Fresh and tasty! - Edit
We didn’t see the option for vegan cheese or beyond meat on the menu but ordered off the vegan menu. The chimichanga was really delicious but the broccoli, cauliflower and carrot in the mix was a little different! The outside was lovely and crisp and the inside had not absorbed any oil. Corn chips were hot and fresh. We tried a soft and crunchy taco and both were great. Server was upbeat, friendly and helpful. Pricing was a happy surprise!

Delicious! - Edit
We got the Suisse enchiladas, The chimichanga and added beyond meat, and finally the Mini Cali burrito, which has french fries in it , HA! (-and it’s not “mini” at all , HA! —Well, perhaps in comparison to whatever the “Maxi” is?!)
Read moreI had read reviews on HappyCow about these 3 being great choices, and since I wasn’t thrilled about whatever I had gotten in the past, I decided to choose ones that other people recommended, and I’m so glad I did! These three choices were delicious!
I do wonder what the chimichanga without beyond meat would’ve been like, as I have been eating whole food plant-based lately and not eating plant-based meats as much. I bet you it would’ve been great as well!
*For a great local Taquiria which in comparison doesn’t serve plant-based cheeses and meats but has a wide variety of whole food options and is REALLY creative and delicious, try La Cabaña! But for the plant-based cheeses and meats, Salsa’s is the place for sure!
The service was really upbeat and friendly and totally is up on what Vegan is.
They were fast (We ordered ahead and picked up to go, and it was already within 10 minutes! )
My Mom, wife and I all loved everything!
Pros: An entire vegan menu, Upbeat and friendly service, Fast preparation
Cons: Would love a Pretty place to sit with friends

Beyond burrito & horchata - Edit
Beyond meat is offered to substitute in anything, on the vegan menu the items have sautéed veggies as default. Beyond meat is an upcharge, but a nice option to have.
Read moreHorchata is offered as a vegan option but it watery and not creamy enough. We got a Torta from veggie menu and the bread was falling apart bc it wasn’t the usual type that torta is served on.
Overall I’m happy to have options but it could be better.

Amazing Vegan Menu - Edit
Salsa's Taco Bar has a dedicated vegan menu with items for about $10 each, and comes with chips and salsa.
Read moreI ordered the Vegan Burrito ($8.95) which was filled with seared mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, and mixed with the classics including rice, black beans, guac, and salsa. Wrapped up in a large spinach tortilla, this burrito turned out to be massive for the price. I loved the fillings and the combination of flavors from all the veggies.
Most vegetarian burritos elsewhere are simply just lettuce, pico, rice, and maybe beans, so this was leaps and bounds above the competition. Absolutely loved it and was completely full even from just half. They also offer a Vegan California Burrito for $15 which is supposed to be 5lbs of burrito goodness. I am curious to try that the next time I arrive.
The chips here were okay too. They weren't my fave since they were so thin, but a good side to have and fantastic spicy salsa to go with my meal.
Pros: Varied vegan menu
Cons: Chips weren't great

Huge vegan menu - Edit
This place had a large separate vegan menu and staff shows that they care about vegans and what they order. I got the mini vegan Cali burrito and there was nothing mini about this thing. It was seriously so huge! It came with rice, beans, Guac, pico and deliciously seasoned fries. The burrito was truly delicious and it was so big I saved the rest for dinner.
Read moreThe red salsa is AMAZING and a must as well.
I also saw that they offer beyond meat and have a vegan breakfast burrito that has just egg in it. So many options for vegans!!
The inside wasn’t open and we ordered outside at the window. There were a few outside tables to sit at.
I highly recommend stopping at this place! It’s ok a very nice corner in a nice area.

They have Beyond Meat now! - Edit
The first time I went, I wasn’t even planning on eating out that day. I was just driving through the area and saw a sign that said “Full Vegan Menu” and thought to myself “well I guess I’m getting a burrito today.”
Read moreI actually got the chimichanga (instead of a burrito) and was very happy with my decision. Their chimichangas are incredible. They recently incorporated Beyond Meat into their menu too. It costs a bit extra to add Beyond Meat to the chimichanga, but it’s worth it.
You get free chips and salsa which are great.
This is actually my favorite vegan restaurant in the Santa Cruz area because it’s cheaper than other nearby vegan restaurants. But just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean the portion sizes are smaller. I rarely finish my burrito or chimichanga is one sitting.
HappyCow only allows 5 star reviews for fully vegan/vegetarian restaurants and this place does serve meat so I can only rate it 4 stars on here. But it’s a 5 star restaurant in my heart.
Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Good value
Cons: A little noisy

My Go-to Vegan Burrito Shop - Edit
Love this place for vegan burritos! They are very accommodating and their vegan burrito is delicious. They add a variety of veggies including broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and carrot to their burritos. Highly recommend! Would give it 5 stars but HC has a policy where only fully vegetarian or vegan places can get 5 stars.

Wish I could give a 5 - Edit
This place is fantastic for vegans. Highly recommend! They have a full vegan menu, with vegan cheese and sour cream available. If you like spicy food, their spicy salsas are also really delicious. If you need to feed a family for $13, they have a gigantic 5lb vegan burrito on menu 👌

Best vegan options in town - Edit
I eat here at least once a week with my wife. The vegan burrito is one of the best I’ve ever had, with a ton of actual veggies and vegan sour cream. The vegan crispy tacos are out of this world. They are the nicest people and appreciate you calling in your order. My favorite is to call in the order pick it up and had 3 blocks down the street to the beach and enjoy life.

YUM-mazing vegan options! - Edit
I get so happy when I see “Vegan” at a restaurant. Ate the most YUM-mazing vegan taco salad at Salsa’s Taco Bar in Santa Cruz. They offer a separate vegan menu with a ton of options. The salsas are spicy and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The quality is great and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely be going back. Just wish they had one in the north bay. Then again, maybe it’s best they don’t. I would gain so much weight because I’d eat there everyday!!!!

We had lunch at Salsa's yesterday and as usual, it did not disappoint.

Nice lil vegan menu - pretty tasty, hefty portions - Edit
Stopped by while on a bike ride around town, had the vegan burrito. It was big, tasty, loaded with veggies, topped with guac, and was actually pretty tasty. I'm not a fan of Mexican food in the States, but it was good. They also have a salsa bar with lots of different types to throw on your food. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Vegan Mexican? Yes!! - Edit
Seemed too good to be true -- a long list of vegan options on the menu, so I had to ask, "When it says cheese and sour cream on the enchiladas, is it dairy-free?" Yes, I was assured, and so my wife had the spinach enchiladas and I tried a chimichanga with black beans and fajita veggies (red and green peppers, onions). Had chips and a variety of salsas while we waited -- the salsa bar included photos and list of ingredients for each of the six salsa options, letting you know which were hot or mild. Small seating area, got pretty cold in there until someone finally closed the front door, but the food was hot and tasty, would try it again. Thumbs up!
