Best vegan bakery in Amsterdam ♥️

Most amazing pasties and vegan sandwiches! 20 minutes wait on a Saturday at peak time but well worth the wait 10/10 ♥️

Heerlijk ontbijtje!

Now I get why people wait 30 minutes to get in

We went here because of the many recommendations on HappyCow and were first taken aback by the fact that there was a rather large queue outside. But we decided to stay and wait (~30 min) and it was absolutely worth it.
We had the pistachio cruffin, the seasonal cruffin, the pain au chocolat with hazelnut and almond filling and a chocolate babka accompanied by latte and hot chocolate.
Everything was absolutely delicious and we really loved it. It is definitely worth the wait.

Pros: The pistachio cruffin, Choice of oat or soy milk for drinks

Cons: You have to wait in line, It's rather pricy (but worth it!)

Pastry from heaven

The bakery serves the sweet pastries and across the street is the deli which has a wider section with savoury stuff too.

Pros: Everyone is so freaking delicious!

Nice but a little overrated

Considering the hype and the queue outside, I was a little disappointed. The pastries I had were SO oily. Nice but expected more :):)

Go Now!

Easily some of the best pastries I’ve had as a vegan! Sweet and savoury choices. Staff were very friendly, service was quick. Only flaw Not many seats for staying in.

Incredible!

Had a corridor and a pistachio croissant. One of the best I’ve ever had (even compared to ones I’ve had before going vegan)

Busy but worth a try!

This place is very popular and the pastries are gorgeous. We tried an apple turnover type pastry and the famous pistachio cruffin. The cruffin is very full of pistachio cream, so consider that if you're not a huge pistachio fan! Both pastries were delicious and the pastry dough itself was very well layered - I'd have no idea it was vegan. The line moves quickly, so it's definitely worth waiting a bit, but have a backup plan for where to go to enjoy your pastries because seating inside is very limited. We would definitely go back when in Amsterdam again!

Simply Wow!

I stumbled upon this gem of a bakery and was absolutely blown away! As a vegan, it’s often challenging to find a place that offers not just options, but truly delicious, creative, and fresh treats. This bakery exceeded all my expectations. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warmest smiles and an array of colorful, mouth-watering pastries that look almost too good to eat.

I tried their vegan croissants, which were flaky, buttery (without the butter!), and perfectly golden. The cakes were divine, bursting with flavor and beautifully decorated. They even had a selection of gluten-free options, which my friend raved about! You can really taste the love and care in every bite.

What I loved the most was how inventive they are with flavors. From classic vanilla and chocolate to more adventurous combinations like matcha and raspberry, every dessert was a pleasant surprise.

If you’re in search of a guilt-free indulgence or simply want to experience how incredible plant-based baking can be, this place is a must-visit. I’m already planning my next trip back!

the tastiest pastry with a twist

i hardly can find vegan pastry these days, and Saint-Jean absolutely won my heart! they have so many different things to eat, both sweet and savoury! as far as i understood there's always big demand and big queues so it's probably better to come visit them when they start working when the choice of pastries is most wide

there's also another place called Saint-Jean Deli just across the road, and as i understood they have more vegan meals there but the demand is also higher 😅 but the food os definitely worth the possible waiting in line!

Pros: pastries taste like "normal" ones!, big choice of flavours

Cons: big queues

Yum!

I had a classic croissant and an almost, pistachio and blueberry cruffin, and they did not disappoint. Definitely one of the best vegan croissants ever/anywhere.

I'll be back to try the orange blossom, almond and cherry croissant soon!

Wanted to eat everything

The sweet sister to the Savoury Saint Jean across the road, we got the chocolate croissant and almond croissant. They were so perfect, absolutely delicious

We arrived at about 930am and there was a line but it moved pretty quickly, we waited about 10 minutes

Honestly the best pastry I’ve ever had

We queued for about 10 minutes to get in but it was worth the wait. They offered decaf coffee which was a bonus for me, but the star of the show was the pistachio cruffin. Hands down, it’s the best patty I’ve ever eaten. I’ll be talking about it for a long time

Pros: Excellent pastries, Affordable, Great selection

Cons: Had to queue but worth it!

Well worth waiting in line

Oh my god. Oh my god. I had 4 pastries and each was more delicious and flaky and decadent than the last. The mango cruffin and lemon curd filled pastries were my personal favorites. It’s out of the way and we had to wait 15 mins in line, but there’s no limit on what you can buy and they were bringing out fresh pastries all the time. Absolutely incredible

Pros: Outstanding pastries, Pretty reasonably priced , Friendly service

Cons: Kind of out of the way, You have to wait in line
