated or follow the simple health guidelines - there is no way I would ever support this company or the owner again. Your 'freedoms' aren't more important than other peoples' lives.

Nice to be surrounded by so many lovely products. - Edit
Adored the chutney that came with the sausage roll and the coffee was nice too. I hope the UK’s vegan product prices make it to NZ too as certainly more accessible😄As for the fresh sausage roll, that was a good price and would highly recommend. It would have been nice to have had a few extra breakfast choices aside from the baked goods.
