Fantastic - Edit
I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend Easter Sunday than, along with a good friend, taking a vegan cooking class taught by Roy and Colin of Rancho Vegano. I’d been looking to expand the vegan meal options I make for both my husband and myself and this experience was the answer. Roy and Colin spent a considerable amount of time determining what my friend and I were looking to gain from the class and then tailored it to meet our needs. Upon arrival at Rancho Vegano, we were welcomed with steaming coffee and delectable vegan cookies in a friendly, supportive environment. With mugs of coffee in hand, we then got down to the business of vegan food prep and cooking. Along the way, Roy and Colin shared their insights and vast knowledge regarding healthy eating, nutritional needs and exercise. At the end, my friend and I had four different flavorful (and easy to make!) meals to bring home and share with our loved ones. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is looking to expand their vegan meal repertoire. I see myself returning in the future, with my husband, so that he can broaden his horizons in the kitchen as well. Thank you, Colin and Roy, for such a fun and meaningful day!

Best Bed and Breakfast in AZ - Edit
It’s been a minute since me and my now fiancé went here, but I’d like anyone who wants to come to know that our stay here was absolutely amazing. The property was very serene and secluded, there was a beautiful pool (which we’ll have to come back to try out in the summer), there’s plenty of things to do within the immediate area, and Colin and Roy (the hosts) are phenomenal cooks. We couldn’t have asked for better service or hospitality and the food was literally to die for😩. Definitely will be coming back again🙂. #Veganuary

I enjoyed a house-made breakfast made by Forks Over Knives certified vegan chefs Colin and Roy. They were kind and welcoming. The views are beautiful, and the space is clean. The saltwater pool was spotless and was at the perfect temperature. Nicely sized freezer/fridge, a purified water dispenser, and the comfiest bed.

Paradise in the Desert - Edit
My boyfriend and I wanted to visit Saguaro National Park for our vacation, so he scoured the area for any vegan hotels and he pleasantly came across a new vegan B&B, Rancho Vegano.
Read moreWhile inquiring about the facilities and then leading-up to (and even during) our stay, Colin and Roy’s communication was professional, informative and timely every time.
Once we arrived, a welcome packet was waiting for us. It outlined the various amenities that were supplied, an explanation of the grounds, a breakfast menu, and their favorite local restaurants that were either vegan or catered heavily to vegans. At one point during the correspondence, my boyfriend mentioned that we would be visiting during his birthday month, and that detail was not missed. Waiting on the dining table was a fresh bouquet of flowers and a birthday card.
The rooms were spotless, the shower was amazing and the living space was very comfortable, almost like home. They even supplied some vegan reading material along with information about the local sights.
Also, Colin and Roy tried to make Rancho Vegano as environmentally friendly as possible (which I applaud), from the bamboo sheets to the silverware. The only “gripe” we had, was the silverware. While eco responsible, it was a bit flimsy when trying to use and I was worried that I’d break the forks. They acknowledged the feedback and they mentioned that they’ll probably switch to metal silverware in the future.
Each morning we were entertained by local wildlife as we had our delicious and fluffy blueberry pancakes and a breakfast burrito stuffed with veggies with chipotle sour cream and a side of fruit. Both meals were delicious and kept us full for our day’s journeys.
There were a few occasions where I got to talk with Roy as he was tending to their grounds. Listening to their backstory and journey to veganism, their passion and dreams for what they want Rancho Vegano to evolve to is quite infectious. I can’t wait to see how they expand Rancho Vegano.
On our last morning, Colin and Roy invited us to have our breakfast up on their rooftop deck. The view was amazing and was the perfect start for our journey home. They also baked us fresh banana bread for the road, which was thoroughly devoured. Our only regret was not staying there longer, but it gives us an excuse to venture back.
Rancho Vegano is slice of paradise in East Tucson and we look forward to our next stay.

We're delighted that you had a wonderful stay and we've already followed up on your suggestion about the silverware; we now have metal silverware available in the guest suite. We hope to see you at Rancho Vegano again in the future :)

I’d stay again - Edit
From a new business, I kind of expect two things: great service, and a few kinks being worked out. A review, then, should be based on how they handle these two expectations. Honestly, Colin and Roy (the hosts) handled them splendidly.
Read moreI’ll start out by saying that I’m not vegan, but my girlfriend is. I wanted her to have a nice experience in Tucson, so I was excited to find Rancho Vegano (on Bing of all places). My excitement was well founded.
First, service. Leading up to our stay, they were communicative and pleasant, answering questions, giving me time, then tactfully following up in a way that made me feel welcomed, not pressured. That’s not an easy balance. During our stay, they again struck the right balance of being available without being intrusive. They read the room, got a sense of the degree of privacy we wanted, and were able to chat, give visitor tips, take care of things, share their story, then let us get on with our vacation. Perfect.
Second, the stay. The space they’ve set up is comfortable (and the shower is amazing). They’ve put a lot of effort into their vegan/sustainability approach, and it shows. The food, all vegan, was delicious. They took some requests, which was much appreciated, but mostly I tried to let them do their thing, which worked out well. There was occasional noise from their side of the house, but never at inappropriate hours and never enough to be a bother, at least for us.
Third, the kinks. Very little in this department, which is impressive at this stage. The pool was being redone and not useable, but they communicated this well in advance. The silverware was made of a sustainable material (bamboo I think?), which I applaud, but it was a little flimsy and hard to use. And I had to grab a hand towel from the linen closet after I’d washed my hands the first time, when there could have been a clean one hanging in advance. This is like, super minor stuff.
Bonus stuff: They left me a birthday card and fresh flowers (I’d forgotten I mentioned it). They invited us to the rooftop deck for breakfast on our last day. They baked us banana bread for the drive home (it was delicious). This is uncommonly generous treatment.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with Rancho Vegano. I really don’t write many reviews, and I feel moved to do so. I even signed up for Happy Cow so I could. I look forward to staying with them again.
Pros: Great value, Excellent communication, Good food
Cons: A few minor convenience quibbles
ColinEasom
Thanks for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! As a new venture, we genuinely appreciate your feedback so we can improve. We've already made changes based on your two recommendations - we've added metal silverware instead of bamboo and placed a small basket next to the bathroom sink containing hand towels and washcloths. We sincerely hope to see you again one day in the future :)
