Hidden gem for cheap lunch

Mainly a heatlh store with some options to eat in with limited seating. The salads are on display and you can easily guess what is vegan and what just vegetarian. Every day they also have two or three hot meals, ready made soy steaks or grilled veggies. Excellent value: only 70 CZK for one hot meal. Staff is nice and helpful, knowledgable about veganism so ready to answer what is vegan and what is not.

Pros: cheap

If you don't speak Czech, don't bother

I wanted to visit Potraviny for a quick take-away lunch. The place had a good selection of vegan products and the salads on display looked nice. However, when I asked the lady behind the counter if she spoke English (in Czech) she said no and after that completely ignored me. Before this the language barrier hasn't been an issue in Prague as the customer servers are usually very co-operative. I ended up leaving without buying anything.

Cons: service was unhelpful

small and happy

Small but nice veg fast-food, where you can still sit and enjoy quite wide variety of warm meals, cold czech sallads and spreads, coffee, tea, etc. Even ice lolly which is cool in hot summer. As a shop there is pleanty cold and dried veg products. Finally there are sweet cakes and season pies.

Great find!

Small shop but great range of items to make picnicking/self catering that bit easier! Staff helpful in pointing out vegan/non vegan foodstuffs. Traditional Czech specialities alongside internationally recognisable goods. Salad bar- range of tasty salads to go.

Nice Surprise

Expected this to be a shop but apart from a great selection of food stuffs it also does some great fast vegan food. The soup was perfect for a little pre lunch stopover. A little out of the centre but very close by are also a branch of Loving Hut and Govindas.

Pros: cheap, friendly

Away from central town

We found this food shop while walking to the bus stop for a bus to old town. The shop was near the hotel where we were staying. A nice find, actually.

Though it's a tiny shop, it stocks a range of organic packaged foods. We got some fresh grain breads and snacks to go.
