High end vegan cuisine - Edit
Loved this restaurant and their concept. The food is superb, mostly based on vegetables and their flavors, but you won't miss anything. The profile and ingredient combination seems simple but it's very well thought through. Most of their preparations are homemade like the seitan or tapenade.

Expectations were very high for the most recommended restaurant in Porto. Happy to say it delivered!

I loved their homemade truffle vegan butter, as well as the mega flavourful Mushrooms & Gravy dish with grilled greens. Service was very friendly and the restaurant had a nice, tranquil atmosphere.

The food here is amazing and the service is great. This is a must visit in Porto! I had the focaccia starter, passion fruit mocktail, asparagus risotto, and apple pie dessert. Everything was delicious.

This really isn’t worth the hype, food was terrible, service not great and whole atmosphere rubbish. The corn starter wasn’t even a whole cob! The artichoke dish I couldn’t eat most of it as was the inedible leaves! My partner had the wellington which I tired and was awful. They didn’t ask how the meal was otherwise would have said. Had much very meals in Porto. This is not good vegan food.

Fantastic and exciting vegan food - Edit
Amazing! Really inventive, exciting and most importantly delicious food. The people were incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly we just had the best time. It was good value, especially considering the quality. We are only here for a short time and it's the only place we HAVE to go back to.

Na 25 jaar vegetarisch te eten staat dit op 1. Ongelooflijk lekkere combinaties van smaken met een heel sympathieke bediening. Alleen voor dit restaurant zou in naar Porto willen verhuizen.

Cannot recommend Roots highly enough. The food was absolutely incredible and the staff was kind and welcoming. The corn ribs were a delicious appetizer and we ordered the Gnocchi and "scallop" dishes as mains. While the Gnocchi dish was amazing, the scallop dish was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The flavor of all the vegetables in the dish was outstanding and they somehow managed to make the tofu scallop taste like the real deal. Add this to the top of your Porto list!

Very good and innovative food - Edit
The bread plate for a starter was delicious, the pastel for appetizer was very tasty. For mains we had the gnocchi, which was soft and very well flavored, and the vieiras and okra. The last one was beautifully presented and very tasty as well. The only issue we had was that it was on a bed of very sweet corn puree that tasted like dessert.

Sometimes as a vegan I feel like I’ve missed the experience of dining out and have meals with full flavors; however, these meals were full of flavor and were beautiful! The portions were perfect so I could enjoy an appetizer, main course, and dessert. I went alone but if I was there with others I would definitively get multiple things to share and try.

Brought my 3 non-vegan friends here, but it was a hard sell. Staff were very attentive, but the room was cold and we didn't want to remove coats (it was a rainy night in April). The menu is small - which is fine, but the items we especially wanted to try (starters, mains and dessert) were not available. And one friend, who wasn't drinking and cannot drink acidic juices, was left with just water as the only fruit juice available on the night was orange. The food that we did get was nicely presented, but quite rich - everything seemed to be truffle/mushroom based and it needed something to cut through that. Overall a bit underwhelming. Perhaps they were having supplier issues and another time would be different.

Lovely restaurant with delicious main courses in particular. The desserts were tasty and (almost too) inventive. Service was great. Give it a try!
