Packing some heat - Edit
Our dining experience began with Popadoms accompanied by four dips, which were satisfactory. For mains, we enjoyed a flavorful chana dish and a spicy tarka daal, both of which delivered ample heat. However, we were disappointed by the absence of vegan bread options and the lack of effort to accommodate our request for vegan alternatives. Despite these shortcomings, the restaurant remains a decent choice, particularly for its location on the bridges.

So yummy!! - Edit
So impressed with Roti! The range of delicious options that are vegan (and gluten-free!) is wild! Allergens are clearly labelled on the (huge) menu. Every dish was so flavoursome - we ordered pretty much every vegan dish and couldn’t decide which was the nicest. Having the option to order smaller tapas-sized dishes to share is a fantastic idea and made eating at Roti feel very homely. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh, especially dining as a big group.

Okay Curry - Edit
They had a decent selection of vegan curries here at Roti, though I was disappointed that they didn’t have any vegan naan. We ordered popadoms to start and all 4 accompaniments were very tasty. Whatever the green sauce was, it was my favourite.
Read moreFor main I ordered an Okra masala with mushroom rice and roti. The okra masala was tasty enough but the majority of the sauce was made up of oil. After a while of eating it, it became a little sickly. The sauce was also not very abundant so I found there wasn’t enough to really coat my roti, which otherwise was a little dry. The mushroom pilau was very nice, the mushrooms were chunky and generous. However, on a similar theme to the curry, the rice had a thick slick of oil over it and left in the bottom of the bowl. So after the whole meal I felt quite heavy. My boyfriend ordered the chickpea curry and it was saucier and less oily than my okra masala, but I must say I can make a better chickpea curry at home so wasn’t that impressed.
Overall I would say the curry is decent and it makes for a pleasant evening but I wasn’t blown away and there’s definitely better curry out there.
Pros: Nice range of options
Cons: Oily , No vegan naan
