Delicious Smorrebrod - Edit
This is a must-have in Copenhagen for a taste of local cuisine. Located in a cute, bustling market not far from Norresport. There were 3 vegan options on the menu and you could have all 3 for 120 (approx £13) which is incredible value compared to other Smorrebrod. There was a mushroom option, caramelised artichoke and butternut squash & pea. All 3 were unique and individually scrumptious. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and we went there twice. Although they may look small, they are extremely filling.

Delicious smørrebred - Edit
I highly recommend giving this place a try! They only had 2 of the 3 vegan options when I visited. But they were a-ma-zing! Especiall the one with roasted potatoes, absolutely delicious! 😊
Read moreIt's located in a foodmall, so the seating isn't too comfortable. Also the coffee is not great, but you can easily order coffee at one of the other stalls 😊 Overall totally worth it!

Best ever vegan open sandwiches - Edit
Amazing vegan open sandwiches, which they sell as a 3 as a combo or individually. The flavours were a delicious pumpkin with chilli oil, Jerusalem artichoke, and mushroom ones. My only suggestion for the restaurant is that the vegan options are so good they may as well stop serving the non-vegan stuff, it’s just unnecessary..

Lovely quick Danish food - Edit
I grabbed the Green Combo which was an assortment of different smørrebrød (a healthy amount of vegan toppings on ryebread) which was very tasty. Recommended for a more traditional Danish vegan meal.

First smørrebrød - Edit
We had never had smørrebrød before, so we can't speak to how this compares to what Danish people might be used to. But for first-timers, we enjoyed our first smørrebrød vegan style! One was mushroom and the other had some kind of thick vegetable spread. The base bread was hearty and good. The friendly counter person was glad to omit dairy from menu items to make them vegan. Happy we tried it.

Vegan options, tasty and typical Danish - Edit
If you're coming from a country without real good bread, trying Smørrebrød is a must when you visit Denmark. Here you can get a vegan mix which contains the toasted rye breads with the different spreads. It was pretty good to try, very friendly service. The coffee was not amazing though and the prices were not cheap, after all.

Whole Food Plant Based Options for Smørrebrød - Edit
Open-face toasted rye bread sandwiches are a Danish staple~ There are several vegetarian and vegan options at this smørrebrød shop located at Torvehallerne Food Hall (Nørreport station). Both cash and card accepted. Very whole-food plant-based focused with unique flavours! Available a la carte, or there’s also a vegetarian Green Combo (DKK 125) that is veganisable. During my visit in July 2024, this set consisted of Mushaboom (fermented mushrooms and vegetables, artichoke puree, vegan mayonnaise, pickled onion); Potato Potardo (creamy roasted baby potatoes, herbed lovage cream, and alfalfa sprouts); as well as Halløg Mad (mashed Ingrid peas and onion). Creative, tasty, and made using natural ingredients! Happy to try a vegan version of this Danish classic dish, and pleased that the staff was clear about what vegan requirements were.

Vegan Smørrebrød - Edit
I was really excited to be able to try smørrebrød when in Copenhagen and this did not disappoint. They have a Green Combo which is vegetarian but can be made vegan on request. There were three pieces - one beetroot, one mushroom and the other carrot - and all were absolutely delicious.

Loved it! - Edit
I wanted to get some vegan smørrebrod and there’s not much open near Christmas time in Copenhagen. I was very pleased to try one of the 2 vegan options at rørt. The staff recommended the Leftover as a good vegan option, and it was delicious! I love the pickled mushroom and onions. Really tasty.
