Vegan Options! - Edit
I'm thankful to have Queen of Sheba nearby as they offer my favorite Ethiopian food in the city. Although I rarely stray from my usual order (the 100% vegan Vegetarian Platter), I'm consistently pleased with the flavors, portions, & health-consciousness of their cuisine. I wish they were available for delivery, but they're definitely worth the trip outside.

I live too close - Edit
This place is just around the block from my apartment and is a danger to my wallet. I regularly eat here and love the sampler plate. Also the prices are very reasonable.

Kik-ass! - Edit
I honestly had no idea what Ethiopian food was until my friends introduced me to this place but I am now completely obsessed with it. It's one of the best things I've eaten and I try to go as often as I can. If you're new, get the house vegetarian sampler (it's all vegan) and try everything. I have a few extra-favorites so now I usually get the three item combo (three different things to scoop up with the delicious injera). I love the kik alicha (yellow split pea stew with mild seasoning), kik wet (split pea stew with warm spices), shiro wet (a wonderful paste made with spiced chickpea flavor), and atakilt alicha (potatoes, carrots and green beans with alicha spice). It's a ton of food for the money and it is filling in a healthy-happy-belly kind of way not. It's even better as leftovers because the injera turns into a flavor sponge for all the goodness.

Our favorite Ethiopian food in Portland - Edit
Queen of Sheba is just a few blocks from our house. We always thought we like Ethiopian food - until we tried a few other Ethiopian restaurants in town - now we know we love Queen of Sheba. The vegan food is spiced lovingly. The Injera is fresh and delicious. All the vegan choices are good and our favorites are the Atakilt Alicha, the mustard greens, lentils or the split peas in warm spices. The lemony dressing on the green salad makes that a requirement every time we eat here. She puts so much care into the flavors of the vegan dishes.
